when you install an aftermarket alarm, its not like the EWS magically disappears. Why not have two alarms for insurance reasons?

is it slower to turn over, or just takes longer to catch? i know youve had a few cars does it appear to turn over slower than it should? most cars will start easier when hot anyway

my E34 is like that, you can pull the knob up but it doesnt unlock the door. a right prick if the battery goes flat. some of them have the locks sink away into the doors when locked too.

nice, i need that ACS steering wheel, not that i like it more than the tech2 in my E34, but to complete the picture! only critisim is the hand brake lever all on the piss and no aircon!

ahh thats my conversion cleared up then, and why i needed a cat. mine is a 1990 Jap import so meets A and B, and i used an M52 which was after 1990. a bit unfair when the 89 and 90 E30 is identical but thems the rules.

I was told that because i had a late model engine (M52) which originally had them in its donor chassis (ie the E36 and E34 both had cats) and that there was room under the E30 to fit one then it had to be there. The rule changed in April last year iirc, may be off by a month or two. I remember this because he told me to try and get the car through before that so i didnt have to re-make the exhaust. That said, at the end of the day, its down to whatever your certifiers interpretation of the rules are though, just the same as a WOF inspector. If he says you need it, you need it. If not, then you dont. And yes they do vary.

I dont like the term Apple Fanboy but i guess i am. Yes i have an iPad, and yes i have an iPhone 4S. The the former i dont use and explained why i got it above, the iPhone i got not because i wanted apple, but because i wanted the capabilities of a smart phone but i HATE android. Win7Mob wasn't mainstream enough for me, and is Windows based which scares me. I do however love Mac computers, i think they are the bee's knees. None of my Macs have ever crashed, and ive had everything from G4 Power Macs to Intel MacPro Desktops and Servers to the brand new iMac now. have never owned an Apple laptop personally though. I sometimes repair them when they come in through work and they are very easy, despite what Windows techies will tell you. I think they say that because they refused to accept that the 'inferior' Mac is really a better technically designed product. I look forward to getting home to them after battling the XP system at work and 7 at school. If there was consistencey i would be happy, but the OS changes not only with every new release but seemingly every update. Macs have been functionally the same since OS9, only the facelift with OS10.5 and the addition of new features, but, once introduced, things have stayed where they always have been only two clicks away instead of the start, all programs etc preformance. i think i went off topic

i can only imagine how tiny the M40 engine would be perched in the middle of the engine bay. its tiny in my E30 lol

Got a question of my own, I have a Large case LSD in the shed, its Ex E34 540i, i think its a 3.9x What other models, including other E34s, will it bolt into right up? What would it bolt into with maybe modification (eg E30 and E28 medium cases are just a back panel change away from cross compatable) cheers

all of it is except the right hand plastic arm that clip onto the chassis the feet go into are longer for the M10 and M40. M20 radiator is an inch or two wider so has the same arm/mount as the left hand side. the foot itself that is on the raditor is interchangble though. dont have a pic sorry mate

pretty much. i only brought mine because my house got broken into and my iPod and laptop both got stolen, and after having just brought my 5, insurance pay out didnt give enough funds to buy both. Now i have computer again, its only used in the car for music. if the iPad ran OSX instead of iOS however, would be a completely different story

I pretty much always go to Shell/Z because its more NZ owned than any of the other ones, and have always had good customer service at pretty much every station. Even better now they have rebranded as Z. Converted the company i work for to them too. I use 91 in the E30s and 95 in the E34s, much better economy in the latter when using 95 over 91 so the increased cost is more than offset by the milage. Ive had a boycott against BP since they didnt take responsibility for scratching up my Sentra in thier carwash back before i got into BMWs. Yes its was a $500 car, but thats not the point. Aparently they sub contract the car washes out and I went to see the guy that aparently owns the carwash machine thing and he wasnt having a bar of it. And i HATE mobil, all of them ive been to down here are prepay even in the middle of the day. I can understand at night time, but during the day is a pain in the ass when you want to fill up. Queue up at counter, pay $150, fill up car, queue up again to get your refund, wait for them to get thier manager to figure out how to print a GST recipet of the amount i actually brought.........

After 6 years in this game and 14 to date, i like to think i know a thing or three about them
