Back home now after some final prep at rays. 2 Now its home we will work on the tidy up tasks and interior bits and pieces. Also some final bracket fabrication. The whole thing hasn't quite sunk in yet haha .. The drive home was pretty interesting .. third gear pull to above 200 was pretty much a mouse fart for this engine. Its left brendon driving the 330 1/2 a K back in no time. no question .. F**k it moves. I must say im really enjoying the e30 smell again in my garage .. with added extra of other burning sh*t. Something I dont miss, the smell of e30's haha.

Yeah opened the altinator up and sorted out one of the coils which had started to earth itself. the altinator was from the first engine so wasn't really in a known state. Managed to suss it and get the majic 13.5 volts from the battery took a lot of the day however.

Brendon runs something similar as a spare on his evo III. They look awesome and all drag radial.

hehe .. yeah, bit of a dream come true really for me. I must add, we didnt want to risk driving it with no bumper on around the main roads so it was small bursts up and down the small road. Also I should add its running horride 8 month old 98 in the tank ... might as well be running it on 91 :/ lol Should run a lot better on a fresh tank.

thanks I have had A LOT of help from my friends on this. I'll write up a big thank you thread later this week and whos been helping out on this. Lots of free time and effort to make this happen. The problem with putting this type of engine into one of these shells with all the trimmings is pretty much everything need to me modified or rebuilt to fit.

hmm, I got mine while I was waiting for a plate for the e46. Just took the paper in. Try somewhere else than VTNZ. Really generally speaking, VTNZ is the worst place to go if your young and have a modified car. Most VTNZ's I have come across are full of power tripping idiots who stereo type you as soon as they see you and apply their version of the grey fuzzy law that is the NZ land transport. Its fine for ma and pa in the falcodore but have more than worn out my patience a long time a go. Everyone else I have used is more than reasonible. I remember when I took my (at the time) standard 330i that had legal tints in it. The guy failed it because HIS light tester was broken. You could imagine my response to that, I was 27 at the time.

haha thats true! yeah pretty cool stuff, not sure what where how on that .. or with the timing .. but its being POC'd at the mo. The white belt has thousands of tiny holes in it, you can see a rather large cust coming off the cutter, a massive vaccum pump runs and sucks the card too the table during the cutting process. If you have multiple layers stacked such as material then you just put a layer plastic to vac pack the material down during the process.

I made it move under its own power today... so very close to taking it for the first drive. Did the fan wiring tonight, just need to finish it up and get the bumpers back on. Intial thoughts on the clutch is it bites very very nicely and is not heavy at all. Big thanks to Ray and co for spending a few hours doing brakes / clutch / power steering and GB fluids. Much appreciated fellas!
