1st picture is very nice. M3 with tacky green additions... not so cool. Nor is a crappy Korean car.

Thinking about what you just said Mark, it really brings it home that just having the engine is only part of it, when you break it down there are so many other necessary parts you almost need a complete M3 drive terrain and electrical system, hence get an M3 like you said! Of course it would be doable but it doesn't mean it is going to be plain sailing if you want a 100% functional conversion. Even once it runs there are many small difference in M3 vs non M E36's like the slower steering rack for instance, small brakes etc, so it's never going to quite live up to a stock E36 M3 if that is the goal. Your so right! Seen it all too much. My favorite are people asking on Supercharger listings, "What will it take to fit to my *insert car*?" Sigh!

Sounds exciting.... I wouldn't imagine it would be too complicated since most would be bolt in, just lots of hours fiddling. I look forward to seeing the results!

Super exciting. I thought I saw your car today parked up, but it was a look alike 525i!

I think they are a chain actually, I couldn't recall but he said they are a trouble spot after a certain amount of k's so..

Neither is the up keep. I know a guy with one, he loves it and thinks its worth it but says you need a good cash fund on the side for it. Apparently when he looked into buying one he discovered they have catastrophic failure if the timing belt breaks, needing an entire engine replacement. But he found a good one and has loved it since.

I would never buy a red car. Had two in the past and they all fade.
-
Agreed! I would have but since I am going down a 1UZFE Manaual conversion in a few months I decided just to keep the auto in mine. Terrible gearbox imo.
-
Fantastic, very tidy package!

Good price if it was manual, but being auto I think you would struggle to sell it for that price.

I figured they were that style. Most of BMW's new wheels are nothing to look at anyway, certainly dont go with the older style BMW's Those would have to be replicas I would imagine anyway.
-
Those wheels shouldn't add any value to it, puke! Offer 5k for it and supply your own stock e34 wheels or whatever.

Hmmm Not sure what to think....

Doesn't really seem like an advantage to have that motor. With all that effort they could have put something more powerful in there. -

What power and torque figures do you estimate the setup would put out? -

A round of appaulse to you Lance. It's projects like this that impress me the most. -
I drink everything in moderation, Mostly water, decent fruit juice, the odd coffee, wine or a few beers depending on what day or time it is. Never drink shitty soft drinks or energy drinks like i once did a few years back. Yuck!

Very Nice Clem. I pondered buying that 1996 540i too, but I already had enough cars right now. Seemed like such a good buy for a 1996!

Nice find Brent.

What a good idea!

Perhaps we could critique a BMW like the example bellow of a crappy Soarer.

I better get this Lexus V8 into my E36 before May 1st then! I don't want no damn cats. Grrr

Stupidity. I would NEVER treat a car like that. Sad.
