I like it as there is no comments area for it to degrade into the state of rate my ride, however, a separate forum area where people could talk to the owners about their rides and ask questions ould be good - heavily moderated to stop ride-bashing of course. BTW, who's 325iS??

To fill the holes temporarly you can use tape. Permanently you need to have something glued on the inside, then sand, bog, sand, and paint the boot. So as JP said it is easier to buy a whole new lid and if it is the wrong colour just sand and repaint. Look around on trademe, bootlids can cost anything from $20 to $100 depending on who is selling it.

Which equates to 3.77575% I bow down to your greater precision and 5 decimal places lol.

Tapping noise is the tapets. They can be adjusted. Sometimes on older motors even after adjustment to correct spec, they are still noisey. Its an e30 trait.

Depends on which seal though doesn't it? And if you are paying them to do the seal it makes no sense doing the other stuff yourself as they will have the driveshaft etc out anyway. But the racks are easy to change and secondhand ones are cheap, so you could tackle that no problem. Just get some advice first as there are tricks to wiggling it out and undoing the tie rod ends without damaging them etc.

195/65/14 is 609mm diameter 205/50/15 is 586mm diameter so you'd be going 3.8% slower.

Classic - I had to tell that one to the boys. Thanks for giving us all a chuckle at your expense.

Welcome, but maybe you need glasses - parts for e30's are plentiful in the states. Ask around on www.r3vlimited or www.e30tech and you should be sweet. -
Lovn the e30 m3 and the Audi s5. Very cool.

Reading 10kms fast is standard for an e30. Every one I have owned has been. What is your tyre size. We have your rim diameter and you profile, but still need to know the width as profile is a percentage of width, not a number of mm. Factory standard is 195/65/r14 Speedo sensor is on the diff, so only rear wheels count for speedo reading. for your 65 profile tyre, widths of 195 or 205 are OK. Bigger than 205 will creat 5% or more SLOWER reading. 185 or below will create 5% or more FASTER reading. I doubt you have 185 or narrower!

Bring it up here. 327 eater MkII. Longer wheelbase for mad drifts round the tree!

Don't think the fluid is your problem but you should be using SAE 80 API GL4 or equvalent fluid. ie your average, run of the mill manual trans fluid.

Time Attakc - as in what the Japanese call what we know as Time Trials. Some of those rims are OK, but the coloured dish.. not happening.

I've been battling with my g/f's central locking in her 320 for awhile now. Was unlocking everything, but had to lock manually and petrol flap would not lock (so opposte problem to you). As it would unlock fine, we elimnated the microswitches and motors as the problem which meant computer. I pulled it out on the weekend and it was functioning fine when testing the relsy etc, and could get it to work by manually flicking the relays. So took a look at the wiring - was simply dirty contacts on the computer wiring harness. 15 mins cleaning them and it works a treat. Computer is in drivers side footwell underneath front factory speaker.

Stuff Riley - will try to come have a look next week. Hows the ground cearance with a 2.5" pipe below the rear subframe?
-
Sounds fair without actually seeing it.

So should be fine as long as it passes initial compliance check. BTW saw your car on TM Ollie - how's the sale going?

I'm going to tee up a driv efor tomorrow avo or saturday. Will let you all know. I just spent the last 3 hours under one of our newest members e30's. Would possibly miss that with the e39 - how much could I do myself?

Really? Look around, read a local nz paper and get back to me. Its just the same, only the numbers are smaller. OK it's not so bad, but seriously, frivolous litigation, finger pointing and blame shifting is rife here as anywhere.

I'll find all that out when I go to drive it. I drove past it twice and finally decided to go back and see what they wanted for it. Had a 2 second look and went home. My mind must have been ticking over on the drive home as once I got there I had decided it was worth a test drive. Want to go prepared. Anyone got an idea of a fair price range assuming it is a 1997? BTW thanks for the advice Yuen. Has the nav screen BTW if that makes any difference.

I have tripped over a 199? (1997 I think) 540i in totally unmolested condition - stock standard AFAIK for what appears to me to be a very very reasonable price. I am yet to drive it, but has leather interior, around 160kms, auto with steptronic, clear indicators and side repeaters, BMW alloys, etc. Looks exactly like this: Do the clear rear and side indicators mean its a 2001??? To be honest I didn't look at the year. Assuming there are no faults with it, what should I be paying? What should I be looking for as I am entirely new to e39's. Cheers.

1. Little known fact that e30's with the 13 button OBC do this also, but I think the threshold is closer to 32°F/0°C I only found out when it did one cold morning. Took me a minute to figure it out - OBC was flashing the temp at me also. 18. Another good reason to always wear your belt.

Someone should pay for it - your friend was a good dude by letting you all stay and he shouldn't have to pay for anything. If no-one is man enough to own up and pay the lot then all should chip in to pay.

The body coloured lip thing is very big in the states right now. Not for me, but styles change.
