    Quick Questions

What?! My car has barely been driven! It's been in a garage since 2001, regular maintenance, only driven on weekends... it has barely 20k kilometers!

    Quick Questions

Hi Glenn, Thanks for the heads up. I think I have done my research, in that I know how to code my VIN into the new LCM. As I understand it, I should be able to get a used one, plug it in and code my VIn to it and it'll sync mileage from the IKE. Wish me luck.

    Quick Questions

Thanks for that. I had found that link, but the bit I got stuck on was actually removing the silly thing once I found it. It's in a really cramped spot! I also couldn't figure out how to disconnect two of the connectors (our of three) but I managed to remove it enough to take a picture of the unit to look for its replacement.

    Quick Questions

Does anyone have a good video/picture guide on removing the LCM from a RHD car? I see lots of American videos, but they don't have the tight squeeze we do having it in the driver's footwell. Thanks!

    Airbag recalls

That's entirely possible. I was told mine was in a grey area where it could have been affected, but needed eyes to verify.

    Airbag recalls

For me, I got a letter saying mine had to be physically checked. Called Jerry Clayton, made an appointment on Friday for the Monday. In and out in an hour. If they need to change the bag, it might take longer, but the initial process is the same.

    Airbag recalls

I got a letter saying my car needed the airbags physically checked. Seems it was in a batch that could be affected, but needed checking. Brought it into Jerry Clayton, hung out for an hour and read a book. They cleaned the car nicely, said not affected as sent me on my way. Would do again. ?
  8. 2007 Toyota Avensis with 74000 kilometres Boring, faithful, reliable, what else do you need? Are you tired of your car breaking down? Has your significant other had enough of cars that need lots of maintenance? If you've answered yes, or if the answer is yes anyway... This is the car for you. This car has been a faithful Silver steed to get from point A to point B for our family for two and a half years now. It has never broken down, and even if it had, it still has Toyota's Signature Class warranty until December 2017! We are the first owners in New Zealand and have faithfully serviced this marvel of machinery at the local Toyota dealership once each of the last two years. It is due a service in December this year, which is really all the maintenance this car ever needs. Nothing breaks, it just works. Now, I've extolled the virtues of this car, I've elaborated on how great, how reliable and faithful it has been to our family, so why, dear reader, are we selling it? I have developed a liking for working on cars. To this end, I have purchased a 2001 530i... So, that leaves Ol' Faithful here without a driver, as we really don't need that many cars for our small family. So, grab yourself a bargain, and buy this car. You won't be disappointed. As mentioned, the Signature Class mechanical warranty is good until December this year. The car additionally comes with all the documentation we got from Toyota, three keys, and free AA Roadside Assistance until the end of the Signature Class period. This is a family car: it has a couple of minor scratches and a small tear on one backseat fabric seam. Otherwise, it is in great condition, inside and out, and has been freshly cleaned and detailed. Test drives and pre-purchase inspections welcome. Call today to get away from your automotive woes! Price: $4500 OBO - 021 0244 3958 Also on TradeMe: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1398925478
  9. Is this code for "my wife won't stop hassling me, please help!"
  10. I have a pile of stuff in a store and forward in the US coming this way shorty. how heavy are them bushings? You're welcome to piggyback on my order. Pm of keen.
  11. Do you get any errors at all? Is there a full partition. Somewhere?
  12. Isn't this the one that had its head gasket replaced due to overheating issues?
  13. This seems resolved now. Was anything actively done, or do we just have auto-updates enabled and it was a forum bug? I'd still love to see this site in https and am happy to volunteer to help set it up.
  14. Thank you for that. Seeing this and based on the discussions on this thread, I think the best thing for most people is probably PA Soft BMW Scanner. It's cheap and simple and does what most people want. Expanding from there, and once you have learned a bit from breaking all kinds of things... then move on to the other programs as needed (unlikely for most people, tbh...) and see how you go. It's basically "Starting Small" from my perspective.
  15. Looks expensive-ish new, at around $170USD: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-transmitter-receiver-61358379502 Or cheap-ish on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X61358379502 .TRS0&_nkw=61358379502 &_sacat=0
  16. Sweet. That is exactly the kind of cable/adapter I am referring to. What software do you use?

    e46 wheels

It's completely self-serving as I have some to sell.

    e46 wheels

Or you can buy some BBS rc300 wheels that look very similar. ?
  19. The kind of thing you want is clear PA Soft BMW scanner territory. You can find it cheaper than that price on eBay and it'll work just fine. Mine was $20nzd on trademe.
  20. Let's collate the info here into one post and make it a sticky. We can link to the original threads on other forums too. We can include VM settings and OS ideas too. For the USB cables for example, you can run them all under windows 7/8/10 in 64 bit just fine, you just need to install the right drivers and those don't come with the programs that use the cables. I'm on my phone now, can start a document later tonight or tomorrow.
  21. There is an in between option where you need an adapter from obd to pacman whilst keeping the USB cable. That might be you.
  22. I'm happy to help with software setup for the car with a proper connector. I suggest you sell that other one. ?
  23. On my 2001 I haven't found something yet I couldn't break by playing around with the computer. ? All via obd2.
