  1. I was looking through some of the board statistics and found the 5 most viewed attachments on BS. Amusing viewing: #5 (417 views) - Riley's e30. I'm sure the props used in this pic have nothing at all to do with it's rating.... #4 (447 views) - Well deserved as the hottest e30 on the boards at the time of the original post (IMO), I present: ED1RTY. #3 (505 views) - I see a common theme emerging..... Riley gets extra credit for two attachments in the top 5. #2 (512 views) - The lovely Theola and her e36 316i compact. And at # 1 (1116 views) totally eclipsing all of the others, even Riley's combined together, and proving that occasionally members manage to keep their thoughts above the waist, I present to you 540iTOURING's errr...... 540i Touring: Note, viewing the pics here does not increase their rating, and pics embedded in threads don't count in these stats - only "attached" pics.

    Car transport

Need to get a mates car to Nelson from Paihia. Anyone recommend a transport company? Would get the vehicle to Auckland if required. Its just an old sacked-out corona with some motor mods and a respray so we're not talking prestige car transport here, but no damage would be a bonus. Thanks.
  3. Tidy! Space the rear wheels out for better stance and to fill the guards. They look to be FWD offset.
  4. You could. I also did this for my IC piping. I first consulted with the cert inspector who took a look and said it was fine and not structural. He did want me to leave some metal beside the chassis rail, etc and the hole had to be round and slightly larger than the piping so that no rubbing would occur. I also took it upon myself to run rubber grommet strip around the edge after filing and painting so there were no sharp bits. But the gains are minimal at best over a k&n panel filter in stock location. And if you don't run a properly sealed airbox you will lose power as the stock airbox is well designed and protected from heat anyway. If you want to go the K&N panel filter way, I have one that is in as-new condition for $80 incl. postage. They are well over $100 retail, and $100+ plus postage on trademe.
  5. I only have three words to say to that: Northern Gateway Tunnels.
  6. Preach on brother!!!! It sucks that I can't just swap between 16's and 17's as the mood takes me.

    e36 TPS Question

It's intercooled and plan to either leave the boost as is or perhaps lift it a couple of PSI, but I think I'm close to max on this SC. Build thread is here.
  8. It was a borrowed camera, so no. The audio is mpga, I know this as VLC tells you what codec it is using to play the damn thing, so mpga it is. Unfortunately VLC codecs are not installed into windows and run within VLC so unless someone knows how to pull the codec out of VLC then thats a dead end. For those of you who have never heard of mpga, do what I did and google it. God knows why you can't download the codec though. gspot tells me that I have the codec installed, yet it still wont play sound in Vegas. Any ideas?? Codec: 0x0050 MPEG-1 Layer 2
  9. Where's the bimmersport discount? We should have done a group buy Album release party tickets are in the post, and will be getting the album, but can't buy it in Kerikeri lol.
  10. My cert measurement is centre of hub to arch. I also thought this was the correct method as it allows checking of suspension height independent of wheel/tyre size in situations where it is suspected that both may have been changed. Also: A brief word on lowering from the LVVTA
  11. Even with some flash video editing software I still can't edit the video I have of my e30. This is ridiculous as both the software and the camera are Sony. So a bit of research leads me to the cause -the video is encoded in xvid and the audio in mpga. I have downloaded an xvid codec and I can now get the video to display in the editing suite, but I cannot fond an mpga codec. Any ideas?? BTW it plays fine in VLC.
  12. Follow on from the Snijers clip I posted the other day. Some of the same footage here, but mostly new. There is some cringe-worthy material from 8.20 on, and I love the extra lights on the blue and white car near the end - badass. you tube
  13. Someone's changed the price. $8k start bid now. Would have been worth it at the old price. At the new, I want 6cyl. I hope they get it though. Not enough nice verts out there changing hands, and to be honest they should command a little more.
  14. Kerry, good points, but almost all of the commonly available quality lowering springs for e30 maintain legal ride height. The time and cost of development the manufacturers put into these springs would give me far more confidence of performance than having sock springs reset. Only very very low setups require a cert for lowering, and these need to be so significantly stiffer to prevent bottoming out that resetting of stock springs is unsatisfactory IMO. On another note, if your springs sag to the point where any part of the suspension or chassis is less than 100mm off the ground when the vehicle is unloaded, it will fail a WOF. PS. Technically under the rules resetting of the stock springs requires a cert anyway, so you'd have to have the ugly tag regardless. Only unmodified OEM or replacement springs that are captive in unmodified spring seats with chassis and suspension and steering components >100mm off the ground do not require a cert. Heating or otherwise modifying OEM springs requires a cert.
  15. Yeah, its very un just that they can order you to jump through hoops and spend money proving that the fine was unlawful. I'd invoice the PD for the costs. If you were really keen you could possibly make a police harassment case out of it, but usually not worth the agro.
  16. Once you have it sorted print our a copy of the rules for you glovebox. I have a wee folder of stuff in there, but havn't yet needed it. Beside the fact that the method of measurement was not correct, what's to say they weren't reading the factory distance for pre f/l not f/l which has lower guards anyway??? To fail an e30 for too low at the rear, you'd have to be running no springs at all. There's not alot back there that can fail the 100mm rule.
  17. Coincidence that the RHS one breaks more often I guess. Smilies are harder to get hold of so most people will just put a regular ellipsoid in.
  18. Shove your g/f through the ski hole behind the rear seat if your car has one. Some havn't been punched out yet - remove the rear seat and if there is a set of rounded-cornered rectangular perforations you can punch it out. No good if your car is S/A as there is a fuel tank behind there. You might have to push hard to get her in there, but use some baby oil and push really hard. Sometimes you'll get a bit of a screeching sound as you do this, bt don't worry, it won't be causing any damage to the car. Then hand her a torch and shout instructions at her whilst enjoying the beer she brought you when you called her over. Other alternatives involve smashing a rear tail light, or using panel pullers on the lock to rip it out, but this won't always work as you'll still have to try and spring the catch. Girlfriend method is the best. Helps if your girlfriend is size 8 or smaller. Edit: I see you found an alternative method. Ah well, enjoy that beer anyway.

    Telecom XT

And as far as Orcon is concerned, they trained their call centre staff over a year ago for the mobile release and it didn't happen. From what I know, the infrastructure was started and a budget prepared and committed to. I no longer have an insider in Orcon, so I don't know anymore. The recession is certainly having an effect. Kordia is the pusher for mobile with Orcon. Kordia, Orcon and there staff/management are keeping fairly quiet though. Kordia did release it's two-way mobile devices/network though from memory.

Several friends with iphones have sat nav enabled. It's fairly good, but doesn't work too well outside of G3 coverage as the maps are stored online, not in the phone, otherwise it's excellent. Show you as a pulsing dot on the road that is synced to the phones GPS. Suck battery too - would want to have a docking station. Also, to replace dedicated satnav you'd want to change the interface - dual finger zooming etc is not cool while driving. I've looked at the plans around and can't beleive how expensive data is. I used Google maps on my Windows Mobile phone the other day on a casual use rate 1c/MB $23.40 on my bill. I could have got the 200MB for not much more, but don't want to spend that much every month for something I use only occaisionally.
  21. I agree that you should be given the same prompt and friendly service, but I don't agree every customer should be treated exactly the same. I don't take ALL my clients out for lunch now do I? You might bring in more work or buy a car off them in the future so they should look after you, but they don't necessarily have to make you tea or valet your car.
  22. Do you get a prize?
