  1. I hope thats a real show. I want it. Anyone watch grumpy old men. That was crack up
  2. ^ and insurance to cover wheels/ tyres
  3. Usually such cases they say if tge road is good i side the white lines its his fault. Same as if you get a broken wheel from a pothole outside the white line its not their fault. Strangly one of the best condition roads ive driven lately was the forgotten highway. Well maintained. Nicely repaired and even the dirt sections and evenly graded
  4. I can still not get over the fact that hamilton doesnt have a single man hole cover flush with the road. All are either raised or sunken. And they always put them in the main wheel tracks. Road works is one of the last trye manual jobs. Everything else has become more efficient and manchine reliant but truth of the matter is every roading prohect takes thousands of man hours and every time minimum wage goes up it costs more. We cant afford to have good roads when we are paying f**kwits $30+ an hour to stand around.
  5. A four lane highway is only as easy as the hardest part. try putting four lanes around the taupo lake front. you cant bypass taupo as its surrounded by maori land that they wont sell.
  6. No complaints around taupo. Only dislike is they use that slippery white paint for lines in town. Have seen plenty of people fall when exiting cars. Also not enough room for cyclists but in fairness the cyclists insist of riding on a narrow road that services foresty. Quarrys and geothermal construction.
  7. Compared to the rest of the world i think we do quite well as far as design etc. Good camber and consistant radius corners. Costs will always be high when you consider how much road we have per capita vs most crowded countries. Only gripe i have is they constantly take the lowest bid. They save 10% but need it resealed twice as often because it falls apart. Poor economics but looks better on todays budget. At the expense of next years
  8. Second hand rad should be fine. Biggest thing is cleaning it out asap to get oil off you rubber hoses. Google oil in radiator cleaning and get onto it sooner rather than later. 540i has a 5hp30 from memory which is v8 only through 5,7 and 8 series. Quite abit harder to find than my 525i trans. Might pay to keep the idea of a manual box tucked away in the back of your mind...
  9. Depends if you go with a new radiator. I replaced my radiator eventually and hooked the cooler lines up as stamdard and hoped i didnt burst another cooler. In the mean time i hooked the two trans hoses into a small oil cooler behind the bumper. But i also had to block off the two unused fittings on the radiator as being split inside water could still escape. Mine sat for at least a week before being worked on so you may be better off as far as cooling but im.suspicious of trans damage. Alot may happen straight away if the plates slip due to water ingress when it was running
  10. Agreed. Netherlands proved that brazil have lost it which hopefully means that germany werent that great and it will be a close game.
  11. I sell polar snow chains at work. Can sort you a price etc if you have tyre size handy. Often those size wheels/tyres will need to be ordered in so most shops will have to allow a couple of days delivery. Proper sized chains shouldnt touch rim and will have plastic covers to prevent damage if it does. Snow socks are grippy on ice but are only designed for very short trips. Open roads will shred them very quickly even at 20kph
  12. I had it on a 525i. Problem is the over flow went both ways so i ended up with oil in water and water in trans. Trans was flushed immediatly. Went ok for a few months then totally failed with no warning. Put a second hand trans in went good. old trans had all the clutch disks chewed up in the sump. So not sure how well it can be fixed. If i had the issye again i might just swap the trans if i found one cheap enough. Biggest issue was despite a flush straight away with cleaner i had gunky oil residue forever coming out of the radiator. Within that same 6 months the heater valve clogged and froze. Header tank oring failed and leaked then a heater hose failed. Best bet is see how far the issue runs and get all areas cleaned. Talk to radiator shop for advice if trans fluid is in radiator. I have been told washing powder is good in oilled cooling systems. I have since used that method in a sentra which had the radiator topped up with 15w40 by mistake. Worked very well. Lots of bubbles though. Finally block off trans cooler and install a proper trans cooler seperatly. They work much better.
  13. Yea the big round plug in.the engine bay is the obd1 port
  14. I have one but im in taupo. Just check its possible to read that data. Its not just a case of adapting plugs alot of things arent there on an obd1 system

Saw the ads. Didnt know it was out yet
  16. I never bothered to take them. The employees here are very special. Anything extra and they get confused so i didnt bother
  17. Totally agree. I was more implying thats the one part of the contract that isnt detailed. Hopefully see some good drivers out having a go with murph etc
  18. Its a good setup. Only thing i would want clarification is what does refurbished include? Full repaint and new bushes or just touchups and an oil change
  19. You can get good narva bulbs at sca or repco. For about 40 bux per bulb. Darker blue the glass the whiter they look. Or you can get cheap bulbs of trademe fir about 15-20 a pair. In my experiance trademe bulbs actually last ok
  20. Did as above. Pulled plugs very wet. Turned.over and got fuel squirt out. Blew out with compressor. Little oil in each. Brand new dry plugs. Turned over at full throttle. Wanted to kick and sounded better but after 30 seconds went back to what it was with wet plugs again. Will take plugs out tomorow repeat process and let it sit for a while to dry out plugs etc as much as possible.
  21. I have a cousin in den hauge. His comment this morning was " last time the germans behaved like that we got a new courthouse" not sure if too soon.
  22. Supercheap have to order it and freight bumps the price up so last time i got a couple for use in future projects toi
  23. To be honest this sounds like standard corporation issues where they farm out these jobs to their pr department instead of talking to the cust service reps. Somewhat unavoidable as businesses get bigger. But the poor responce once its been bought to their attention shows a lack of care and integrity. Im guessing the organiser looked at who bought tge most cars last year and invited someone who bought a 1 series for every family member or someone who leased 10 x 3 series. While you seem to dump the gdp of a small nation into upgrade parts etc. Ive always found the best bet is to find one person you really know who will go the extra mile. Parts or branch manager and always talk to them as they are the only ones who knows who you are and what they have to lose.
