  6. Hey guys, figured this would be the best place of any to get advice/hear storys from anyone that has had to claim insurance on they're BMW. I seem to be having nothing but the up most trouble with trying to settle a claim for damage that was done to my M325i. How the accident happened nearly 2 months ago was that I was heading back from work and turned off the motorway to come up into town then onwards home which involved passing straight through a 4-way roundabout. My entry and exit to the roundabout was clear so I went for it, but as "luck" would have it, the driver to the left of me failed to anticipate my presence on the road and collided with my passengers side at the middle of the roundabout in a "V" shaped manor. Kinda like a "T-Bone" but more side-by-side impact. I'm all ok, just the car is looking very sad. Which brings me to my insurer. Very helpful with advice about the accident (first accident I've been involved in so I was noob as), and with filling out the claim form. They gave me a list of reputable panelbeaters so I picked a local crowd, real good as dudes there, so I left the car with them for a few days to scope out the damage and pass on their quote to my insurance company. That's where my trouble begins. They want to write my car off because the repairs far exceed the value of the car. I didn't see how this was possible as the car is and has been insured with them the last 3 years at a value of 6k First Party. Their own valuation of my vehicle is a maximum of 2K and the fact that it is a NZ new, genuine M325i which I thoroughly explained to them, means no difference. They did however give me the option to get my own valuation on the vehicle which they would agree to. Sorry for the novel but here are my two questions: 1) Can anyone recommend a place in Wellington where I can have a valuation done. 2) Why the F@#K am I the one who seems to be drawing the short straw. My understanding of it is that the guy that crashed into me, his Third Party insurance would cover the entire repair of my car regardless of cost? NB: But it would seem the way my insurance company is wanting it to go is that I have to pay my $900 excess in order to receive my 2k for having insurance cover and then spend $500 buying the vehicle back from them. And yet they stand by me in the fact that the cause of the accident wasn't my fault! This whole ordeal has left a very dark taint on the relationship with my insurance company who I will never be using for anything again. Any help is appreciated Thanks.

    Mixing coolants?

Have made the change over to using BMW coolant on my new engine just for compatibility with the overhaul of the cooling system. Plus a bit for piece of mind factor. Added with a new clear coolant reservoir and it makes checking the level much easier with just a quick glance. Opinions with using water for an Artesian aquifer?
  8. Hey guys, just after a 2.5L m20 bare block for future stroker plans. Possibly even as a short block with crankshaft and bearing etc. for measuring and checking comparisons. Let me know what you have. Edit: must be FL style with the means of having the crank position sensor mounted at the front
  9. Just after a Schwarz (black) bootlid to suit an e30. Spoiler holes with/without is no problem. Otherwise let me know what you have
  10. PFL helrot E30 with TechII kit, Alpinas and 333i along Petone Esplanade about an hour ago. Met the owner and he let me sit in it. Are there any others in the country?
  11. The 173 ecu is to suit a 325i on motronic 1.3 right? I'll have it please. Can pick up tonight after work.
  12. Was aware about the lack of gold paint, I probably should've noted something about inspiration after seeing it. Isn't it some kind of spray on cleaning product dealers use to shine up the engine bay. A wet look type of finish that deteriorates with the engine heat?
  13. I'm totally gonna rock a gold valve cover on my e30 after seeing your engine bay! Good luck with sale dude. Awesome looking techII.
  14. E30 Large Toolkit and boot lid trim. No tools $50.00 Unbroken E30 fusebox cover. Prefer pick up in Wellington as it doesn't make sense having it broken through postage. I should really be keeping it as spare. $40.00 Will also include this. Unbroken E28 fusebox cover. Fits e30 fusebox, only difference is the screw holes are on opposite sides. $30.00 E30 FL 318i firewall loom cover (will fit all engine sizes). Complete with unbroken C101 plug holder. Tidys up the engine bay nicely and a great place to keep spare relays. $50.00
  15. Agreed, the ones on the car are BBS RG003. Should be stamped behind the center cap, have a set that I just checked for reference. Check this thread: I posted a photo of a 15" wheel with twice the dish of the RG's http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....c=39643&hl=
  16. Look very similar to those RG 003s I got from you. These appear to have twice the amount of dish though
  17. Cheers for the advice, Troy=GC Gave all this a try for the first time by myself, quite pleased with my troubleshooting. Established PFL and FL 325i injectors are the same impedance around 16ohms, it's the ETA motors which use low impedance injectors. Pulled apart my FL 325i and swapped ECU, fuel rail etc and intake manifold. Made no difference so had to swap it all back, needed the FL to get to work the next day. Obviously I was still having a fuel problem so for some odd reason I decided I better put like 5 litres of 98octane in the fuel tank. Then thought I should jump the relay to purge the fuel system, and then just for a laugh I figured I'd try turn it over. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! fuel light on "E", sitting for 6 months. Evaporation So after all that its nice to know the compatibility of all the e30 gear I was using. Will make an update soon.
  18. This evening at Adelaide Rd Caltex
  19. Hang on a sec, I might have just learnt something. Are the 14" version called "basketweaves", and the 15" version called "euroweaves"? Or is that just what Americans have come up with? So what are these called?
  20. True? I know people who would settle with mad chromies for much, much less than a set of rep or OG weaves. Lets be honest, the type of person wanting to buy genuine 15" basketweaves will most likely be after a tidy, clean, standard look for their e30. Or the owner of an e30 series car wanting a light-weight race spec wheel. Or the owner of a MSport. Money not necessarily being too big of a factor in all cases. To be fair I don't hesitate running a set of 17" bbs reps on my MS, for sluting. But I also have a very rough set of 15" weaves with intentions to repair, chances are they'll cost more to fix than the value of them. Am I worried... not at all. Some of us are purists in certain situations when we feel like it.lol
  21. Hey guys, Having a bit of trouble with starting my rebuilt/re-loomed engine starting it for the first time. Car is a PFL that I've converted into FL engine and management. The setup is a bit of a Frankenstein, using: FL motronic 1.3 auto ECU (english car) FL 320i motronic 1.3 engine loom (jap car) PFL 325i injectors (nz car) Is this combination the problem being all from different cars? The car turns over and goes through all the cycles but doesn't fire up. - ICV hums - We have spark - We have a voltage signal at the round plug for the injector loom - Fuel pump isn't priming but will work when you jump the relay. - After several turn overs removed a spark plug with no scent of fuel We managed to start the car for a few seconds by spraying "Start Ya Bastard" down the intake, which concludes it will start. This would suggest that the injectors aren't opening. I dunno??? Because its not talking the correct signal???? Signal????? Would it be worth swapping the whole loom for a complete one out of one car. Thanka
  22. Also can this be moved to the For Sale section. Thanks
