The current engine is motronic I guess, with the distributor on the front. The head gasket has been a bit iffy and I was always going to swap the engine one day. I went away for a little while, came back and somehow had lost compression in 2 of the cylinders. Have been quoted some pretty reasonable prices to swap engines, but need to source one. Going to look at one on Sunday, but it is always good to know more since I'm not too keen on choosing this one solely based on the fact there's nothing else available at the time. You have a spare lying around Jon? Give you a fair price!

Team, The old cabrio seems to have given up the ghost and I am on the hunt for a slightly urgent replacement motor. I am interested in both b20s and b25s due to the timing. A nice and lowish km engine would be perfect. Looking for Auckland motors only however due to time. If you have something, or could point me in the direction of someone who does I would be very grateful. Cheers guys

Any other m20 engines you have around with low k's? Cheers Brent

Sent you a PM earlier. I've also text you now, can give you a call tomorrow during the day. Cheers
-
Will you consider not putting the b25 in and selling it separately? Edit: ha, I'd like to get Ray to install the engine too so you don't even have to move it!

Still struggling with getting my cabrio to start. Spark: Have changed all sensors (crank, AFM, tps etc) swapped distributor caps, rotors and spark plugs. We now have consistent and strong spark. Compression: Did a compression test, 150psi all 6 cylinders. No problems here, I hope! Fuel: Didn't explicitly check fuel via injectors, but new fuel pump still runs and multimeter shows appropriate voltages. I smell some fuel after trying to crank the engine for a bit. Is this a problem? Air: Don't feel much vacuum when putting my hand over the intake, but I don't think that is indicative or accurate. Engine is turning over but there isn't enough ignition to start idling I think, a bunch of smaller intermittent firings. Starting to think it's fuel and injectors.... How can I test this easily? Just want to get it out of the garage so i can do an engine swap or something!!

Wehhhhhhhhh....... Have been away for almost a month. Cabrio has been tucked away in the garage the whole time. Went to start it last night and the engine turns over but does not fire. Periodic thumps can be heard while cranking but not enough to cause the engine to start. Car was completely fine beforehand. Have had the battery charger on overnight and the meter reads full now. What time-caused problems can occur to create problems like this? Full tank of fuel, other fluids are all still there. (Lazily) hoping for some quick guidance/shared experience before I start checking for spark etc when I get home. Semi-terrible thing to come back to. Thanks guys Edit: stock standard m20b20 engine, PFL too.

Nope, it won't be daily driven. (Due mostly to rain!) Should have mentioned that

I just finalised my classic car cover with Swann this afternoon. I'm under 25, got the cabrio covered for agreed value $11k with a $300p.a premium and unlimited kms. Happy chappy!

Condition of engine? Rego of car?
-
Rego of car it came from? Km or miles? Where are you based? Keen as a medium bean

Yeah thanks guys, I've heard good things from them primarily with regards to pricing and a friend if mine is with them, but I've never heard any stories about any claims. I'd apply serious salt to any story I get but it'd be nice to know since that's the time you'd need them most. So I need to send them photos to justify the agreed value, but apparently anything agreed up to 15k if not daily driven has an annual premium of only a spectacular $305

I'm pretty apprehensive about anecdotal advice, but I thought I'd put the question out there anyway: Has anyone had any experience dealing with Swann Insurance? My insurance is coming up for renewal and I have been thinking about switching to Swann. I've read the policy and nothing jumps out to me as being hugely different to my current AA policy but instead of paying 800ish per year the Swann premium is only 305 with a 12k agreed value. Too good to be true? Thanks everyone

Magnificent! She's switching owners quite a bit though! Enjoying the "rumoured" dollar values and the maximum caps. https://touch.trademe.co.nz/motors/listing/view/787402177

Lucan is right unfortunately buddy, genuine 16" BBS in original 4x100 are the holy grail. I've been looking for over a year now in NZ and have only ever seen 1 set. They were fantastically/disgustingly wide and are priced above 2.8k. If you are looking for replicas I have seen them for around 1.2k but they look awful

Anyone have any idea how to remove a rounded screw?
Tidy30 replied to louistan3's topic in Maintenance
Or you can use an ezy-out, which is essentially a tapered left handed tap. A cheap Chinese kit would be around 10 dollars from Bunnings etc if I recall..... About 60% sure on that price. But its not much -
For our racecar we built I used the 1L Asahi can. It weighed 20g I think, did the job phenomenally. You can buy the 2L jugs. Super light and specifically stiff. The smaller proper lid would be easier too.

They are rare, not not necessarily awesome though

Correcto, those are definitely kamei skirts. I had to look it up for ages when I first saw a set. This is the second set I've seen in NZ then!

From what I've seen Rowan has swapped his RS's for some bronze Klutch SL1s. These were the ones I was planning in bringing back from the States last year, so I was real impressed when I saw them online. The cars been on sale for a little while now though! Tough niche with most of the awesome-level e30s.
-
You find your borbets Andy? Or are you going RS as well somehow?

Big disappointing pita

The e30 vert trademe scene is a good example of misleading prices. There was nothing listed for a while, then some tidyish ones appeared for a staggering 9k, which obviously didn't sell. Few months later some older/rougher ones appeared and based themselves from the existing prices, which is still too much. So now you see 7 or 8 verts listed pretty high almost for the last 4-5 months with none selling. Its good for insurance claims, but nothing else really
-
Yeah I left a bunch if texts and calls trying to sort a time to see/buy it but could never reach the seller. Then I heard back that someone had snuck in with a tactical deposit and was going to go look at it later on! Whoever it was, well done! Deposits never crossed my mind. Pretty sad, but easy come easy go! Guess I'll have to spend all this extra cash on the vert now!

Can you post any pics Rob? I'm curious/dubious to be honest. I'm a huge fan of the rubber/elastrogen trim on the tech1s, but keeping an open mind! Won't it crack and flex the paint and clear away with the give in the material?
