Above the headboard though ae............ -
I'd heard you Apiti boyz are all style ae once ya get off the farm - good call there as ya don't wanna be eating into the fuel / mods $$$ too much on trivial $hit when ya don't have to........ I think that last one is good buying - so is this............... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-651775537.htm Ok, the km's are up a bit, but gee, still good value I'm thinking. Realistically its a buyers market at the mo, & think of the extra $$$$ between this, & 12k or whatever, that you've still got in the bank for more tuna, or not paying interest on.............
-
I muttered 'FFS, only in Auckland' when I seen it............... cracked me up though. Maybe they've been 'that particular' on looking after the 540 too........... Hope you're remembered it'll cost ya at least a grand to go get it Ewan, (by the time ya fly up with 'Mum', wine & dine her, take her to casino & Sky tower, tip her over in a half decent hotel, & then do the fuel / McD's run all the way baaaaaaaaaaaaaack to home.......)
-
That pic tells 1000 words on its own............they 'look' OE though externally which I guess is a easy trap to fall for............
-
Pay Ray to check it out, & if its any good - I'd buy it. Its better value for money than the other one I reckon..........t6heres a few floating around 1k either side of that 8.5 price........
-
Funny - I've done lots of research on it for what to do to my 540, & I think the pic with no rear muffler is way to go. So long as middle resonator is in place, I'm lead to believe exhaust mods post that won't affect lower RPM torgue curve / figures. Mine will be much like Martin said, with 'cat delete' option ticked as well. (I don't have post kitty O2 sensors though). My Cruiser ute has had cat removed, 3 inch exhaust from the turbo, 1 x straight through muffler - sounds awesome, specially when getting a work-out.

Looks good!! Welcome to the site. I think your pics are fine...........just need more.

Even on good quality alloy 4WD rims ( CSA - Aussie made), I've had them become porus over time with hard use etc......., but have never actually damaged one, even during competition usage. Late model cars with 18, 19, 20 inch rims, & condom thickness tyres, have got to be putting huge shock loadings into rims / suspension / chassis points when being used on some of the rough goat tracks we call roads on this side of the world. Hit something hard enough, like even clipping a traffic island & the shock loading can be enough to set off the airbags, something people don't often think about. case in point, the 7 series on reTardme a while back that had done this scenario, setting off the door / curtain 'pillows' on that side of the vehicle........ Edit - speelling.
-
That's ugly, and seriously lucky, as looking at the damage its still had a fair bit of speed on when its gone under the truck...............
-
Your car looks like it does AND it sits outside???!!! I'll get Tui to drop ya a line - that's called 'taking the pi$$' just a little...................... I like Michael's way too - I certainly would be very selective in where I were to be pointing a water-blaster / steam cleaner in the engine bay area......
-
Come on Westy, that's called 'tormenting the poor ba$tard'..................well done!! Gorgeous car!! I think they've got be the ultimate 'Brock' in lots of ways. It'll sound weird but I even kinda liked the look of the late model VE ones they did too in that same colour..............
-
You should PM your address Julian - I'll send ya a jar of dust for Xmas for that nice sleek sexy paintjob - have it looking like every-one else's then....... Exhaust concept looks good.............I think yours'll work out a bit me politically correct than whats planned for my mods......
-
Lols - I got same FPO too..............I'm inclined to agree with ya. Hows it looking for a genuine one then......??? If I had the money, that 1 owner SLR would already be in my shed......
-
I agree with what you're saying Josh - I just think in this case there's more to it that a wheel 'not taking an impact'. Its much like people that put cheap & nasty tyres on a car, (& it really grates at me when its a performance / luxury / high end model that they're doing it on) - 4 little contact points that are the difference potentially between 'life & death', & we're just fitting cheap $hit??? Makes no sense in my world...........
-
Its rather special in that, say for arguments sake, 'plucking a figure', it takes 50m to stop this BMW from 100kph. (Its less than 40m really). Lets then imagine this brake disc has been 'locked' under braking (to stop rotation, thus causing flat spots x 2), for say 200m (road marker signs @ side of road are 100m apart on straight bits....). So we're talking super slooooow reactions, due to coupla wines, bit of P, whatever choice of the day is, or whatever, its just a 'scenario' - its surely got to have been driven on for some distance to have done the disc damage. And then, we've probably still hit something with enough velocity & momentum, that its caused the vehicle to roll......??? Remembering of course that brake discs are rather tough anyway........ Stuff like this is always really interesting I reckon........
-
Mmmmmm - just imagine Targa cars wound up bigtime on the straights on the Mainland, from Tekapo to Omarama....... that would be sweet
-
Cheers Graham - I think it was the 08 Targa, from Huntly to Welly - I ran as one of the winch / recovery vehicles, so was just wondering if you'd been on that one. Certainly a fun event, bigtime...... I know that year, there was some crazy 'offs' that happened!!!

Bummer, bigtime. You'll just have to keep taking pics of LH angle shots etc till it gets fixed........ -
Pfff - no need for dyno, you'll be able to feel the difference - you'll have to start wearing a neck brace so ya don't get whiplash when ya take off ae. Be careful it doesn't break loose & get away from ya....... It'll be interesting to get feedback on what ya reckon the difference is though. Only thing I've ever chipped was a Ducati, & it screwed up bottom end running enough that I went back to standard in the end.....
-
True that - that would have to travel a long way to do that damage to the rotor I woulda thought too - in some ways its a bit like on the Yank real life chase scenes, where ya see something rocking along at speed on 3 wheels, sparks going everywhere....... In the hub centre area - is that not a Motorsport 'M' on the wheels maybe, including the broken one.......??? I'm picking there's big bits missing from this story..........much like the wheel has big bits missing......
-
I don't think this is saying anything substantial - who's to say a OE wheel of the same type of spoke design etc, isn't going to have the same result under the same impact............?? Aftermarket wheels also (like OE) have certain load testing requirements & standards to be met........portraying anything like this in the manner it's being done here achieves nothing IMO unless you've got a bit more stuff being put into the equation as well - like crash report etc etc........random pics like this prove nothing bar hit something hard enough with enough momentum & weight behind it, & you'll break $hit......... IMO, its as relevant as saying the roof collapsed when it rolled............ Edit - Or are we trying to say 'impact on wheel' in pothole or whatever, caused the accident...............?? Looking at the damage, theres high odds its been caused by sideways load forces, not in a rotational type direction.......bearing in mind only going off pics really.
-
How long ya been doing Targa for Graham?? You on it in 08??
-
Funny - was just reading THAT in the paper a hour ago........... Flyin / Fryin (aka as the Suuuper Hot MR2) will probably NOT be entering the Targa. You'll be so glad I didn't especially join the forum just to clarify THAT ae........ (Somewhere out there, is a 'retard breeding zone' going full swing, even outside reTardeme.......)
-
Cracking up bigtime @ that - bloody funny........... Gooooood $hit though, I'd heard that Renault owners need a great S.O.H......................

This thing here------------------^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ sounds like a semi-expensive dessert you're maybe get offered off a menu while out for dinner, so with Google being everyone's friend, had a look - 'differant', springs to mind.
