  1. Looks like a good option http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/store/s...de/E389SDCK.htm I did see another place doing replacement alloy kits. The only think you need to be careful with replacing the alloy radiator is that is doesn't at all ground to the chassis. Other wise you can have electrolysis over time and it will start to corrode the insides of your engine because each metal is dissimilar. The coolant acts as a catalyst. After you have measured with a volt meter the continuity (or lack of) between the alloy radiator and your chassis and engine block. You should be good. Went through this with my e30/s50b32
  2. Watch out for the hipsters that now want e30 convertibles. Get in there and steal it from them! Just say no to hipsters
  3. The problem is they didnt move with the times. All eggs in one basket so to speak. They were really only known for the e46 m3 turbo kits. Once the fad died the business model will crumble. Its a shame really because I really do believe that they had the right attitude and qaulity products to boot. Im sure they researched the e9X m3 turbo kit side of things but maybe it just wasnt possible ? who knows. Its a big risk starting a company and growning so fast like they did .. but its an even bigger risk if you dont have a full proof backout plan when things dont work out. Just as fast as you grew, you need to be able to shrink to stay alive when things get tough.
  4. They kind of messed up the description of the 'euro' version. Basically the s50bxx engines are nothing like the 3.0 m50s the US cars have. While the block design maybe be similar (not in materials) .. that's where it stops. I think that's why the under spec US e46 looks so good to them.
  5. Forward engagement drum has probably split ... get a second hand one and replace. Cost of refurb is 1000s ... I had reverse go in my old 300i. Hellbm do a replacement service for e46s .. check the forum sponsors directory.
  6. yeah, Happened to me with a cat on the wellington motorway on the 540. I took the opportunity to upgrade from the mtech2 bumper to an m5 one ... thanks insurance
  7. Nice, probably just needs a centre muffler change out to quieten it down but keep the tone so to speak. Also Tristan, no going off and buying a blimmin Subaru or something as bad when you do get your new car. Wont be impressed ...
  8. Nice, you'll enjoy that car .. its a good one
  9. PM bellicose, I'm sure he'll partake some knowledge your direction.
  10. Looks pretty high off the ground for MSSII.
  11. That price is about right for a pre face lift with mtech kit. Its missing the msport suspension II by the looks however, xenons and rings.
  12. Jamez and I started a new trend.. riding high. basically open the sunroof and wind the seat up as high as possible until your head pokes out the sunroof. Helps being 6'3 you heard it here first!
  13. The rust is about 1500-2k worth for the roof and you'll be starting to look at top end work for the head / cams into the 300,000s. 7k sounds about right too for this car of this age.
  14. Mint yeah sweet i hear ya on the $$$ thing ... especially when life is on a different priority direction. I personally love the colour combo... very different and once your on point with tires its gonna kick some serious ass looks wise. Great thing about your car is it has my favour engine conversion ever and is a major hoot to be in for raw ass kicking action.
  15. Hey man, really glad to see you have them on the car. I really don't mean to sound like a dickhouse .. the front tires I think are probably the wrong profile / side wall design for those wheels. You don't need to go stretched or anything silly like that but maybe the next profile or width down ? I do understand however your car is rolling around CHCH and the roads aren't that flash done there however so may have been a deliberate choice? Your rears look sweet but maybe look at dropping width or profile in the front to match the rear profile? are they square fitment tyres on a staggered setup wheel? Hard I know that you have probably purchased the tires already. I did the same thing with mine .. ran a 40% profile on a 235, when what I needed was a 225 35 on a shorter shoulder tire. I ended up re-purchasing a whole new set of tyres in the correct size and I was so glad I did even if I spent another 1200 :/ Please take this as constructive feedback and not me having a go .. I was actually really at two minds weather to type it or not.
  16. Nice dude ... really cool to see this coming together .. The more insane e30s the better in this country I say. A certain UK performance mag has shown interest in getting a few articles done from over this way
  17. Your probably looking at a bunch of modules that need to be reset or at least diagnosed. I had to say it but e60/e90 etc systems aren't like e46/e39 systems. If something isn't plugged in and working 100% it can effect the running of other things such as the seat modules. The seats in a e60/e90 need a CAN signal .. they will let you power them up for about 20 seconds to move them after that they lock out.
  18. Probably the best f1 documentary I've watched in a long time. I really miss proper documentaries where they actually explain things and its not dumbed down and glossey for the masses. I'm looking at you 'Discovery' channel. Part 1 Part 2
  19. Think I found one cheesier Tom
  20. I could do it through HellBM .. EG Ray gets me up to programme stuff
  21. Changing the SA code only updates the dealer option table. Updating the module options only adjust configuration for certain features. The actual ECU code still needs adjusting as well as map curves for idle control.
  22. Yeah, I think it wont be too hard to program in the electronics to get the mechanicals working of it. However the mapping or profiling of smooth shifts under different load condictions etc will be hard. The only way to do this is to data log everything, look at the data and create a model from it. What you could do is do it manually (EG drive the car normally) then copy the logged data and replicate it and slowly increase the speed until you have fast shifting. The trick is to have smooth transition for cornering as not to unload the car.. laptimes will fall with this working.
