Trans has water in it??
-
Glenn's post cracked me up too.........
-
Agree, totally. That's why I got out of the motorsport I was involved in years ago, as it became very much who had the biggest cheque book won, rather than based on skill......Some of the guys were spending crazy amounts of money, which at a 'normal or middle-class' level, can'nt be equalled. Was a bit of self satisfaction on beating stuff that was 'bigger & better' at times though......
-
^^^^^ agreed Jeevan!! However, Team NZ were doing something manually, that the yanks were using a computer to do, & short of gear failure or a computer hiccup by Oracle, it was stacked against us really.....they had the faster boat, thus they won. Same as any race - consistently fastest, will win.
-
True this bit - its gotta be all done in test lab or whatever under ideal optimum conditions - Toyota say my ute is 'supposed to use 11 litres diesel / 100km - 15/16 is closer to the mark, with at least 80% of its running being 'open road'......
-
Lols - hmm, maybe I need to stick my hand up for a State house then, so I can have the full experience.....not!!! Re the boats, I think the Americans 'deserve' the win really, in having came back from where they were sitting. Irrespective of the money, talent, skills, & personalities involved, attitude while under pressure also plays a big part. Love him, or hate him, hearing Jimmy Spittle say "We want this" is inspirational, & sorta shows what he is like as a leader, & what his expectations are of himself, & those he is leading. Dean Barker tends to say "We can do it" - yes, we / they can - I have no doubt on that. However, to achieve it, you also need the desire as well, & personally, I think that's the difference we are facing now. There's an old (Southland??) saying, that mutters something about "Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog" that counts........ "We can do it" - but will we........

Yay - finally got all the wheels done, & all are mounted on car now, as of 20mins ago. Even been for a run down the road in it - nice!! In the end, after trying various 'cleaners' etc, only thing that got rid of baked on brake dust was 'cut & polish' compound. By hand......... After sending hours & hours at it - I'm picking its a once only event.........
-
Wow - that's a huge difference!! Looks primo. Whats rough cost on refurb like you've done......?? Cheers ae...
-
An indoor hangi???!!! Never heard of that till now - I must lead a sheltered life!!
-
Hmm, lols - I'm picking you & your 'uncle' (or whatever........) should be making sure all the monsoon shields stay where they are - INVERCARGILL!!! If you send, I'll return, along with something else equally useful, haha!! You could always buy this car as your next project ya know..........
-
Karma!!! That's beeeeautifull!!! That's seriously kooooooooooool!! The oxygen-thief shouldn't have been taking his time to the extent that he did when playing 'kick the ball' or whatever. Cracking up at how quick he got up after looking at the wheel nuts so closely!! (after playing 'drama queen' laying on the road.....). You've made my day Jason..................!! Brilliant. ## Little foot-note for 'pedestrians' - much like I don't drive on the footpaths, if you don't walk / jaywalk on roads, those nasty cars etc won't hurt ya....... Betcha that guy owns a people-mover as his vehicle, or a Prius...........obviously shouldn't be allowed out 'unsupervised' anyway....... I'm sooooooooooo gotta download this clip later......
-
Heres a similar one, at 'retail price', so if I was buying the one you're looking at, anything much over 9.5k (ish) would start to get hard for me to justify to myself probably..... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/x5/auction-638372862.htm
-
Personally, I agree with Darren, & for myself, I find this sorta stuff more brain-damage than what its worth.......think of it as you're buying their donuts for a couple of mornings, sometimes you've got to 'pay to play', & just move on - theres far worse stuff to stress over......
-
Lols at this - my thoughts too!!! I'm sure the X5 will be fine............and I agree with ya re they're becoming 'affordable'. I think I'd sooner own the x5 than a similar year / mileage Range Rover anyway, if you're only gonna be a bitumen bunny with it...... Edit - actually, there's worse than Range Rovers, to avoid - a Jeep, especially the V8 ones!! Sometimes, you'll see a guy with a eye candy Mistress that's been around a bit - owning a V8 Jeep is much like that. It'll look ok from a distance, but will be high maintance, drink lots, cost ya a fortune while its around, & it'll be unreliable - especially if its taken away from its normal environment of mall carparks. Much like a 2nd mother-in-law, these are to best be avoided, as (much like a Mistress), they are about as handy as an ashtray on a motorbike......picture it as a Lada made in the states.......
-
I'm inclined to agree with what you're saying there Graham........but I'm not really a big sports fan at the best of times probably. On the boating here, I only know 2 things really....... - Team Oracle are just running circles around the Kiwi boat now, & in my opinion, they deserve to win it really given from how far behind they have come... - I hate the Chris Dickson analysis.
-
If you Aucklanders wanna host the new boat race, might be a great idea on leaning a bit harder before the next one starts in a few minutes....... Come on Kiwis!! You can do it!!!! Those Yanks are gonna be just a little bit tooooo smug, (& we'll never hear the end of it!!!) if they take the win on this.......... Bring it home Dean & crew.............
-
Cheers for the tips & advice guys. Yes, I've often thought lately that Car Folie needs to expand outside of Auckland!!! I've 'stuck my hand up' to do my partners vehicle too, & a son's, but gotta get it right on mine first. $450ish is local quotes too, & given theres 3 vehicles to do, I figure I can buy lots of film to practice with............. Glass out might be on the agenda down the track I figure. Must go find a different squeegee first, as current one seems to mark the tint when trying to get last of air out. (Causes instant words that rhyme with 'truck'..........)
-
If that's the future, then I think I'd rather walk............ Between my ute, & the 540, I'm picking I cancel out quite a few lettuce burning Prius's...................and I'm ok with that......
-
Its the old adage though ae - whats 'worse, something that's done a few km's as such, or something with lower km's that's likely been doing the 'hours' stuck in traffic jams.....?? Highly likely its been long distance hot running down in the mighty Mainland........... So long as its got a service history, & ends up priced accordingly, & drives ok, looks ok, I personally wouldn't be too fazed by the numbers on the odo....... I see theres a similar km one for sale on tardeme @ Waipuk area too......... Theres a few around that were owned by farmers, so kms are getting 'up there'.
-
This, I'd debate further if it was me - even speed cameras have a higher tolerance. Ticket writer was either being extremely 'queer' in my opinion, or theres bit more to the story maybe...........??
-
Yip, price for the 'sin' is the same on both speeds, as are the demerits too............
-
ok, I'll play - what bit haven't I heard............haha.
-
Lols - 15 pages took a while to read - definitely a kooool car!!!
-
Tinted another window, trying using meths instead of water this time. Stood back, even walked away for a hour. Came back, went "Grr, mumble, mutter, curse (a few times)", peeled it off again, & then went onto cleaning up another wheel for it. (last one - YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!)
-
Lols at this. I've decided recently that somewhere between now, & hitting a box that goes in the ground, I am DEFINITELY going to own one of these, even if only for a short while....... My people think it would be rude not to................
