Cool thanks. Will try that

Sounds like a misfire. Which can damage the cats hence the.warning. The code scan should tell whats wrong pretty easy.
-
Tried again this morning. it is firing as the exhaust gets heat in it (easy to tell when its -1'c) im guessing if nothing comes back on the code scanner i will have to get the bottom pulley to tdb pop the rocker cover off and check the cam alignment at the back where the locking tool goes. so his three options if the chain has skipped is either reset it (i would suggest replacing tensioners etc while there) chuck in a new motor or sell as is. will keep everyone posted

i would probably drill it and tap a bigger thread. the valley pan has alot of bolts so would probably survive with one missing but if it leaks you dont want to ever go back there to fix the issue.

So a friend of mine has a 1997 e36 323i m52b25. has been running sweet no noises or issues. relatively well maintained, no crud in engine etc. he went to start it this morning and while the engine was turning over he slipped his hand off the key which flicked back to the ACC position very quickly just as the car was about to catch. this caused the engine to get a full compression cycle but not fire. so it sort of made a clunk sound and stopped rotating fairly quickly. Then on turning over again its turning and firing but not quite catching to start. so it making a firing noise and turning faster than usual. still has compression on all cyl. to both of us this sounds like it may have skipped a tooth on the timing chain. theory being while not running the tensioner has no pressure to hold the chain tensioned. and it may have essentially hydrauliced on air pressure any input as to if this could be right? no warning lights on but haven't had someone out to read the codes yet.

I got a din88 for $380 from supercheap. Though many will use a din65 which are on the shelf at sca for $265. The smaller one should be fine especially a 6cyl

My e39 does this sometimes if i dont put key in totally. Was told its just a security feture to avoid people forcing the lock with a screwdriver

I actually is. I just looked back at a charity auction svg did and had the same user name. More likely his dads car. As he has been a ford racer and collector for many years

Yea oddysey ones are popular in race cars where space is an issue.

Gel batteries have more power for the size They are gel based inside instead of liquid acid. This means they can be mounted at any angle and are much longer lasting. expect to spend 400-500 from what i remember

I have run a 740i on a din55. Not reccomended size but was all that was available at the time. Any smaller size than that you will be looking at a gel battery i would say. Get you bank account ready though

E30 Racecar Engine Swap.. with a difference..
yng_750 replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in Projects
So is stuck injectors common place with an engine that has been storesld for a while?. Not saying giving them a tap will hurt them but wouldnt you be better off replacing them seeing as losing an injector mid race can ruin a whole weekends racing? Or will they be good once abit of fuel has flowed? -
Brent means to pump kero through the lifters to clean them. even with no plugs will a starter last that long?

From my small knowledge i thought ac was more efficient but dc was much better at reverse generation. could be wrong though
