Wow - that's a bright colour. Myself, I'd probably go same red as in the 'M' badge, or maybe body colour...........
-
Far out - that exhaust system, well done - great looking set-up!! Great job under-bonnet too, looking at pics it looks 'factory fit' sorta thing, in some sick perverse way, haha!! I think we now need a 'fly-by' sound clip or something........
-
I like the last one, but needs the first one's wheels on it........... NZ new counts for lots in my book, particularly at that age - even though kms are up a bit, its never seen salt on a road anywhere, although you can'nt cover yourself completely in that it may have lived by a beach sometime in it's life I suppose. I think its probably 1k or so too expensive with its current price. The LHD one at Turners has been for sale for ages, & gets progressively cheaper as time marches on. I'd avoid it personally, no matter how cheap it gets - LHD is a PITA, & in comparison with the NZ new one - it'll always be a bit of a orphan really I think...
-
Hmm, after you buy it, Id be expecting ya to have lots of loooong conversations about it with admirers when you are out & about in it.........
-
Lols - its starting to test your patience levels maybe........... Funny, I had same for a while after I first got my car, but seems to have come right over time so far.... (touch wood, lots!!!) Weird, as all the things I read bout O-rings, & cooling system problems has made me a bit paranoid now about that side of things........
-
Those BBS's look sweeeeet!! Lots beter than the other rims IMHO...........
-
No - didn't. Then tried meths on its own, with better but still unsatisfactory results...... Todays project was 'fit air-horns' (I run them on all my vehicles, as they're great for moving people-movers & muppets outa the way when ya need to), but gee, not a lot of room, & don't want to drill holes everywhere, so have put it in the 'still thinking bout it' basket. So went for a looong drive instead, & polished chrome bits when I got back...

Almost hit "Bid" on this Testarossa

I liked the Magnum PI one - was it a 308 or something?? That was kooool back in the day........(Gotta admit I know nada bout Ferrari's really....) -
I reckon even at 12-13 it would still be expensive enough personally............you could do a proper motorsport at that money I think. And its a import. Edit - have reread the ad - probably is a proper motorsport spec car..... I'd recommend tracing year / build date through chassis number info though, as being an import, sometimes the year info can be 'stretched a bit' when they are first registered in NZ......(depending on how, where, & who does that first rego....)

Big block 318 with a bonnet scope, beeeeautifull mate, just beeeautifull!! This guy, & this guy, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/325i/auction-637659157.htm with the purple pox mobile on chromies, have gotta be related surely, even if they're at different ends of the island........ Unique, for all the wrong reasons........ 'Had plans for lager engine' - dude, too many lagers or baaad drugs probably caused this to happen...............
-
Those 'M' badges - they stand for 'Mmmmmmmmmmmmm - yummmmmmmmmmmmmmy' I thinks................nice pics, awesome looking car........ (You into 'outcalls' for detailing........got a wee job for ya ae..........) Kool that ya believe in driving the girl as intended by Mr BMW.......I'm sure it'll create a few grins for you.

I really take my hat off to you guys ae. Seriously!! I've given up twice now, first time cold turkey, last time using 'pills', & my partner gave up at same time last time. The original post of Glenn's is so so so very true, its a ba$tard of a thing really, as somewhere deep inside you avertedly 'know' that you're slowly sorta 'killing yourself' with every smoke you have, yet that knowledge on its own isn't enough. I was 'gonna' give up, with first new ute I brought in 2004. Did'nt, but kept the inside of it smoke-free for a long time, until I said "Bugger it" one day on a trip back from Auckland. Various vehicles, & motorbikes have come & gone since. My BMW, I was a non-smoker when I brought it, & it still remains smoke-free, & will always, I just need to suck it up & grit my teeth & quit again, properly. My partner, she has done really well, & I'm so proud of her!! Me, hmm - I was doing fine, till the night my dog died - I brought a pack of smokes at that, which is 'weakness' really. Got a good mate of mine on the forum here, down south that quit 3 yrs ago, & he's rocked at it too, & if he can quit, so can I....... Theres my wee story so far anyway team......you guys that have stuck at it, well done!! Great thread Glenn.............

Someone else here might like this clip too (probably lots won't, haha!!). But hey, for some reason, I like this song, & this version here rocks, bigtime I think. The Joss Stone bits, not so much, but far out, Ethridge just nails it!! The 'about' bit on the clip makes it even more special really.... I like all sorts of music, depends on the mood...........and yes, I realise this was years ago - still fairly kooool today though too!! Piece of my heart - tribute to Janis Joplin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXlaeVDd_Tg

Looks like a 'sleeper' ae!! Sweet! Wheres the under-bonnet shots, haha!! All those exhaust tips, & a 325 badge - awesome!!

Today, 3.30ish - orange mid 70's 3 series (or 2002 BMW) heading out of Feilding, towards Ashurst. Looked primo & well looked after in the glimpse I got - also looked like is was LHD............was very kooool - made me smile anyway. Edit - I want the springs outa that 10-7 car above............sits nice!!
-
Oh yay. We'd probably be better off using him as an anchor...........you'd never shut him up.
-
I've sooooooooooo gotta stop looking at these pics!!! Just gorgeous - these pics get 10 outa 10 from me.
-
Awesome pics Julian. Just looks mint, bigtime!! I'd always thought my car was reasonably tidy for its age, but its got nothing on some of the gorgeous stuff in site like this - mines the poor cousin, haha!
-
Lols - glad ya did see the funny side of that........!! You got a thread on the E39 somewhere......??
-
Hmmm - threw a rod @ 13,000rpm - can't understand why really - was it still in warranty......??
-
Its only the car I've seen a pic of so far..............

Can anyone identify what is covered in oil in this photo?
Phil-540i replied to Richard7666's topic in Maintenance
"Local mechanic' - like, we're not talking that you've rocked into Ryal Bush garage or something like that with a fine piece of German engineering ae........ -

Phil-540i replied to Richard7666's topic in Maintenance
From the pics - is it not too close to the front of the car to be the rear main seal?? If its a main, it'll be leaking from bellhousing area, & then blowing towards rear of car from there....... I think some of the other advice in here is more likely, & sounds like your mechanic might be maybe taking the pi$$ a bit. How much oil is it losing?? Leaks tend to be leaks, & changing oil type probably won't make it leak less, but may cause other problems though.... Hate to point it out, but 'Midas', & 'a guy there that specialises in BMW's', sounds like a contradiction to me at some level ae.... You'd maybe be better to find a member from here down there in the deep south that KNOWS somethink about them, & throw the appropriate amount of amber fanta's their way for having a 'proper look'...... -
Do ya want my phone number for giving to her - that should put me first in line for having a crack at buying that niiiiiiiiiice E39........at a reasonable price ae...... I'd look after it better than Pablo would, honest!!! (On a serious note Julian - everytime I see one of your posts with THAT pic, I mentally go 'Damn that looks great!!'
-
Yea, that's gooood going!! No hassles?? CRD motor etc??
