It doesn't need to be the exactly of your car but model and colour should help. Ill go first. Mr Hanky, car edition. Cut the springs and chucked a fart canon on the back. Uh yea, I was tough.
-
yeah you did ... Well it worked quite well. Had driven other 325 e30s and none of them felt as strong. I quite regularly took on stock turbo cars with no issue in those younger years

Julian Julian Julian .. haven't you learnt to have a set of "runner" wheels that go on the car when ever your cars out of your control? I learnt the hard way a few times until I started doing this... or just give you car to someone you trust instead.

They have never died out ... we still meet every second Thursday up in browns bay .. Think I've only missed 5 pub meets in the last 7 years they have been running.

I had a superchip one from the UK in my tech one before the engine upgrade. Gus who has a light weight tech2 with cams and lightened flywheel 280,000ks and myself with just the chip and 360,000ks had a straight line race once. His car would normally spank stock 325 engined cars. But with mine it was even. It all depends if you trust the tuner who's done the chip. Superchips is a pretty trusted brand chip so I know they were as good as you could get without going to a dynoshop. Maybe find out more about the kamakuza brand stuff first. It is your car remember.

Because repairers hate insurance companies.. so when it comes to the small stuff or if a company cant be bothered doing the work, they quote high to make it go away. This is how a lot of cars are writen off.

MOST insurance companies in NZ unfortunately have a macdonalds approch to insruance. Like most of the generic motor trade industry in this country unless its a toyota, ford, mazda or falcodore they just dont understand it. Things like rain sensors have only just started appearing on cars recently while BMW has had them for over ten years. The aussie made screens are just imported asian ones. That same factory rubbish doesnt make them windscreen experts. Have a look at your insurance policy with a fine tooth comb. At the end of the day if you threaten court with insurance companies you will win. Because it costs a lot more for them to defend in court for such things. Something I learnt from 'loss adjustment officier' one time. Tried that out once and it worked Always document and threaten court if youre not getting your entitlement on your claim. However read the fine print!

This is just a another thought to the fire. Dylan's m3 suffered from something like this when you gave it a bit of herbs. It would hit would would seem like a rev limiter after flooring it up to 6krpm (or there abouts) It wouldnt do it if you slowly increased revs however as soon as you floored it up around 6-8krpm it would limit to 6k rpm. It turned out to be a rubber intake hose that would collapse under load. Thats why every time you opened the bonnet it would all look fine.

Sounding good gents ... I'm looking at an 08 model with the 265bhp model engine. @ 1350kgs is pretty good in my book for daily. I tried to talk myself into a 120i .. but as both of the cars are each around 300 HP mark I just couldnt do it. Plus the appointment of the 130i seems a lot better. EG leather etc.

Any e87 130i owners out there.. or anyone who's driven them. I'm interested in people experience good or bad. Fuel economy comparable to a 330 ?

old bimmersport cruise run for many years ... is a good one for sure. I think we were all out this weekend enjoying the weather!

did I miss something ? Why not hit up your friendly wrecker for a good second hand unit and re-install ? Or even just the tin and seal if you dont want the whole carrier. Aftermarket is a bit rangi.

Its worth 10-12k tops. 35k minus the repair cost minus about 5 k for the "its a crashed car" $$$.

great to see some of these grandma held onto it for ages cars coming into the community. There are very few around these days in such condition. The race series and skidz brigade have pretty much wiped out the breed in NZ.

that 2002ti is awesome

Do you konw what I think Raerae ? polish the lips to a mirror finish using a wet and dry method and buffing wheels. Then paint the centers a champign colour. On your car that would be the tasteful and stand out look I would be going for. Just a note: going dark on a dark car will remove the contrasted look most people want. You can only really get away with dark on light coloured car. This is what I did my first set of LMs that way. It was going on a polaris silver car. For dark cars you want to stick with light colours

Really nice car Tristan. Im sure youll add some great additions to it. e92s are quite hard to modify in the wheel department. Lots of people either get it really right or really wrong. I think its to do with the shape of the car. One things for sure, the old school look doesn't work at all. EG style 5 buzz or even to a point BBS LMs without the right dish. Also unfortunately because of the perceived length of the car (its lines) you need 20s on the e92 chassis to give it that properly modified look.

North / West areas ... Haven't been looking south as it doesnt suit our plans so to speak.

Is purchasing a 20 year old E34 sensible for a new car owner?
hybrid replied to Tidy30's topic in General Discussion
I would say if it passes the PPI fine then its going to be the same as any other car. To be honest the e34 is the last of the cars BMW did before the recycled plastic invasion happened. This is why you see older BMW examples still driving fine at 280,000ks. My e30 (very well looked after its whole life) had 360,000ks on original running gear and was a dream. Any car can blow a head gasket, or run a bearing. The thing is to (as with any car) is to think about preventative maintenace. But if a thermostat decides its going to get stuck closed after only 20,000ks its just bad luck. As others have said parts are cheap. And you can even get good cheap parts in NZ too. BM workshop can help you there as well.
