  1. As a reference and certainly not suggesting this is the best way to go for you. When I was looking into rebuilding my (at the time) second s50b32 the cost for doing high comp forged pistons rods, bearings and ditching vanos (race car only mod) and going for a set of 284 cams was going to cost around 8k which is the cost of a decent s50b32. With the setup and correct mapping above you can probably hope to get more power than a standard b32 however your looking at uprated double valve springs and uprated valves and seats, maybe a bit of porting if you want to take it higher. Even the option of boring and stroking it to 3.3 ltr Youll defanitly increase your rev limit and the b30 will be a good engine to do it with. If your not already running a lighter flywheel / rotating mass I suggest this as it will make a big difference as well. Did this to my b32 and it made a massive difference If your really anal, you can pay mega $$$ and get the header re-designed to handle the HP in the higher RPM better. Setting a goal of where you want to land this $$$ wise and how often you want to rebuild it. You can always switch to an s54 with a throttle cable conversion kit and work that as well. The days of 'readily' availble expensive s50b32's are numbered as the s54's is about to flood the market.
  2. I beleive the problem isn't with the gauge or the sender. I think you possible have a FL cluster electronics on a Pre-FL senders. Here is what I found last night as Im using a pre-fl tank( pre-fl car) with a FL cluster. I ran out of gas when the gauge read half way (FL cluster / pre-fl tank/senders) When I put some gas in the tank I got 40liters of gas however its been very slowly going down on its way to half way (real empty) So, I removed the FL cluster and added my pre-fl fuel gauge and pre-fl front bezel cover electronics to make a hybrid. result = gas gauge 20 liters (1/3rd full) and tacho / speed / fun meter stopped working and I guess temp too but car was cold I then made the following pre fl fuel gauge + fl front bezel electronics + fl gauges result = 20 liters (1/3rd full) with everything else working. My conclusion however is that I still have an issue that, I think mytank is probably really half full but only showing 1/3rd full .. so full tank = full tank on gauge however empty gauge = half full tank. (not sure yet will test later when I can legally waste petrol ) I think the only way around this is going back to pre-fl cluster and working some magic on the loom adapter. As changing the tank to FL is a major as I have already spend the $$$ on fuel pumps / surge tanks. Trick: You only find this sh*t out when your try this wierd stuff for yourself as most people just leave their clusters alone! haha
  3. Do you still have this issue ?

  22. You would be very surprised at whats hidden away in New Zealand sheds. A quick trip to concorse opens the eyes of just some of it. Everything from ex bathurst DTM race cars yet be seen to a porsche carrera GT owned by moyes in AKL + much much more. I still remember the day an ex flatmates friend of mine bought over his LP5000QV Countach. I wet my pants that day.
  23. Sweet, when I looked there were only maps for europe thorugh official channels. I wonder how upto date the NZ maps are. There are big differences between BMW 05 maps and 08 maps hopefully they update them regularly. If they licience maps from Geosmart they its gravy as they are the only company who constantly update their routing tables, otherwise youll probably find them a pain in the ass as they wont route properly. Is only a problem if you drive through areas with changing roading infrastrucutre such as the AK.
