  1. Not sure anyone is safe to buy a Jag off lol, He likes cars that are a bit different has the run of the mill, demio, odyssey, emina, corolla etc, but always has a nice euro or two, see a E32 in the background. He was a fussy buyer (of cars) back in the day, good idea get someone to look at it first, still at the lower end of the price scale though dude so don't expect a $10k car or anything.
  2. On subject has anyone tried "Grunt", that was good stuff can't find where to buy it. How much did you get for your coupe dirty?
  3. The one at admirals? He's a nice guy that dealer, been around a while now.
  4. Also that J-gate set up on them IMO is a non event nothing like the steppy in the 39, nothing like it, it does nothing really no manual mode at all. That maroon one is a 92 Kiwi, 4.0L, I just don't think that shape will grow into money, not that it matters really.
  5. No I don't know the car personally, but allot can be said of the sellers ethos and demeneor, you can tell allot about the person by the language and condition of in allot of cases their second biggest asset. Talking about the car listing. Seller stacks up, you get that what ever it need it gets approach has been applied, you might be able to talk to their mechanic (local) whats the bet it's the same one they have had for 20 plus years. Quite important in this case as you are buying an old Jag, my marriage would be over if I brought another Jag. If I was desperate to own a XJ40 again it would be that one. Also stay away from the 2.9l which increased to 3.2l. Heres the ones I've owned. 90 XJ40 4.0L Written off - drama 82 Series 3 ZT8367 sh*t loads of rust 66 Daimler EP5497 Huge project 56 MK1 still have ownership papers huge project. 64 MK2 Green brought for $3500 painted the engine bay sold for profit a few months later.
  6. Theres and XJ40 in Palmy dirty that is quite tidy, haven't attached TM lisitng not hard to find about the only 1 for sale, the maroon one for $3800. The square and twin headlights are interchangeable, just no-one does it, just an option at new which headlight package you wanted, Rodney rover spares should have a few wrecks for headlight change outs. They also snap manifold studs as well, so be carefull if that gasket needs changing and the ABS faults are just about throw away the car problems, that's what kills them, if the rust already hasn't. Still plenty of lucas electronics in them as well, good luck you are a keen man.
  7. Page European on Kapiti road is another, run the diagnosis feedback and what info you have on hand past them. Always E46's outside that place though. Let me know if you can't find the number.
  8. Those XJ jags are rust buckets, I've had one of those, rust around the rear screen like earlier models. Saying that if that stacks up and the price is right go for it, not as big of a following like BMW and Merc in this country though. The X300 is the model of that range but out of your budget. No doubt you will kepp us informed, an e36 with bigger engine might be the go, or even an E38.
  9. Yeah missed it too thanks for your efforts one of the best sites I visit, once you get to know the regulars it's all good as well as informative, shot.
  10. my god, imagine being run over at the crossing by that.

  12. Op v Nice car mate would you swap my wife kids and house?
  13. Sorry I wasn't lol, bet that white one scoots along good.
  14. Linky below, I think the owner of this car is a member on here. Thought it sounds quite rear if it's the case, if anyone from out of town buys these x 3 cars PM and I can give you a hand at loading them on your tow vehicle etc. Curious to know if it is that rear the 84 E28 Alipna? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=284050980
  15. Did anyone see Clarksons review of the X6 where he went all over the place, sh*t didn't look good for it.
  16. You are right I guess it's how you read it Hoffman Ford is one of the only privately owned Ford dealers in NZ, but not owned by a Hoffman anymore, but yes the Hoffman family are well sorted.
  17. Very wealthy the Hoff family, yes they have a few cars including the Texaco RS500 Sierra with ridiculous low milage, 1 of the only privately owned Ford dealers in NZ.
  18. Running out of pertorl on the Akl harbour bridge in my 77 EB1 civic automatic at 5.56pm on Friday night with no reg and the wof ran out on the Wednesday, lucky the black power were behind me in there beaten up old XE ute who just gave me the brutal bumper to bumper push, saved a ticket I suppose.

    new 540i

Looks like a $6k plus car though despite the purchase price.
  21. Or you could ring Shady's mate at transpro services. Funny read that.
  22. Hire a hire pool tandem trailer and get a grunty tow vehicle, plenty of hills between Akl and Hastings. That will cost close to $400 $300 ish anyway, a tow will cost more as it's not mobile and it will have to be transfered from the Hamilton - Akl truck etc, and will take a few days. I had a car transported from Hamilton to P North that was a truck swap even, and vehicle running add 50% to cost if vehicle not running. Best to get it your self or make some phone calls.
  23. I would wreck both of them Brent stick to your knitting that black cars interior is amazing condition, you'll be as big as www.fabdirect.com in no time.
  24. I had my car or two of them with Tower and I have just changed to Crombie Lockwood, the BMW is $350 pa inc GST and the van $366 pa inc GST beats $600 plus for both.
  25. Nice website Glenn, very professional.
