Best way to hook up an MP3 Player in a Car
bravo replied to Braeden320's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
I use an itrip as my CD Player doesn't accept aux input (surprising considering it is hardly entry level!). itrip is flexible as I can take it from vehicle to vehicle, but quality is barely acceptable, esp in the BMW for some reason. It's OK, but as others have said aux is the way to go. -
Yes, definately as they may alter the characteristics of the motor, and thus the tune. It would probably still run fine depending on the mods, but you'll get better bang for your $ if you get the tune afterward.

Definately not as well as. Gavin will pull it out and start again. He writes a new chip for your car. It is a cheap alternative. You get what you pay for. Will it give you more horsepower? Possibly. Will it be better than factory? Maybe. Will it be more economical on fuel? Unlikely. Will it be safe for your motor? Maybe, maybe not. Will Gavin's tune be better and safe for your motor? Definately. I'm not bagging powerchips, its just that it's really difficult to write a good universal chip for an old car as they all wear differently, and it's impossible to compensate for all eventualities. With a trip down to Gavin's your new chip will be customised to your car and your expectations (unless they are unrealistic).

Awesome. That's the whole point of forums like this. Good stuff.

Funny thing is Apex, Dad used to listen to the original on cassette on the way to business meetings when I was akid, so apart from having to Google the name of the band, not much detecting to do. Should I be embarassed if I admit I know the words? Only problem is they cannot function whithout someone elses fist stuck up their ass.

You'll have to talk to someone who has it. There's nothing I can find in the regulations that specify something like that.

As far as I'm aware there is no such thing. There is Vintage Vehicle rego which applies to cars older than 40 years. Our 1942 Willy's is registered as such.

You could ask him, but I'd doubt that he'd want to. Too much fooking about. His computer is set up to plug straight into the motronic, etc ecu's and so on. It'd be worth a ph call just to be sure though.

3Pedals is correct, but don't let that put you off a SA e30. Mine is an SA and probably one of the best specc'd 4-doors in the country. It is only missing map light and one or two other fairly rare extras, and is well put together, and rust free by e30 standards. You can retrofit the fuel tank. Sumpguard needs the mounting points welded to the chassis. Cruise control is possible but you need alot of parts (switches, stalk, throttle lever, and all the obvious bits). Tool kit is a 2 min job to swap over (I've done it). OBC might be possible, but the OBC cars have a different light stalk on the column with an OBC switch on it, and you'd need to get all of the various connections sorted. Also you probably won't get the temp function working unless you want to install the sensors, and not sure if the OBC immobiliser will work. As to Rotty's comment about OBC being rubbish - I guess it depends what you want out of it - I use mine every time I drive, but if I didn't have it, I wouldn't miss it too much. Interior is easy to swap. Electric windows and mirrors might be a bit of a pain, but theoretically all of the wiring should be there, you just need to spend the time getting the motors and rails and switches in (which means swapping the centre console and door cards to take the switches, etc. A mission in other words.

Depends on how long they take. If you budget $1000 you won't get a nasty surprise, but it may be cheaper if its fairly straightforward (this is based on my experience with Gavin. Mine cost over $1000 but was a FI tune from scratch) Kerry - Gavin's dyno reads a tad low, so in reality you're probably cracking 200hp.

Took my prize on Monday. It was awesome! I recommend everyone does this, and get your wife and kids to do it too. Has already saved me from T-boning some nutty bitch who pulled out in front of me without looking yesterday. Thanks AA! Pics: And BTW - I helped out you race series guys by clearing some of the track wildlife out of the way... Glenn - e90>firearm for Pukeko control

SA 325i or SA 325iS?? 325iS has m3 suspension components, is 5-lug, has a 2.7l m20, and aluminium body panels among other things. 325i is as previous posts. Often also have cruise control.

Although debate can be healthy, this topic has already been discussed to death before. There was ample time for submissions if you got off your lazy arses and wrote in to the government. Some of us did do just that, and some of our comments were actually taken on board and the legislation was amended or clarified. If you don't like it and you didn't make a submission, you only have yourself to blame. Democracy only works if you participate.
