    e36 TPS Question

Thats the plan. I've been told I can get an adjustable voltage sensor that can take two variable inputs and provide a switchable output signal/voltage (or two outputs maybe?). So it would take inputs from TPS and hopefully revs, and then output to a relay depending on how it is setup. Off the shelf items apparently, so not too difficult or expensive once it's worked out. So you think I'd need to run 2x TPS sensors to achieve this??? Or does the TPS you talk of have two outputs?

    e36 TPS Question

Brent - will e30 factory ecu recognise output??? ie could I use 1 TPS and have the e30 ecu work OK, and just take my feed off for the SC relay????

    e36 TPS Question

OK, that's a good start. Maybe I'll explain more as someone may be able to save me some of the hard work. I want a relay to activate the supercharger clutch at various throttle positions. This would allow the SC clutch to disengage during a cruise scenario with only partially open throttle, but engage when the throttle is opened further for acceleration. I also want to work out how to piggyback on the engine speed sensor so I can switch the SC off at low revs (say under 2 grand) but come on over that. That would allow there to be no boost in low-rev situations, and will solve the problem during the engine braking scenario with only a TPS switched clutch. If the SC switches off in this situation (closed throttle), thats great, but potentially it would then engage the clutch again as soon as the power is put back on upon exiting the corner, with potentially quite a few revs on = bad. Here's a rough idea of how I'd like to see it operate - actual rev thresholds may need work - advice appreciated. Revs <2000rpm Throttle closed = clutch disengaged Throttle cruise = clutch disengaged WOT = clutch disengaged??????????? 2000rpm<Revs<3000rpm Throttle closed = clutch disengaged Throttle cruise = clutch disengaged WOT = clutch engaged Revs>3000rpm Clutch engaged
  4. Does the e36 TPS have a constantly variable voltage output?? E30 only has 2 or 3 positions I understand??? Anyone able to dish the dirt on this? I want to run two TPSs. The stock e30 one in the stock location, and the e36 one piggy backed (yet to work out how) for another purpose. Thanks.
  5. Welcome, nice machine you have there. I wish the sedan had the same rear as the coupe as I much prefer the coupe lights and rear treatment. I suppose that really doesn't matter to you as its everyone else who has to look at the rear disappearing into the distance, right?

    BMW E30 320i 84

Well my open diff definitely feels like an open diff. So I'll happily trade it for some one with an LSD that doesn't think they'll notice the difference with cash their way. I'll even do the swap for them too if the price reflects this.
  8. I'm going to go out on a limb and say with the arch flares and huge spoiler, I'd rock that as a rally car. Looks like it should have AWD though.
  9. There's no e36 325td in the list????? I know a VERY gay man who drives one. Uses an internet handle like creampuff or powderpuff or some such.

  12. If you're after an m5, get a sedan over this. If you're after a ute, get this over a Holden. Easy.
  13. Link Best e30 engine swap ever??????
  14. followed by "no-one light a cigarette" since I had noticed the vendor smoking a minute or two before. Did the guy actually say "it's never done that before" or is it my mind playing tricks on me? I'm sure he did.
  15. Been there too Ryan. Similar situation. It's the intimidation that gets me. Makes me pissed off as f**k. Even just aresholes being rude make me feel the same way. Parked in a construction site driveway the other day in the middle of the night and some retard turns up, comes up to the car, and says "Truck coming in here soon. f**k off." I'm surprised the dipshit was even able to formulate the two-syllable word in that sentence. I just smiled, said sweet as bro and moved 20m up the road. Schemed about stopping the truck on the main road and detouring it, but didn't think to get the drop kick's name, so wouldn't have been able to come up with a plausible story to tell the truck driver so didn't. It's usually not worth it getting your own back, but if you ever get the chance to in those sort of situations, I say do it. It's sad that there are people out there that are such losers that that is the only way they can entertain themselves.

    Idiots on the bridge

Tomo - that's a little bit alarmist don't you think? If one illegal protest = anarchy, then we'd have been f**ked years ago. Maybe you're not old enough to remember protests of yore? (Anti-vietnam, anti-nuclear, anti-apartheid??? and more.) PS: I know I'm sounding rather pro-protest. I'm not. Half the time protests are just whinging buggers with nothing better to do. I'm just pro getting off your arse and making a fuss for a change. Plus its not a bad topic for a debate on a Monday at work.

True, there's a fine line between protest and terrorism. That said, I can't believe the furore over a hour or two delay. An accident causes worse and happens far more frequently.

So is sitting on your hands on an issue (any issue) you feel passionate about. BTW just to reiterate - I couldn't care less about the pedestrian access on the bridge - I don't even live in Auckland, and wouldn't use it if it were there.

On the subject of protests, there's an academic article on pages 52 and 52 of the latest Otago University Magazine that draws a correlation between the higher cost of university and the introduction of internal assessment to the number and type of protests undertaken by students. Interesting reading. OU Magazine See also another very interesting article on the credit crunch (first few pages). In fact the whole magazine is usually worth a read if you are a thinker like myself. I'm subscribed to it.
  20. If you do not believe that the locks make the place "reasonably secure" tell the landlord to suck a d*ck and replace the locks. Tenancies Act 1986 s46. BTW I am a landlord, and I view my tenants security and feeling of safety and well being as security on my own investment. Maybe convince the landlord that by securing the premises they are securing their investment from damage by vandals and thieves. And by making you feel safe, you're more likely to stay on as tenants securing his/her income stream.

    You already know the answer.
  22. The poor guy probably thinks it IS an m3. I actually feel sorry for him/her. Still, if it gets your goat that much, do as PJay says and report it to TM as mis-representation of product.
