Calling all E38 collectors - 735i M-Sport in Welly
eliongater replied to TermiPeteNZ's topic in TradeMe discussions
I've been trying to view it (and then buy it), but the guy is pretty busy and hard to get hold of. -

I have you one you can borrow for free. If you can figure out how to get it from and then back to me in Wellington, is Andy doing a run soon?

Having time for Bimmersport again

Would powder coating work? Or do calipers get hot enough that they have the same problem as engine blocks where dirt sticks to the coating?
-
Is this any use to you? http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Engines_Troubleshoot It helped me diagnose a faulty ignition switch. I'm currently in the middle of converting my 525e to motronic 1.3 (I got it running, just need to time to tidy up) and will be putting an m30b35 harness and ECU on my m30 for my m535i.

Hi guys. I'm making a hybrid m30. A m30b34 block with a b35 head on it. I'm not sure what head gasket to buy though. The 1.72mm or 2.07mm one. I've tried searching, but I've only been able to find turbo applications (this is stock NA). Thanks

If I didn't have 2.5 already

I'll respond to PMs tomorow

It's very nice. I've seen it before and forgot to upload the photos

For future engine swaps use the lifting eyes at each end of the engine, it makes it a lot easier
-
I'm loving the flashing light

I'm not a mod, but the rules do state that you need a picture (there are several reasons for this). Your diff will also fit e24/e28 (with rear cover swap), e36/5 and e36/7.

The struts should only be 4 bolts so you could load it onto a truck and then take the struts outs (provided you have removed the calipers etc first). You could probably tow it to the end of your driveway with no struts, it would just destroy the tyres and maybe scratch your drive.

Borrowed my Dad's 125mm Bosch one and got some Bosch discs from Mitre 10 mega for $5 each, they seemed to work pretty well, except I need to buy some more (I guess that happens when you are cutting a large amount of the car off)

I'm currently stripping (and cutting) a 1987 525e for parts for my 85 525e and 86 m535i. I don't really have enough space at home for all of the parts so I need to get rid of some. Once I've finished stripping it I'll post the excess parts, but in the mean time if there are parts you want just ask (as I also have spares from my other e28s). I will get pictures up either this evening or tomorrow (and prices, don't worry mods ) Some parts I know I will have excess of are: doors (various conditions) Shocks and hubs Maybe some glass

Just flip the spacesavers around so that they have - offset . It worked when I was parting an e34, plus it gave it some mean dish
-
I suspect not, as he was putting an m30 manual into his e28, so he would still need the clutch hardline, pedalbox, driveshaft etc. It also wouldn't fit an SLK

This might help. It does seem like you know what you're doing though. http://m535i.org/officers/ra/articles.html#brakes

Who changed the title on me... Hey mods, you spelt Grindr wrong
-
Hi guys, In preperation for dealing with some rust on my e28s (the m535i has a lot) I think I'm going to need buy a grinder, cutting disks and grinding disk (rather than use all of dads...). I'll be cutting out panel cuts from a donnor car to weld onto the m535i and be grinding rust off both cars. The m535i will require a lot of work, so I'll probably need a lot of discs. Any reccomendations for a good, but still budgetish (as in to do a job and not cost the earth, but not cheap and nasty) oriented grinder and discs? Thanks. In the mean time I'll look into the option of just buying some discs and borrowing dad's grinder or a friends. In my view a grinder comes into the 'everyday' tools category, hence me looking at buying one.

I'd do some more research as I don't think it should have washers, as I haven't seen it before (haven't really looked at autos that much though) and the flywheels I've done have just been straight bolts no washers

540i is better and 750i, 850csi and m5 are better again. You might need 17" rims though http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2137

Nice hot air intake What e34 where your calipers from (I'm assuming the 535i)? Cause depending on what ones I have floating around in the back of m535i (don't ask, it's a mess of parts inside) I'll most likely have some spare e34 535i brakes.
