  2. she went well especially with the lightened flywheel. didn't give it too much stick though i've got bed in the new clutch/brakes etc. next on the list is to install the dash. the heater controls, speedo and ecu are all strapped down with cable ties
  3. today i drove the e30 for the first time in months! also painted the floor pan with a waterproofing membrane. she had a slight leaking problem where the inside of the car would become a swimming pool. all should be fixed and sealed up now, gonna wait for the next big rain before i put the carpet back in just to be sure its fine. plus for a laugh.lol blue
  4. so then your car is a pre-face lift? which will mean it has 2 sensors in the gearbox bellhousing, and if you look on the flywheel there is a square point on the clutch side of it which gives it the readings. i had mine lightened/balanced/machined. what they did was lathe off the lump on the block side of the flywheel up to the startmotor teeth i.e lightening it and they also ran a very small fraction of a pass on the clutch side as mine had small ripples/hills in it just to give a new flat surface. this ended up weighing like 6.5 - 7kgs. i'd reccommend a new clutch while the gearbox is off aswell. and maybe have your driveshalf balanced aswell and new center hanger bearing. this is just what i did with mine. still yet to test it though..... dont quote me but didn't the 323i have a factory lightened flywheel?
  5. LEGEND. haha will have to get him to see what he thinks of mine he'll probably have a heart attack the e30 is more than 25yrs old so it is considered 'classic' as in age-wise

i am offically the world's biggest idiot. turns out it was something as simple as pluging in a wire. big thanks to drte30 for coming over and helping me out. within 5 minutes of him being here the problem was sorted. when removing the ecu loom through the firewall to take the engine out so i could fix the rust behind it, i tapped up all the wires so that when i pulled it through i didn't scar any of the insulation. and of course i tapped up a little 3 wire white block connecter and forgot about it as i couldn't see it. turns out this is needed to be connected to another 3 wire white block connecter nuder the dash that i didn't think was of any use. Oli - "ok so ecu is in, what about the other three ecu connection wires." Anthony - " " talk about fail! connect the 3 wire white block connecter, ecu in, key on. FUEL!!! connect fuel lines to rail. BANG. you have one noisey s.o.b in my garage bopping away. i could not believe it. what a trap for young player. again oli i really appreciate your help, this had me stumped. plan now is to get the driveshalf in, put exhaust back on (damn), install interior, spanner check then go do skids. i've had the flywheel lightened/balanced, weights about 6.5kgs. driveshalf has been balanced and i have replaced just about everything maintainance wise. really looking forward to getting back in it and get the feel of how tight she's going to handle. will keep you posted. time for another wellington meet! with all the good old boys too!

hey guys still having no luck getting the e30 started. we've tryed running nathans ecu, coil and f/p relays in my car and got nothing. then got an idea to run my ecu, coil, f/p relays in his car and what do you know, they work fine. so we've established my gear is ok and not waterlogged which brings us back to square one. possible ideas we've had so far are ignition switch or fuel pump have given up the ghost. a missing earth, but i cant think where. to repeat myself i can't hear the fuel pump humming when key is in axillary position and no fuel comes out at the hoses at the fuel rail when cranking. also noticed my ICV isn't humming either. problem? i'm not very well electrically minded thus proving it. can anyone in the wellington region recommend an auto electrician that "specialises" in bmws. or wellington members that actually know e30 electronics and dont just think they do like me note the car can't be delivered to them/place as it have its ass in the air. so at this stage i don't mind having to pay dollars $.....$$.....$$$.....$$$$$$$.....$ to get it going. fingers crossed it's something stupid. all opinions are welcome

hey lads its about time i updated this thread. the car has been strickly a garage queen for the last month while i repaired some nasty rust in the firewall and hiding under the windscreen behind the dash, plus various other holes. during this time i've also replaced the majority of the disintegrating suspension and engine components. basically all the factory rubber engine, gearbox, subframe, swaybar/links, CAB mounts had ripped off from the metal sleaves or plates. no wonder it handled like a boat. i'll document the big ticket performance items and how they handle when i get her running haha go on test me to see if i replaced it/cleaned the hell out of it. yeah so in getting it ready for the taupo megameet and the deadline is getting closer and she still isn't purring. FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU. engine finally went back in on the weekend, but i have checked 12v at the battery, coil, c101 power connections to relays, etc. the engine cranks but i cant hear the fuel pump humming, so i left the fuel lines to the fuel rail off and cranked it and got no fuel out obviously. i'll be pushing the limit if i want to take it to taupo. all help is welcome. thanks car as it stands now
  14. hahahaha driving home from work today, 10 minutes away on the main road i saw a riced up honda civic. eww. it had a flashy POS body kit, horrible green/blue professional paint job an was sitting on 14" bottle caps still with the bmw centre badge...i honestly couldn't stop laughing the rest of the way home. seen this sh*t on american forums but not in nz. super lololz

    Favourite brew

do yourself a favour and DONT. bushmans is hagared as. i drank it on a crate day and it tastes pretty rough, but it does go down a treat when you get to the 11th bottle at the moment i'm on monteith's summer ale which has a honey sorta flavour that's quite nice. i usually go for anything thats $20+~ a doz when its on special on eg: macs, stella, budweiser, tiger, grolsch etc just to get a wider taste range. but when i want to be shreddy as i'll get on lion brown or waikato draught. still looking for the perfect beer though
  16. once your've travelled 400,000km the should just fall out when you jack the car up. thats what happened to mine.lol the rubber had completly sheared from the sleave
  17. you just made my day! will be in contact. cheers
  18. congratulations on owning an e30
  19. dont think its a tech1 rear spolier, the ends overhang the boot lid onto the rear quater panel and the end corners seems to hang down. alpina type-ish? that car looks amazing though! love the frankenstein mix up of e30 body kits
  20. haha loving whats going on in this thread. i've been quite lucky in the bmw that i haven't had any close calls with inconsiderate people and they're terrible driving and parking skills. but i do always find it amusing watching someone parallel park when they clearly have no idea what they are doing.lol sometimes i'll wait around and look just to keep them honest, especially if there is a bmw around them. have only had one problem with a bunch of deadbet f**kin idiots in my subaru. the car itself is in poor condition and covered in mud but that doesn't give anyone the right to lean up against it, bang on the roof or sit on the boot. was at tech during lunch and i was just mulling around waiting to go back into the workshop. this group of 5 teenagers - boys and girls, were hanging around my car as if it was theirs. i was actually hoping they would steal it cause i'm planning to get rid of it.lol i didn't say anything to them but still looked out, basically cause i was scared to confront the group and wasn't to concerned about my subaru. i just could not believe the cheek of the group of people and the complete disrepect for someone else property. in the e30 i tend to be alot more cautious. i try to park next to expensive cars who care for their vehicle like i care for mine, always have my hand on the doors bump strip when opening the door and park close to where i am going, eg. outside a store so i can keep an eye on it through the window when i'm inside. its a shame but i think you'll find there are alot...ALOT of idiots out there (see photo). when out driving i treat everyone as if they're braindead and that they would sideswipe me without even thinking about it. in reply to anitl33t's photo case and point
