  1. I thought this was a bmw forum???? There is the right way and the wrong way to do these sorts of things. I'm no killjoy - my car is lowered, has 17's, bodykit etc. But it's all done properly. If you want to do it right, get the right advice. Mag and Tyre Direct are forum sponsors and will put you on the right track.
  2. Thanks Keith. I am planning on having the Bilsteins rebuilt next year after the christmas wallet burn. I like the plastic tubing idea - very kiwi no.8 wire. You should see the car today. Its loaded to the brim with beer - 10 doz in the front seat, 8 in the back and 4 in the boot - best way to sack out your e30 I say.
  3. I meant search this site. The link McLovin gave (bmw2002.com) sells the eccentric bushes etc. Good stuff.
  4. The above comments simply reinforce my view.
  5. You need to install either offset trailing arm bushes, or adjustable camber links. Neither are particularly cheap, but you will save your tyres. Do a search on here for both and you should get some hits. The front won't be too bad, but if you are concerned you can get top camber plates - again, not cheap.
  6. What are you on? You can't lower a car by putting low profile tyres on. Sure you'll be 25mm lower to the ground, but you won't pass a WOF. You have to have a tyre that is within 5% of the original diameter. That is 8% different to stock for e30 and almost 10% for e36. Muppet. PS> I know you know this mate, but seeing as you deal in tyres, how about a bit of sensible advice for those on here who don't know and assume you are giving them the correct advice. What you should be selling is a 185/45/17 or 185/50/17 if they want to go stretched. Plus you should be telling us the risks of running a stretched tyre. Otherwise you're just another cowboy.

    e30 17''

Would look crap on an e36, but may work on an e30, esp if it is kitted up (might look funny on a non-kitted car). Would be keen to see that photoshop.
  8. You read my mind. An insurance broker who races a 2002 in the race series is meeting me there at 4.30pm to go over a policy (should take 5mins). He knew Jock (Jock was who gave me his name) and so we plan to have a beer in Jocks honour. Cain will be there also, JP is trying to make it, so if you can Glenn, that'd make 5. Sounds like a plan to me. Graham.
  9. stock 325 ones I guess. I know there are about 3 different thickness ones - I think the ones I have are the middle thickness. I will measure next time the wheels are off.
  10. P.S. the above phone was stolen on Friday. Temporary Number is 021 060 8558. Cheers

    e30 boot springs

You're doing eactly what I did. Removing the old springs for the stiffer tech-II ones. Its a fiddly job but only takes 10min or so. Best advice I can give is get in and have a look while the old ones are still in, and I also did mine with the boot lid off as it had to come off anyway which made it easier - was just dealing with a hing, but if you can tie the boot up it should be fine. You can also use the end of a ring spanner, just make sure it doesn't twist and hit you in the face. The problem with pipe is you have to do the last little bit by hand and pull the pipe off the end at the same time as there isn't much room. I think on one side I may have used something else as a lever that you can take off without having to slip it over the end. Can't for the life of me remember what it was though. Also I think its easier if you put the hinge side of the spring in first and twist the fixed end into place rather than the other way around.
  12. I like it! The huge amount of new e36's to the site reflects the recent price drop. Kind of like e30's about 3-4years ago. I'm with Riley, wheels look like ACS Type III replicas.
  13. I have the same springs. Looks perfect, until you put anything in the boot. Handles great but I agree with you abut the rear and front not quite being right. I'm thinking about rebuilding my sub box lighter for this very reason. Also mine has a fair bit of rear squat on acceleration. I partially blame worn shocks though. But like I said, empty boot = perfect on the H&R's. Would be interested to hear Keith's take on my comments?? Cheers. Pic: Car loks flat, and has sub box in the boot. Would prefer tiniest bit of rake, mainly so that it wouldn't sack out quite so much in the rear with anything else in the boot or rear seat passengers.
  14. I like them. A few cosmetic touches and your car will be looking rad.
  15. Good stuff Riley. Have to check it out next time I'm down your way. Bit of a weapon you have there.
  16. Its a facelift, so not over 20 years yet. (Unless it just happens to be one of the really early f/l made in 12/87)
  17. Just a reminder I am coming to Auckland this weekend. Please get in touch with me by Thursday evening to confirm that you will pick up from me in Auckland that weekend. I will only bring down for those who can pick up as I don't want to cart it back up country again. I will be in Henderson on Friday night, but having dinner on the shore. Saturday will be scooting around doing xmas shopping, but will be at Waipuna Lodge enjoying a beer by mid afternoon and staying there until about 10am checkout on Sunday morning. Sunday have to make a quick trip back out to Henderson and then will be heading back up North via SH 16. So give me a PM or a txt to let me know when you would like to try and catch me and we can arrange a time/place. Preferably at the Waipuna. Cheers. Now I just have to figure out how to fit 22 dozen Lion Red in the e30. Can you imagine the cops face at a checkpoint???
  18. Too right Glen. Perhaps we could name and shame particularly negative cases if it ever comes to that. Please respect the forum sponsors. The forum would not be able to survive without them.

    e30 boot springs

Copper is pretty soft. I used 25mm OD steel tube. Also helps if you are relatively small and get into the boot on your back.
  20. Plastic front fenders remind me of that abortion by Ford from about 8-10 years ago. In fact, who else thinks it looks like a Ford Ka going backwards?
