So... Third loom lucky. I've decided to stop pursuing the m50 loom idea (as cool as it is) and focus on KISS. I've installed an e30 1.1./1.3 loom, m50nv injectors and m30b35 ECU and got it running for a couple of seconds this evening. Unsurprisingly it ran like a complete POS, but at least it ran and the timing wheel worked. Now I've just got to get a map sorted and reflash the ECU to an m20b27 one. One complaint is the e30 m20 loom seems to be completely different to the e28 m20 loom as the ECU, coil, body plug and battery are all in different places, the e36 loom fitted better. I'm not sure how I'm elegantly going to fix this yet. Edit: I've got the software and hardware to remap the ECU, just not the know how of what to actually change the maps etc too (different injectors and compression ratio to any existing bins I can find). How much would it cost to get a pro to write me a tune?

Any clearance issues with the front strut?

Can anybody recommend a good set of most likely 225/50R16 tyres to go on my 16x8 Style 4s for my e28. I'm not looking for the best performance, just reasonable performance and price. They need to have fairly straight side walls else they will rub on the front struts. I was thinking Bridgestone RE003s as that's what everyone seems to recommend. Hoping to spend about $200 per tyre, but will go higher if it's worth it in the long run (e.g. better tyres now, don't have to buy new ones for a bit longer). Thanks

Can anyone shed some light on this basket weave? It's off a 735i e32 with a black pinstripe. I know it's TRX. I believe it's a forged wheel but I'm not sure.

If you get really stuck I've got a 3.64 medium (again e28, but just swap the cover) that I could be persuaded to part with (it's currently in my car) I've got a 2.93 and a 3.64. PM me if you are still keen.

They don't happen to be from Brent do they I believe they need to be 74.1mm to 72.56mm.

Interested in an e28 diff, or would you need a cover as well?

If I had some BBS' I would be keen

If you wanted a v8 one why not start with a v8? I reckon stick with an i6 or go with a v10.

The wheels you are looking for are from an e34 or e38 (probably e32 as well) and should be around et 20 (for the 16x8). This site will help you: http://www.scrappycrow.com/e28wheelstires/e28wheelstires.html http://www.scrappycrow.com/e28wheelstires/e28wheelstirestbl.html

Have you already got an engine? Becuase I'm pretty sure the best option is to get a b34 (no custom mounts needed and higher compression) and then use a b35 loom and ECU.
-
b35 or b34? b35 is unlikely to have the right bolt holes for the factory e28 m30 mounts. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=60306 http://www.bmw-stuff.com/proddetail.asp?prod=m30r

Slow progress. I've got the loom installed, started on a harness adaptor and reassembled everything for testing once I figure out the wiring side of things.I need to extend a couple of wires to reach (oil sensor) and get a rubber tube adaptor to go between the intake boot and the temporary pod filter (stock airbox doesn't fit just yet). Also a bunch of minor stuff. I've been too busy helping friends with their e36s lol. Including m50 swapping a 318is. I hope to have it wof'd and reged by the 21st. If this current plan doesn't work I've got 3 backup plans (motronic 1.1/1.3, correct flywheel or m52b28 swap, which I hope will be happening anyway).
