Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
gjm replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
Sadly, the market now reflects this: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3325861318 An asking of nearly $10k for a WoF expired, rego on hold, uncerted for changes, rust status unknown "but it's a coupe" car. -
Sadly, not even uncommon for this seller. A testing authority who issued a WoF on one of his sales was taken to court (he wasn't, of course). A Land Rover, the king pins had to be replaced, the front brakes were falling apart with the brake pedal nearly to the floor and hoses were perished, seat belts were damaged, no declaration or certification for a roll cage/seat belt mount, and a list of other things not up to WoF standard. The testing company paid several thousand dollars - about half the cost to repair the major work required - to the buyer. The steering was stiff, the "reconditioned" transfer box was stuck in 4wd (required reshimming), and hand brake shoes covered in oil. He currently has a red MGB for sale. It used to be white... When asked about it, he blocked the person asking.

Been having a chuckle about the seller over on Facebook. He's just been called out for selling his 20th (maybe more) Land Rover, which apparently has seen some dubious changes between known history and current sale. Not the first time. And yet again he knows nothing about the vehicle (generally or specifically). A couple of truly knowledgeable folk have asked questions, and are now qualified as members of a not-so-elite Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/4233402160060087/ If you're really bored, play bingo while checking some of his listings: - stunning - breathtaking - nz new - original motor - make new friends everywhere you go - painted by a professional car painter - I'm not an expert - there's not a trademe category for a series 3, therefore it's a defender - about me; top selling self help author

Dunno about rough, but I think it was an auto 4-door 323i. -

That's some decent money. 😮There was a 320i recently listed in Auckland at what I would consider a far more reasonable price - don't recall exactly how much, but under $5k. Half of quite a lot is still quite a lot. -
Same. I even know the seller saw my messages, just didn't respond.

Has the way a 12v car battery is described changed? I recall DIN standards which denoted size of package and the terminal orientation, but when recently looking for a specific fitment all I could find were details of size, not terminal positions.

At face value, I'd much prefer that to the cabbie posted above, but you may have read my comments on that listing. -
Oh well. Not the support bearing. That's smooth, slick and happy. The rear UJ on the propshaft is another story...
-
No issues splitting the propshaft?
-
E46 prop centre support bearing replacement. Easy-as? Or...?
-
I think these were at Continental Cars?

'Here there be dragons?' Out of interest, just looked at a global projection. North of New Zealand is Kamchatka. About 11,400km...

Just saw a Falcon with no windows drive past. Hot, sunny day... is this bogan aircon?

I don't condone hurt to anyone, but someone who profits from the misery of others deserves whatever karma deems appropriate. This is the sh!tt!est of business practices. Sadly, if the business has earned a reputation for this sort of thing (assuming it is run by an individual), it deserves to go bust.

Not at all uncommon (and not just with E30s). "Just needs a couple of little things..." So why not do them?
