  1. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=987488779 Looks lovely, sounds pampered. Nice engine, too. (N46B20) Mrs M would love it, but if she's starting to have problems with the 320d, I can't see this being any easier. Other than the doors will open wider, perhaps.
  2. I get an easy 700km per tank from my 500SE, cruising at 1900rpm and 100km/h, too. Nice car.
  3. Does it go hard? Is it on baggies? If not, could you fit them? Does it do mean skidz?
  4. Which bits do you need? They're not expensive.
  5. Blocked cat can be a performance killer. What's the mileage on your Touring? I've also seen performance issues as a result of a tired fuel pump. No errors cos it's still working, and gentle driving is fine, but put your foot down and there's no more to be had.
  6. Alongside the tools for hire thread, there are many cheap or DIY things that come in handy. List them here? Free is preferred, but let's say no more than $40? I saw this today: http://www.gearbest.com/microscopes-endoscope/pp_229387.html
  7. That sounds good. And no... Not seen the car yet! It's quite a trip on the off-chance that it may or may not be OK, so I'm paying for a WoF (which I expect it to fail).
  8. Baurs are great. Parts are actually much easier and cheaper to find than for verts.
  9. Ya git! I'll take the handbrake gaiter, please.
  10. I prefer not, but I prefer not in any car.
  11. Gave the 320d a rest today. It deserves it. Pulled the wings off one of the 318i coupes, removed the wiper motor and mech. That project is going a lot deeper than I'd planned. Oh well... Soon be summer so hopefully we'll have some good weather so I can it outside. Narrowly avoided buying a 525iX touring. This buying cars thing is getting out of hand!

    Quick Questions

I have a similar problem on my 190E - turns out it is the power steering pump pulley that is squealing.

    BMW Styling 2

The 15x7 et20 as fitted to the E34, E24 and E32. Anyone know what they weigh?
  14. Forsooth, 'tis verily the truth.
  15. How many times have you done this? You write a post, check it, post it, and then notice that huge, glaring error which either makes you feel like a illiterate idiot, or completely transforms the meaning of your post into somethig completely different to your intention. Obviously, you can edit it, which is great, but invariably leaves the 'Edited by...' message. I'm obviously being pedantic, but that annoys the hell out of me! Would it be possible to have a few minutes to edit a post, before this happens? Post, edit, make corrections, submit and so on for (say) 3 minutes before the 'Edited... ' message is added?
  16. Personally, I think a 2-litre M10 is the perfect engine for an E21. The 6 is great, no doubt, but not so easy to work on. A shame in some ways cos I know where there is a manual 'box for a E21 M20... Still, this is intended to be Mrs M's car, and she'll need an auto. Thanks Grant. This is for the E21 320/6, carb model. I know about the engine mounted pump, but there is also the sender in the tank which is the bit that appears to have been replaced with an electric pump. That said, I am most definitely not an expert on these cars and that could well be a red herring. Perhaps it's just a leaky diaphragm on the engine pump that is the issue? That could manifest as low fuel pressure.
  17. Blue/black 1994 850CSi (reg ***55) on SH1 near Meremere, making good progress towards Auckland. Driver didn't look very relaxed? (I hope Meremere didn't have anything to do with it!)
  18. The in-tank pump has been replaced with an external pump, and the original one is available. Need to find out the flow rate of the in-tank pump so any replacement (an E30 pump can be used, with slight modification) internal or external is the right size.
  19. I'll check to see if the M10 pump is compatible. I'd probably have preferred an M10 engine, but I'll settle for a solid car! Could you find out what pressure rating you used? Either psi or l/min? Ta.
  20. One occasionally comes up on TradeMe or on here, and they may be a little more common than a 2002 but it's a close thing. I found this one by word of mouth, but haven't yet seen it.
  21. The PO tells me he has replaced the fuel pump (not said why). It's not clear if he's talking about the engine-attached unit (p/n 13311272406) or the sender unit in the tank (p/n 16121114254) - I'm verifying details. While these are a bit scarce (I expect) the good news is they appear to be rebuildable: RealOEM shows parts for this.
  22. I've been told that an E21 I've been looking at has the wrong fuel pump fitted, and that it doesn't supply enough pressure. This is a 320/6 - carb model... Surely that doesn't require much pressure? So... Does anyone have a spare pump, bearing in ind these appear to be specific to the E21 and E12? Or would I do better (as I suspect) to get a low(ish) pressure electric pump? I expect that'll potentially lead to requirements for a pressure regulator...

    Quick rant thread.

I had something similar on a motorbike forum - my initial post was dismissed and ditched as spam. Seems to happen more often if you use a gmail or yahoo (or similar) address.
