So I thought about it, and decided, flush centrecaps would totally revamp the wheels. I also got to thinking aout a colour change to white, but that is a different story altogether. Anyway, so I devised a way to relatively cheaply make flush centre caps. Step one - buy for jars of screws with plastic lids 55mm in diameter (a standard size of which I happened to have four jars of already for the boat, and accidentally discovered they are only 1mm bigger diameter than the dimension of the inside of a E30 wheel hub. See pic for screw jar.

OK - I have finally completed my mod for my bottlecaps, so here are pics and a how-to. A bit of history first: I hated my wheels, but i didn't know exactly what I hated particularly as I liked sinilar looking wheels. Then it dawned on me - the f**king ugly centrecaps sticking out in all their ugly chrominess (new word I invented). i.e. they looked like this:

Well why didn't you inform us sooner then? I must report this gross misconduct to the board. Sudo - prob, it was only a modified 7er engine, so if you were prepared to fill your boot with hydrogen stuff and batteries it would prob fit.

It was a legit auction - I am surprised it even reached as high as it did. Either the bidder is thick as two short ones, or he/she has a sense of humour.

No - you're definately not losing it - just likea clean car. I'd hate to think how many times I've washed my car moer than once in a period when it hasn't even been driven. At least you went out and got it dirty before you cleaned it again.

i will try not to spam useless crap over and over now.

Yeah - down the side of the Post shop. BLACKD is the bimmer UTESTA is the clubby. P.S. Answer my txts bitch.

All for it, but as said - maybe if there is somewhere else on the web with this kind of feature, we could bludge a space there. Also, who would be the adjudicator - i.e. who would verify claims?

Imagine driving that sh*t round town - umm, could you back your car up a bit, I'm just gonna try and parallel park in that bus stop.

I met the owner yesterday - yes it was her son's handiwork - and I told her exactly what I thought. Went down like the proverbial lead balloon esp. when I said - and I quote - "It's only a 318 too - all show and no go." But she took it very well and we had a nice chat (it was down the pub) and I had a wee looksie at the current wheels she had with her - a very nicely kitted and finished off Clubby Ute. Not my personal taste, but very well done and I complimented her as such (another of her son's efforts). This seemed to smooth things over somewhat... Edit: I meant it too - the ute did look good. Oh I also mentioned that the rear spoiler looked like it was off some riced up Primera, the wheels were shocking (apperently they were on the clubby before and she likes them coz they're easy to clean), and that she'd killed a perfectly good bimmer. Mwahahaha - i'm a fkn evil c**t.

Mike is just the midlle word of my handle (the letter "M" in the Phonetic Alphabet), but whatever... Gus got it wrong too, and he had met me in person, so who gives a flying... But in case you were wondering, it's Graham.

Yeah they run in the 2 - 2.4 GHz band. Often have probs with cordless phones and wireless networks, but you can get them set up to work alongside. The problem with that frequency range is that it is really useful for long-range transmission, and is very cheap to buy a chunk of (which is why it is so popular), but also means there are a lot of interfernce possibilities - RTK GPS rovers also use this band, so you have wireless LANS, cordless phones, high precision GPS users, video senders, garage door openers, intercoms, car alarm remotes etc all vying for the same little slice of radio waves. It is setup so that all these things should work alongside, but there are always small crossovers where two devices use frequencies very close to one another.
-
Further range to bluetooth, and different frequency range - more like your cordless phone which has a base and a handset. You have a base with wireless, and your card in your laptop is the handset. Similar frequency range as a cordless too.

I love that car.

Looking good. When you're finished (engine and all etc) you should drive it back out there and show the dude what a little bit of cash and TLC can do.
-
lol - Gus the wireless pronographer link yo

And apparently, a little bit of software to help identify a possible target is helpful... Look here

Pretty much. You get the card installed and set it up, and then away you go to try your luck. The practice is unethical (all though I don't believe illegal) and is known as warpathing. The problem is, is that there are f-all wireless users in NZ to scab off, and due to the problems with warpathing overseas, most should know about it and thus will have security in place - although it only takes one company without security and you're set. Plus, in this day and age, there are plenty of personal users with wreless in their homes you could try to tap into - although it would take a bit of driving araound, and my guess is that those up with it enough to have wireless will know a thing or two about protecting their connection.

Caption for the second pic... "OK, OK, I'll let you wash it for me - just as long as you promise to remove those drool marks I saw you leave earlier..."

Just re-read that and realised what a whingeing bastard I sound like, so let me finish with this: If you can afford it, and you have conviction (of the mind, not the criminal kind) then go for it and try to beat the system. The justice system is a game - the better you play, the better the result. If the cost of a lawyer getting you off is less than the penalty if you plead guilty - you win.
-
I agree regarding beating the system ain't so bad as the system isn't always right. I have been burned by the system due to my age. I have seen how a bit of money could have got a slightly fairer result. I have seen how even though "the system" is supposedly innocent till proven guilty, because the judges usually side with the cops, and because some guy defending himself in front of the judge will almost always lose, it is up to YOU to prove your innocence by way of paying huge money for a lawyer. Now obviously, this does not apply to a simple speeding offence, but it does mean the conservative and narrow minded view of "don't break the law and you won't be in trouble" is a load of sh*t. In my case it was due to an accident where fault was not clear. There were no witnesses, so it was my word vs. the other party. I lost - it's the way the cookie crumbles, but as for justice? bah - total BS.
