For All The Aspiring Racing Drivers Out There....
hybrid replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in General Discussion
Then this isnt probably for you if you have to query a race season costs.. This is however the cheapest single make series in the country. Its a good oppertunity for someone wanting to step it up to a real race program without the initial outlay for the car. Pretty cool. -
Its quite funny, living / growing up in NZ I noticed life getting more and more PC / safety orintated. I recently went over seas for a decent trip and was actually shocked on how other countries operate. Sketchy is the rule not the excepetion, even in developed countries.

This one is one of the old S1 Group B cars. Its running a much more refined ECU and no real antilag.

It's got nothing to do with anything. A lot of it is random. Ive spent over 60k on new OEM parts building two cars. Never got invited to anything and was on the database. A lot of it has to do with which dealer sales manager you're known too. There only a handful of invites around. NZ is pretty small unfortunately, also sales managers move on, mentally and job wise. -

The problem occurs because the battery's ability for load just isnt there any more. The ZF 5hp19 (530) & 5hp24 (540) transmissions have solinoids that require quite a bit of grunt to move them. If the EGS detects a drop in voltage and current it will trigger the fail-safe program in the EGS and appear on your IKE->MID. This happens a lot when a battery is nearing the end of its life, has been damaged with under charging. The problem gets amplified because of cold weather. This also occurs when other batteries are used other than DIN88.

Dave, you probably just need to get your SMG clutch re-aligned, something you can get done when getting it serviced, or Ray will b e able to help with that.. Fairly simply process

Nice.. Unfortunately $20 cables will give you that write issue when flashing. Youll only brick the ECU if the car is writting the UIF and flash counter back to flash (right at the end). It is still recoverible .. but not with cables.

I hate to say it youll be paying top dollar at Team .. you could really save some $$$ going else where. Don't get too caught up in the fact its a modern m3 (which is where people unfortunately charge $$$) At the end of the day its a engine. It may use slightly different materials for bearing shells and a few special tools etc.. but I would challange the 18k part, most of that is 120p/h labour charge for a mid range mechanic to undo bolts and place OEM parts back in the right order @ full retail. I would say divide that price by 2 and even then thats very expensive. Ask me, I went down the same path 10 years a go with my near new e46 and spent silly amounts on it ... when I was a little nieve. Sorry I dont mean to tell you stuff you probably already have emotionly evalutated over the past few months, and I dont normally chime in on these sorts of threads due to seaming bias, but that is an obscene amount of money and really do think your funding their sales parties and polished floors and then some big markup on this one. Shop around or atleast challange and gett them to justify the price. Get an itemised make up of the bill/quote.

The key is to strike up a good relationship with your warrent officer. Then they know your car and problems melt away. Mine is highly modified.. fully certed etc. And I just dont have problems nor ever get pulled over and hassled.

Check out this pond weed. Here is me and a X6m trying to stay the f**k out of dodge down the end of the car park and look what rolls in... weekend warrior battle scars and all. Thinking about building a proximity camera that works of shock detection. Would be a hit.
