Is that a new version of the chicken or the egg? ?

For anyone with this problem, I recommend kids. They never fail to wake you!

The entire Nav unit is Japan specific. ?I can't even change the time on it. It syncs to Japan time. (I could hack it, but not worth the hassle for just changing the time)
-
Not for most buttons. I can post some pics for you tomorrow.

My head unit on the Leaf is in Japanese. What I did was I googled the procedure I wanted, which was Bluetooth pairing in my case. Then found a video on YouTube showing how to pair a device in English. I just followed the video and the result was exactly the same. Try googling how to change language and watch and English language video and follow the same process?

Erm, it'd be terrible if any. Businesses did this... they'd all go out of business! The logic behind this concern baffles me. In his day and age I expect easy access to information on pricing. Shops that don't provide it simply don't even factor into my decision making process. I might be losing out on a slightly cheaper price by not calling around, but I save time on the other hand, so hard to say who lost out. In the case of tyres, I honestly would have bought from the US and imported, or gone to hyperdrive if it weren't for this thread. Now I'll give the two Bridgestone shops near me a call. I don't have direct recommendations like this for everything I buy, so I can safely say local businesses are losing out by not taking the time to have a website with prices stated.

The price for an elm adapter won't be a lot cheaper than BMW scanner. The benefit is the elm will work on most cars with obd2 ports. The benefit of the BMW scanner is it'll give you a lot more BMW specific info. Every module and such, in detail, which the generic ones won't do.

Ok, I can understand that... Why not have prices online?
-
Thanks for the feedback. I am swapping wheels later this month and will be getting new tyres then. Sounds like the right tyres to get. I did not realize they had different pricing. That makes a lot more sense now. This country is weird to adjust to sometimes, even a few years in!

I understand what you're saying and I agree entirely. I am just asking to have an idea of how often these would have to be changed. Once every 20k kilometers? every 10k? It gives an idea of cost over distance, that's all.
-
That's mint e39 M5 price territory. No way.
-
Why doesn't Bridgestone publish prices online this country? What kind of longevity do people get out of these tyres?
-
How much does a set of 5 of these run, roughly? 235/45/17

You're weird. -
Yes. I ended up with three. Keeping one as I have a leak anyway These might not be alloy, but they are guaranteed for life, or till fcp goes out of business anyway. ?

Anyone able to press some control arm bushings for me?

Woot. Where on the shore? I can reach takapuna and back safely without having to recharge. ? -
Your ecu records which cylinder misfired. You said it happens at start up. Find someone with BMW scanner and scan your computer. Note the cylinder that misfired. Swap its cool with another cylinder that hasn't misfired. If the misfire follows the coil, replace the coil. If the misfire stays in place, follows that link above for more advice than I can write on my dinky phone keyboard. ?

Check out this thread, lots of useful info here. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=897616 simplest check is swapping offending ignition cool around with a cylinder that isn't misfiring and watching to see if the misfire moves with the coil or not. Edit: I misread. I don't know how much a head gasket service would be. Check everything else first. ?

That auction description reads like a joke. Seriously, someone trying to be an internet troll. Another plausible explanation is that it's someone's way of saying to their wife "Its for sale honey! I can't help it if nobody buys it..."

Due to a slight mistake, I have two brand new M54 valve covers from FCP Euro that are surplus to requirements. If anyone is keen, hey have a lifetime warranty from FCP Euro, but that applies to me only. I'd be happy to extend it to any buyer in this forum as well. I commit to working as the in-between between buyer and FCP Euro. These are them https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-valve-cover-e46-e39-genuine-bmw-11121432928 Say $400 each, which is a well below cost.

It's a good watch, in that Doug-sort-of-way.

What software? If you're in Auckland I have it all here.

As long as he posts pics of his new wagon when he's sitting at a computer again. ? Indeed, youth seems to be something in the distance at this point. ?

The real question is whether you got your discount on the blue BMW, or did he end up with a higher rent bill?!
