PM Kayne Barry (KBM) or track him down on facebook if your looking to fix it. or atleast some advise on the syncro. as with most experts in the inductry hes not into time wasters but is the authority on BMW gearboxes in NZ.

Due to the higher compression m motors run you need to use true 98 ron. While m motors have the ability to retard timing to prevent detonation it is not recommended because you have a car that is closer to the limits. Detonation is a bit of a funny term as people attributed it to and engine going bang, while in reality is like a slower thing that causes damage and stress to your rotating mass/head. Putting 95 in wont kill the car but it certainly is the best thing for an m motor especially at hight rpm. Other lower compression bmw engines are ok to run lesser fuels however as their range for self adjustment is greater due to lower compression. All modern engines use knock sensors on the side of the block to determine this.

Thanks, yes that is now in place. The questions will get harder while we are going through this. We have tried the explicit route before .. but its a lot of work for everyone envolved.
  9. Hi guys, I think with the move to the new software we have awoken the beast. We are under attack from spammers. You guys can help us by reporting a thread (as some of you have done thank you) When you report a thread .. all of the moderators get an email telling us so. I have email on my phone so I get it straight away and will act on it pretty much straight away. We are actively working on ways to combat this issue. Thanks for your help Bimmersport Crew.
  10. Added tip .. if on the main forum screen you want more space, you can mouse over the top right hand corner of the calendar which will reveal a 'X" to close the right hand panel.
  11. how do we answer that Clinton? I think problem youre having is with the fact you log into separate devices ... cookies are reset between devices and therefor you have to log back in again. Its a security "by design" feature of the software. This feature was turned on to stop a problem we were having with Troy a long time ago where he would log into his flatmates PCs and post under them. This has helped stop this sort of childish behalvior .. Basically we are dammed if we do or dammed if we dont.

Pretty much my new favorite car on Bimmersport. Well done.
  13. Will look into it Lucan ... keep reporting problems here. Also if some of you are missing your avatars .. please just re-upload them as they have been lost in the upgrade. The forum was on some very old software so the migration scripts have done the best they can .. but they dont cover everything.
  14. PS try it on a tablet ... so much better
  15. actual 1000000 It was a big debate about the theme type (light or dark) ... everything lightish we tried looked washed out. wanted something a bit more modern looking.

Still having some issues with images on the main forum .. will work through them over the next couple of days.. but otherwise .. check out the mobile version of the site on your phones when your out
  17. Nice work jamez and ollie.
  18. Here is a diagram from BMW explaining the charateristics of what oil pressures you should expect from a 'normal' BMW engine and oil pump. I ran this data over my curves in the s50 and I indeed see the same behalvior. Ignore lines 2 and 3 on datamap oil pressure control etc .. Item 1 (Yellow line) is the line youre interested in. Also added a handy little conversion table to help read it.
  19. Disconnecting the battery wont reset any memory. Modules in BMWs just dont function like that.
  20. Lol .. Ketamine effects people differently. Some people have side effects while others dont. The wife had elbow ulna nerve surgery last yeah and she had it... apart from being very sleepy she was fine. When it wore off thats when the pain started... poor thing. Our guitarist had stones .. said it was good times as well ... so fell for you man.

  22. Firstly ... nice work on the car! .. stoked! Even got a little bit excited watching that video Around Oil pressure.. seems to be a funny thing in the S/M50 engines. My setup for the s50 is a e34 525i oil pickup with modified s50 pump. I have seen as low as 9PSI idling on mine. I tried out just topping the oil up a little bit more and put it down to the design of the e34 525 m50 pickup and sump. My stable pressure at idle is 25PSI and around 40-75PSI driving around. Ive been mapping it with my new datalogger system and its really interesting seeing what is normal and what isnt. I also found that when the oil level was below optimum I would even get a running pressure of 14PSI which would trigger alarms on my logger. Conditional: If RPM = or greater than 1500RPM & Oil Pressure is below 15PSI then alert. I'm working on a safe engine cut if it drops below 7PSI. EG driving down the motorway at 100kph @ 3kRPM. However driving around corners or putting my foot down would raise the pressure to 50PSI. I put this down to oil cavetation in the sump. My sump could probably benefit from baffling to help stop this. Interestingly enough, racing around Hampton on slicks and the dreaded long turn 6 .. I was stable @ 50PSI on oil pressure all around and also the rest of the track. So no pickup issues under hard driving which is great.
  23. Sam owns one .. its sitting in a garage / storage at the mo as hes off working abroad.
