    Airbag recalls

I don't think there is an answer to this question yet. Airbags started being mandated only from 1989. I expect the internal combustion engine will be deprecated before airbag age becomes a serious issue.

    Quick Questions

I still haven't shipped my second shipment from the US. I shop for bulbs here: https://www.superbrightleds.com/ If they have what you want and it's cheap, you can tag along my shipment for minimal additional shipping cost.
  3. PA Soft/BMW Scanner should be able to reset that. I haven't done it myself, but would be happy to give it a go for you.
  4. Don't sell it below cost. Keep it and I'll take it to the US and post it to FCP Euro for you for free. You'll get a credit on your account for it.
  5. Passed a WOF. I was very pleasantly surprised!
  6. New engine cover cap, new wiper blades and new wingnut holding a no-longer-squeaking jack in place in the boot.
  7. Just to close the loop on this thread, this car is for sale on these forums too, here:
  8. Aren't you glad you have those shinny new keys that don't work?

    That looks really tidy. GLWS.
  10. You can get the Mothers kit from SCA for $55 with four bars. If you're not in a rush, I screwed up my shipment from the US and will be doing another. You can get it for $15usd on amazon and toss it into that shipment for an extra $5 shipping costs. It'll be here next week sometime. Edit: you're not in Auckland, it might cost a. It more to get it to you once in NZ. Probably another $5. Still half price. Edit2: I see you expect to use a whole bar, or even more... Note that usually one doesn't use a whole bar, but rather a piece of a bar. Spend some quality time over at r/AutoDetailing and their extremely informative wiki!
  11. Hi folks, I have a couple of surplus items here if anyone needs these: BMW Ambient Temperature Sensor and Harness - $15? These came from a pickapart and work. Airbag recalls

Brand new airbags cost upwards of $1k each...

    Airbag recalls

I don't disagree with the general sentiment about how chasing bottom dollar leads to everyone losing, but I don't know that was necessarily the case here. My airbags were checked, all good.
  15. Could you link the one(s) you have?

    Airbag recalls

The airbag company is gone. There is nothing to get back now... This was a huge case of all eggs in one basket and the basket just melted... I don't think it's fair to say the car brands have had brand reputation damaged, tbh. I only ever see it described as the Takata recall now. Pretty much every car manufacturer got hit, so hard to say any one brand hurt more than another...
  17. 11 years parked in the mud must have done wonders for this car.

    Quick Questions

I'll post how it goes. It doesn't defeat too much. There are a lot of places where mileage info is recorded. Many modules, plus keys. To do a real mileage trick you'd have to go through a lot of effort and in nz your mileage is recorded at every wof, plus garage visits record it too. You'd get caught out easily I think.

    Quick Questions

Hah, I can believe that. Thank you for the well wishes. I'll report in on how I go.

    Quick Questions

From the research, two conditions get you the tamper light. One: a VIN mismatch. Two: a large-ish mileage discrepancy.

    Quick Questions

The mileage in the lcm can be coded before the VIN is matched. Prior to matching the VIN, no sync will occur and the tamper light will go on.
  22. Pretty! Good luck with the sale. Very curious what it's being replaced with. ?
