  1. Actually another cause is that the server has just moved IP addresses. So clear out your cookies and some of the login logout issues should disappear. Remember to do this on all of your devices.
  2. Yeah, the SMG actuator isn't too difficult .. its throttle blip on down changes and load lift of acceleration of the motor control i'm trying to figure out. SMG1 did it .. need to have a look at it. Maybe we should take a look together ? Here is something else Ive been looking at you can add to the list http://www.shop.cae-racing.de/index.php?a=35&lang=eng
  3. Toying with a few ideas, SMG e30 or sequential shift paddles. The hard thing is timing of the dis-engage and engage with throttle blip or hold. This way you can actually do it without syncro mesh, however one mis-timed shift and its bye bye gearbox haha. The programming I would do in a prototyping MCU and make up my own hardware using a darlignton array or the likes. Then it can be switched with digital HI/LO 5volt switching. The dream of keeping the foot down in the corners and changing gears would be awesome. This would be the ultimate however I don't have a spare 20k laying around though. http://www.drenth-gearboxes.com/products/g...00-gearbox.html
  4. Its what you see in WRC or formula style cars with quick paddle shifts. These are based on proper dog gear sequential gear boxes however. The air change system is in addition to this to assist with quick f1 style shifting shifting. EG crude one here Its not too far to adapt it to 5 speed h pattern. Just have to think a bit more about the gear engagement being 2d instead of 1d
  5. Just some FYI. The x3 chassis is based on the e46. The drive train is different however. The interior electronics and functions are all based on the FL e46. Same goes for x5 and e39
  6. Ive been looking at a Sequential air setup for manual ... would require fancy SMG style clutch solenoid and some full on programming to make it work. Im still keen on doing this but will be a bench setup first
  7. Yeah, most people end up coming around to it. Good to see, youll love it
  8. haha awesome .. more photos
  9. It doesnt matter what you use its gonna leak out anyways, its a BMW.
  10. Ahh yeap. Do you know the weight of the engine ? A fuel cell can actually cause issues with weight distribution eg when fuel level changes. It can also help mask a heavy engine however too in the handling department by getting some weight over the rear wheels.
  11. That's one of many reasons. Yours is probably a cracked circuit board in the ABS pump control module in your case. http://www.magnum1.com/magnum/BMW-740/740_...-Repair-740.php Scanning the car will reveal some clues, but not always the issue. As Glenn says it take someone with some understanding to work it out. You can actually work it out for yourself, it just gets harder when you don't have components to swap out and test.
  12. Will be a nice weapon. Cant wait to see it on the track. Some info if you don't already have it. Fuel system in e30 Pre-fl needs external low pressure high vol lift pump into surge then high pressure low volume pump (walbro/Bosche 044 etc) to charge the stock rails enough for your injectors. FL cars don't need this as they just need an in tank high pressure pump change out. Los of people leave this part out and hit the track and wonder why they get fuel starvation in the long corners.
  13. I think its not too bad, Ive seen worse. The American gloss brigade is painful to watch when they try and keep up with the cool kids by doing youtube videos. Also they ALL seem to start with the BMW m3 and do drag races. WHO CARES ABOUT STRAIGHT LINE TESTS?!?!? NO BODY!
  14. CCFL wont last as long as LED and are kind of rubbish as far as brightness is concerned. However most LED rings have average diffusion rings and you can see the spaces in-between the LEDs. Just a few things too look out for.
  15. OG bimmersport projects. Looking awesome and I bet you it will do the corners like a demon with the engine that far back/low. Nice engine bay dragon btw
  16. You need to be looking at polarised monitor systems and/or oLED displays. They have a much better contrast ratio and don't rely on a back light. Polarisation will remove the glare. Just a side note, these can have issues when wearing polarised sunglasses .. the monitor can appear blank. But its a trade off. There is no real silver bullet to the problem accept a sun shade.. This is why all modern BMWs have the monitors inset into the dash or popup screen. It also has a lot to with the vehicle the screen is going into EG the e46 dash board angle is quite bad for sunlight interference where as the e39 is much better. I have had success with MIMO monitors .. and have since moved on to developing my own solution using OE stuff from manufactures
  17. I too have given up, even though I'm only buying parts through the dealers. I totalled up the amount I had spent with them and it was around half a price of a new 3 series over the last 8 years and also put several customers through them who have all bought cars. The local parts guy was excellent however he only so much pull. Never got an invite, while indicating that I would definitely be keen. They also knew what I was building too at the time. I'm in tom's boat these days .. gave up a few years ago caring. As a result I just don't buy there anymore and also stopped lending on favours and advice to their workshop. However it wasn't all one way, I managed to get to sit in an m1 and the hans stuck group 5 car. That was pretty special.
  18. Lol those show and shine certs have my autograph on them hahaha.. forgot about that.
  19. Leave the fairing off and double headlight convert it. Leave it looking street bike ...
  20. perfect. Have been watching it online in HD last season. Will be a good treat for sunday watching.
  21. Topic's served its purpose now .. locking.
  22. Its because of the way the forum software works ... if you log in using another device it will then generate a new cookie for the browser rendering the one on the last device in active. There isn't really a way to change it sorry. Annoying I know.
  23. That's the only way to clean and polish a car .... I regularly clean the e30 when I'm board and give the engine bay a good tooth brushing
  24. I REALLY want to drive a GT3 RS .. its a car I would buy in a heart beat if I had a chance too.
