I did this for my e39. I ordered the parts from a place in the US that parted cars. It was ~$150 landed, but they wouldn't ship here direct, so I had to order to a family member, then to here. EDIT: This is the place I ordered from: https://hermesautoparts.com/ EDIT2: Ebay has them too.

You're welcome to this stereo if you want it:

Came here to post the same thing. Mad. https://www.google.com/amp/s/7news.com.au/business/holden-brand-and-local-design-operations-to-be-wound-down-in-australia-and-nz-c-701457.amp

Smartass. I change the oil on my rav4 yearly, or 15k KMs. It's due now, actually, I'm just slacking getting under there.

Thank you for your non-denominational answer. I appreciate it. I'll stay happy with my HPR5 supply and habits (of buying more when at half price.)
-
I promise I am not trying to start a troll war. Is Castrol Edge better than HPR5? I would be happy with "They're about the same" not least since I have heaps of HPR5 in the garage right now... Just curious about this.

Is this the one BMW Australian has been buying back E46s over? https://www.caradvice.com.au/810298/bmw-takata-buybacks/

This is an abomination. Cruel and unusual treatment of one of the nicest cars ever made.

What does your valve cover gasket look like? That looks like the o-ring for spark plug holes on the valve cover gasket.

It's silly, but I love that short film. My brother used to work for BMW in the US, and got given some DVDs of the film. We always got a kick out of it.

Ah my bad. Yeah, amazon.com.au does not ship here. I haven't tried co.uk in awhile, they might? Bookdepository still ships here just fine (That's amazon-owned too, if that isn't obvious)
-
Amazon International doesn't ship to Australia at all, but amazon.com.au has most things from Amazon International anyway, and they have Prime. So in many ways, they got a better deal in the end. The selection is more limited, but what Amazon does sell ships a lot cheaper to AU now. This thread makes me think I should travel home to the US more often and bring back some heavy things in my luggage selectively.

Whilst I agree with this answer, and I have axel stands... I also have a ramp which I made from materials from bunnings, looks a lot like the drawings above... I had to put my 530i on the ramps before I could jack them up to put them on the stand! For oil changes I just used the ramp. For real work, I used the ramp then the stands. A reasonable compromise, which I was aiming towards before my car met it's untimely wall-death... was a small ramp to get on the jack stands. Yes, the simple version is two ramps!

I actually misread your post. If I can get OEM, I get OEM, but I also have no problem with buying the cheapest possible part sometimes and seeing how I go. For $60 from Rockauto+shipping, I'd get that Ultra-Power and see how I go, tbh. The price difference is too huge not to try (for me.)

These? https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/bmw,2001,540i,4.4l+v8,1370988,engine,variable+valve+timing+(vvt)+solenoid+/+actuator,12910

They won't fit. The offset and centre bore are both wrong for the e39. Have a read here about the specs: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/bmw/5-series/2000/

I know it's a hassle, but you can link to images still. I am hopeful I (or one of the others who raised their hand) will make it so we don't have this problem anymore in the future.

I'm one of the people who emailed. I am more than happy to run/maintain the site. I am not so active as to do moderation daily, but running websites/forums is something I do and have done on a daily basis for a long time now.

Depends how hard up you are, but you can get quite decent replicas out of Eastern Europe via ebay. It was not really distinguishable from the OEM ones, but... cost a bit less.

You might be searching for "Life and Adventures of Santa Clause" and getting no results... Search for "Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" and you'll get results. I have a pdf/ebook here if you want that, but I think you want a dead tree (I agree they make better books...) Trademe, as Mikan says, or Whitcoulls has it too. EDIT: Bah, Whitcoulls is 10-12 days shipping. Must come from the UK.

You can have either RF, or IR, but not both. The frequency, if it's RF, can be derived from the VIN. "Information regarding remote control:Basic = remote control 433 MHZSA 876 = remote control 315 MHZSA 875 = infrared remote control"

I've actually had a bit of a revelation shopping with Rockauto. I miss lifetime warranties from FCP Euro, but the prices here are very good. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2010,escape,3.0l+v6,1444720,brake+&+wheel+hub,rotor,1896 Don't try to price two rotors in the same order. Buy one per order, and the shipping isn't insane. ($30 per rotor individually, but $100 for two in the same order)

Hi Paul, John, thank you kindly. John, I appreciate the offer. Seems like it'd be less of a hassle for Paul, so I'll hassle him instead of you! Paul, I'll PM you shortly. Thank you!

That's the idea. Wife is keen on a Toyota, and I might just have to go with that to save myself considerable grief. Her experience of my BMW ownership was not a positive one!
