A similar, needing polish set was on trade me a little while ago that I was bidding on. They were 0.5" lip, and came with terrible tyres. The bidding war was between around 3 people and started really slowing down around 950, eventually getting to 980 after people started playing chicken with the 2min auto-extension. Then out of nowhere a completely different bidder came along and bid 1500. Was a little suspicious but that's how it went down. Other occurrences were 16" RS's 4x100 that needed polishing. They were listed around 2000 and sat for ages with no bids. If you're in no rush you could do the same and eventually wait for that buyer to come along. Only 2 cases here so it doesn't statistically hold much weight. But they come up so uncommonly its hard to determine market price. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Was behind this really really clean e34 touring thus afternoon getting off the Gilles offramp. Exterior looked brand new and a quick carjam estimates it to be supremely low k's too! Wowsers! Edit: ha! Just noticed how my frequently waxed bonnet is still behaving like a mirror! Woopwoop

My other dream is a mirror-like, ridiculously lifted murdered out 2-door rav4. But really, the touring would need to live out on the street, or live a life resting on a steep slope every night. We live in a relatively safe area, so the only concern about leaving it outside would be battery from the weather. Since that's the case, it would be out on the street. Semi-pipe dreams though! Ohhhhhhhh man definitely sell your returned weaves and keep those A's. The blind thing is pretty nifty! I'm not sure from the images but is it transparent enough to have up while driving? This was your big pre-facelift to facelift conversion car right? Hard to imagine how much work would've gone into her to get her looking like a facelift. May I ask why you did it instead of looking around for a good cond facelift? It would be arguably better simply based on vehicle age. Watch out for dissimilar metals and galvanic attack if you're planning on straight bolting some stainless to chassis steel! Have a quick read on wiki, its pretty interesting. Yeah I was a bit scared when I saw a cirrus cab for 2.5k asking price. Had weaves and a 2.5 engine to boot! But they're worth what people will pay really. I don't really see it being any sort of investment car. Returns, if any, would be pretty terrible compared to other investment methods. It's more of a "sink slightly less money" car. I've already spent quite a bit of money replacing heaps if parts in mine. As far as I see it as time goes on with these new parts my car will be relatively more reliable than another generation which would be needing replacements soon. So by buying now and fixing up over time, it's a better option than buying a much more expensive car from the get go, having it depreciate a bit and then sell before needing repairs. As time goes on it should gain some intrinsic value by being a refurb'ed car with a lot more km's still to go than a newer one needing work. This theory goes straight out the door as soon as you even consider selling however. As you get none of the invested returns and sell at a (usually) big loss. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

When I saw it again I made the biggest "ohhh I see what you're doing" face when I saw there were no detailed pictures. The seal on the lid for the roof compartment is shrunk and gone, so there's some rust in there. I didn't see inside the actual car, but it had the exact same missing seal section as I saw on the net. Hold onto your phone. This was the one on sale for a while, I was watching this closely while at its previous owner. Now I'm a little torn morally so I'll try to be as objective as possible. I saw this car at Ernst's and recognised it from a hundred metres away where I managed to actually find a park (lol). When I got close I confirmed it had the same features I saw online. Talked to Ernst for a bit and asked about it. I didn't see exactly what was on the list but Ernst said there was a fair bit of work, there were 9-10 line items I saw from 3 metres away on the future work part of the job sheet. The exterior looked a little rough too. Its still a cool car, but I would urge my fellow members (I'm sure we all would get it checked properly anyway) extra hard to get it checked and then decide. Good call Andy. Don't know how to do the embarrassed smiley on my phone but I would be doing it so much right now. Saw someone was offering bottlecaps and out came the words. I've never had to do it, and hopefully never will, but when you do get the opportunity to buy the car back how does it usually go? Let's say I write off an e30, is the buyback value a function of the payout or does it get valued again? Seems like technically it should be valued again since they had already done so to determine it has been written off.
