$50k E30 M3 makes the $25k E30 325 look cheap

There are much better examples on TM at the moment for the right price and the right modifications/maintenance. -
Mate of mine made me up some spares for my e30 a while back. Was free however. Doesnt really help you much with your online qoute request sorry.

fairly easy stepper motor control and a little bit of MCU programming = rad projects. Just to geek it up hard, brendon and I are doing the following; DSLive Display + real steering wheel + game.. then pop it off and go plug the whole thing into your real car.

ahhh is that whats its like driving a normal e30 steering rack *shudders*

been waiting for this for a while ever since I saw the i8 prototype in New Zealand Enjoy

Put the O2 sensors back in. Pay careful attention to the stock position, angle and depth. Also they need to be put in the right way around EG left and right sensors. Should have different plugs if I remember correctly.

Okies ... Managed to get this trailer marlarky sorted out. Wiring: There are three ways to to do trailer wiring on the 5 series. Two of them done right. The other one would be how you would of done it back in the day but certainly not a good idea with out a good electrical understanding of the LCM. Options are: OEM Trailer module, Aftermarket wiring module and relays, tap straight into the existing tail light wires. I choose obviously the first one, OEM trailer module after a trip up to HellBM. With reseach done on the module and how it works. Module A6 (Trailer Module) is wired into the LKM (Light Control Module) and voltage supply, fuse and ground lines around the car. The rest of the lines are for the 13pin round euro trailer plug. The photo below was me opening it up after towing to finish it off. I resoldered the wires to stop any fraying or breakages I decided to wiring in my own 7 pin New Zealand/Australian standard plug. After I figured out what was what I came up with the below wiring which at first when I tested with a volt meter .. gave me some very strange results. I found out that it wasnt until I put load on the trailer module did it work correctly. Basically I plugged the trailer into the connector and all lights worked perfectly. A big thanks to Ray @ HellBM for working with me through all of this with parts supply and allowing me to try a few things out with spare parts. There is no coding thats needed of the LKM(LCM). However people from overseas have complained that their LKM hasnt worked with the trailer module and needed to get a new one. I suspect that is more the case that their LCM didnt have the correct flash loaded into it and bought a new one thinking that was the problem, when they could load the latest flash into the LCM to solve the communication issue. In usual 540 fashion, you dont even notice you have something on the back. What its designed for For those of you interested, I found a place that hires out 50mm coupling trailers on closer inspection it turn out that some crowd in Cambridge actually make the multifit 50mm & 1 7/8ths coupling. It was awesome so have emailed them for a price Much better than the clunky pieces of s**t you normally see on hire trailers. http://www.hautapu.co.nz/Services/Jobbing/Trailer+Parts.html A6 (AHM) 20Pin German Abbr. Car will be running open loop without them. It may or may not have had a tune on the open loop maps to kind of work. Probably not though. Only way to find out is to chuck it on the dyno with a mobile wideband up its pipe. The noobs who removed it would have done it when removing the cats and not had the bosses re welded back in. You cant really code them out so to speak its just that the DME is now in open loop mode (not very efficient and probably loosing a bit of power)

People don't pay extra for mods unfortunately.

Yep if you were doing the partial read/write way. Again, I prefer the EPROM way as you have a lot more control over what your doing without the aggragate layer getting in the way.

BMW 9 Series Concept. Source: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2014/04/bmw-9-series-previewed-vision-future-luxury-concept.html Is there a place in the market for an ever larger sedan than the BMW 7 Series? The German automaker has unveiled the Vision Future Luxury concept, hinting that a 9 Series could become a possibility if the affluent demand it. According to BMW, the Vision Future Luxury concept “epitomises the notion of modern luxury for the BMW brand.” Essentially, the concept shows a long-term outlook on how BMW is perceiving the modern luxury market and potentially a new range-topping model. It draws heavy influence from the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe that debuted at the Villa d’Este nearly a year ago, except this time it’s sporting four doors and is clearly a rather large vehicle with plenty of space in the rear. SEE ALSO: BMW 9 Series Concept Rumored for Beijing Since it’s a concept car, BMW also took the opportunity to pack it with tons of next-generation tech such as a new head-up display, a detachable Touch Command Tablet and BMW Laserlight in the front. “Innovative technology and modern luxury have always been an important part of BMW’s brand DNA,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “We use visionary concept vehicles like the BMW Vision Future Luxury to show where we may be going with these themes in the future, and to give us new inspiration and motivation. The BMW Vision Future Luxury – with its innovative technologies and with meticulous precision and quality in every detail – takes our thinking on modern luxury a logical stage further.”

Haha. Basically in the most dumbed down way to explain it is yes it can be done fairly easily in software. Im recommending to do it by installing the ews module key and dme to retain drive away protection. Tom is recommeding reflashing the dme and removing drive away protection function. Both of us can do the software way. But there are no garentees it wont brick the ecu. It probably wont but if it happens you cant pin it on the person flashing the dme.

The engine is better than the old donk that are in them ... do any decent corners with the old engine and you're garenteed to run a bearing or 5.
-
Tom, Just re-read what I wrote and your reply earlier .. I probably should have put in there "electrically cant just be bypassed due to rolling ESN code changes" instead of "cant just be bypassed due to rolling ESN code changes" In essence we are talking about the same thing

It is in collectors territory with a twist of someone who wants to actually drive it with that m88 engine Love it, its what I would have done!

Thought of asking Ray ? at the end of the day its just a bearing replacement and maybe a crank skim. I hate to say it but asking a dealer to do a engine rebuild is like asking a top law firm to do your private property sale conveyancing. Maybe find someone who does engine rebuilds who doesnt charge as much Who knows you could probably then afford to do all sorts of other preventative matainence while the bottom end is out too, EG vanos guides etc.

Tom, its still not a trival thing to do and you do need to know the pitfalls if it all goes wrong and how to prevent. Most people dont understand the constant supply current of 13.4v that is needed on the programming line to ensure 0 errors. Any none stable supply can have just as bad effects as a under voltage. Also that software is charging for other open source efforts. The check sum is not that hard work out if you take your time yourself. I myself prefer socketing / EPROM burning to avoid the flash counter Around the speed issues .. you need to look at a DSC transplant. Or edit DSC branching program blocks in the DME and code it out of the diag tables.
