Also, satin black usually looks better than gloss.

So Andrew, did you get your money???? Is this sold???

You get what you pay for. It is possible to realise more gains from your engine with an ecu remap (basically what these chips are), but all these chips do is raise the rev limit, and alter the fuel mixture to elicit some some gains in expense for fuel economy. In reality, you run the risk of doing damage to your engine for possibly no gains. If you buy a reputable chip you can at least expect that you won't cause damage, but even then, some of the claims can be a little unbelievable. Best bang for buck?? Pay a professional to dyno-tune your car and remap/chip your ecu with a custom remap. Will cost 5-6 times the cost of one of these chips, but the gains will be worth it and your engine will be safe.

Sweet as Si. Nothing like slipping back behind the wheel after an extended break. I know that feeling well.

Manual conversion is fairly easy and if you do it yourself with the usual new parts (clutch, etc) it'll run you $1200ish There's little point moving to a 2.3/2.5 from the e30 series from a 1.8/2.0. You're far better off buying the 325i from the get-go. This is especially true moving from the 4cyl to the 6cyl as you have to do a lot more (suspension, loom) and if you've already done a manual conv, the gearboxes aren't interchangeable. If you mean the newer m50/m52 engines, then yes, these are common swaps. They are a little work, but you benefit from many people's past experiences. Also, if the old motor was a 6cyl, the gearbox from the older motor fits the newer one, so you wan't have to do the manual conversion twice. Finally, there are plenty of boosted (both turbo and supercharged) e30's around both with the older m20 motors and newer m50/m52's, so that's another option.

A place on one of the BMW Driver Training 1-day courses. Which is something I've wanted to do for ages. Excited!!!! Thanks Phil, and thanks AA - yes I am an AA member.

The unbalance switch fails, and so it doesn't turn off when the load is unbalanced, and then flogs out the drum bearings. If the machines weren't so old to be not worth fixing it'd be an easy fix. New bearings and new switch, done.

When you trim down the side repeater, 10mm is enough off - you won't have to go as short as the stock ones. The bulb holder won't clip into the repeater once you've done this though as the inside diameter is larger about 10mm from the end, but the rubber seal will hold everything on fine. I tried only taking 5mm off, but the light pattern was still like yours. You could try taking 15-20mm off, but I found 10mm was enough. You could live with them how they are as it only affects the light pattern, not the overall look or fitment, but I agree, they are better trimmed down. I need to go for a drive - they're way too clean compared to my headlights and fogs!!!! The white bulbs are actually growing on me....

Not surprising considering Lamborghini is owned by Audi AG. Bet you there's heaps of Audi bits in there.

Mine arrived today too. My car is F/L so the housings are the same. I too am intrigued as to why there are two bulbs?? I plan to just swap lenses over tonight. I think I'll keep my bulbs for now as white indicators at the front are legal. but will buy those silver bulbs that flash orange over the wknd. Thanks for organising this Apex.

The certifier actually said he possibly would have passed it without one if I hadn't of asked due to the relatively low increase in power (20-30%), but that it was good practice anyway, and that what I had done was spot on. I did it myself. 50x5mm MSF. I just cut to length (borrowed a drop saw with steel cutting disc), and bent to shape (borrowed a sheet-metal bender). Looks like this: __|'''''''|_ with the d-shaft just above it, and it nestles up into the trans tunnel. After talking with the certifier it was decided that it only had to be a bracket like that, not a loop as it was mainly to stop it spearing into the ground, not tearing through the trans tunnel. I bolted it through the floor with very large flat washers, and m10 g8.8 bolts which next time I have to lift the carpet for something, I'll tack weld the washers and bolt-heads to the floor to make them captive for easy removal of the bracket. I was in a hurry to get the car going so didn't do it before. Obviously everything got a good coat of paint. If I ever put loads more power through and a loop is needed I could make a bolt on bracket to loop over the top of the d-shaft. Only 1 loop required. The d-shaft hanger bearing is considered acceptable on e30 d-shaft to act as one for the rear half. They need to be as close as possible to the front of the shaft without touching the shaft or guibo under normal driving. Should be as high as possible without touching the shaft. If found just back from the guibo was perfect to get a flat bit of floor away from the chassis rails to bolt through. One side had to be taller than the other as the foot wells are different on either side, and one mounting flange had to be longer than the other to get to the right spot, but was easy - I did it in a morning.

A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts: “Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?†The man below says: “Yes, you’re in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field.†“You must be an engineer†says the balloonist. “I am†replies the man. “How did you know?†“Well,†says the balloonist, “everything you have told me is technically correct, but it’s no use to anyone.†The man below says “you must be in management.†“I am†replies the balloonist, “but how did you know?†Well,†says the man, “you don’t know where you are, or where you’re going, but you expect me to be able to help. You’re in the same position you were before we met, but now it’s my fault.

Mint. Pity that I always buy my Subscription at the end of the year, so can't take advantage as I have months to go already.

+1 I was advised of this also at an appearance for a similar charge when I was 20. The duty solicitor got me to drag my old man along and made a fuss of pointing this out to the judge. I thought it was a bit over the top, but seemed to work. The problem with the nz legal system is that the police always look to charge someone at a collision (there is no such thing as an accident), and then you have to prove your innocence at your own expense with no viable avenue for recompense. Legal aid and duty solicitors are great for helping get reduced punishments, but if you want to defend the charges, it costs $$$$. Innocent until proven guilty is a total misnomer. The police prosecutor knows that unless you have time and money you're probably going to plead guilty just to get it over and done.

What post count? I like it, but not as an Aston Replica, just on it's own merits. If they had just released the kit and left the Aston mouth off it would have been better. Those lights look like an MRS. That would have been a better base too.

Certed ages ago. Tuned ages ago. Haven't driven the car since the tune really. Been rocking out on the wet roads in my MR2. I want to adjust the tappets as there is some valvetrain noise, fix a small oil leak, and sort out the TPS S/C control before I put too many more miles on. I'm house hunting at the moment, and then I'll be moving, so as soon as that happens I'll get stuck in as I'm looking for a house with plenty of garaging. Waiting to hear back on one at the mo with a giant 2-3 car garage plus large concrete pad and carport. If it goes to plan will be moving within a fortnight.

At least I got my Question answered before it closed: Q: How many hours constitutes a day? 8? 12? 24? Would you be willing to travel to Kerikeri/Paihia? Would you be willing to wear a costume and get wet? A:I'll hang out for the full 24 hours if the Auction-Winner can stay awake that long without the use of drugs. Not keen to get my arms/legs/face chopped off by a drugged up maniac. Otherwise, sweet! As for Kerikeri/Paihia. Will def consider it for the right price. The money is going towards heading to England in search of a friend, so don't want to spend all of it on gas. Costumes. I love costumes! But what kind of costume are we talking? Also, define wet in 100 words or less. Sorry - no cached copy.

Damn. I was going to bid. Seriously. Was scheming a day of boozing with friends and thought it'd be awesome if we could get her to come, dress-up, and we could place bets on her ability to complete various challenges.. All above-board and legit, like. Would have been awesome.

Lol - exactly. My g/f's parts e30 is a classic example. Her: This guy wants such and such part - will pay $xx.xx. Me: Oh - I might need that for my e30. Better not sell it. I'll make it up to you....
