  1. agreed! I got told off by a cop in spain for doing 140 in the fast lane when the two outside lanes were clear. Not for the speed, because I should have moved right. 130 was the speed limit. Safe as houses at 140.
  2. leave the fast lane for people prepared to drive at or above the speed limit and maybe this wouldn't be a topic. If there is someone behind me prepared to drive faster, I move over. Of course that theory works down here, probably not in Auckland with real heavy traffic. Probably why I hate driving up there. No offence auck. ppl, it's my issue not yours.
  3. my neighbour had the IS-F. Said it was always changing gears. When you have 8 I guess it can be a problem. Plus those fake exhaust pipes.....ewww. There is no alternative to an M5.

  5. everyone's a critic I quite like evo's after a ride in my mates 9 very quick.
  6. I think it's fair to say alot of the evolution of this M is under the skin... I mean tech in that engine.... ...dual twin scroll turbochargers and catalyting converters are in the 90-degree V between the cylinder banks, reducing the length of the intake and exhaust plumbing and positioning the “cats†close to the exhaust ports so they reach their optimum operating temperature as soon as possible after the engine has started. The cross-bank exhaust manifold ducts the hot gases evenly through four ducts, each of which is fed by one cylinder on each bank for the smoothest possible gas flow into the impellers, to reduce turbo lag and even out the pressure pulses - even at 1.5 bar of boost. Has turbo placement like this been done before? I haven't heard of it. Amazing tech. Aggressive styling. Power & economy when you want it.
  7. 412kw & 9.9lt/100 amazing.
  8. http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/motoring...-M5-super-sedan The M5 has been unleashed. Official details of BMW's new M5 super sedan have been released, after images and vital details were leaked online a week ahead of their scheduled debut. The new M5 will be powered by the same 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the brand's X5 and X6 M models, following a trend from manufacturers to downsize their engines in order to save fuel. Despite the smaller engine (the existing M5 was fitted with a 5.0-litre V10 powerplant) the new super sedan will produce a few extra kilowatts over BMW's M-badged SUV models – 412kW compared to 408kW – about 10 per cent more than its predecessor (373kW). That also puts it ahead of its main rival, Mercedes-Benz's E63 AMG, which produces 386kW from its 5.5-litre twin turbo V8 (or 410kW with the optional performance pack). Torque output from the new 4.4-litre twin-turbo engine doesn't change from the X5 and X6 M models at 680Nm, representing a jump of 30 per cent over the old V10 engine. That figure, however, is slightly lower than the standard E63 AMG's, which produces 700Nm as standard or 800Nm with the go-fast package. The M5's engine sends its power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, with a manual option a slight chance of making an appearance. All that power apparently makes for quite a show, with online reports suggesting the M5 will complete the 0-100km/h dash in just 4.4 seconds, with the 0-200km/h sprint taking just 13 seconds. The top speed is limited at 250km/h, but if you plan to do some track days you can choose the M-Drivers Package, which boosts the top speed ability to 305km/h. The other benefit of the new, more efficient engine is a 30 per cent drop in fuel consumption. The new model uses a claimed 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres, where the old V10 version used 13.0L/100km. The styling of the new M5 doesn't stray far from that of the concept version unveiled at the Shanghai motor show, with only a few hardly-noticeable differences such as a sharper crease on the wing mirrors, slightly more aggressive side skirts and blacked out finials in the kidney grille. The M5 sports a set of 20-inch wheels with very low profile rubber. BMW Australia spokesman Piers Scott admitted the leaked details and images caught the brand off guard.
  9. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/5...ng-all-the-time I knew this was going to happen next ..... zero tolerance.... all the time.... everyone driving around looking at their speedo's cops all out catching speeders instead of criminals punters loosing their jobs because they lost their licence
  10. does your e39 have fly by wire throttle control? it would be more an electrical issue in that case, there is no physical throttle cable. Scan may show up what the issue is. try checking the cruise button operations, make sure they are clean & have a even feel. A faulting or sticky +/- button would explain this behaviour.
  11. lurching forward when you turn on the CC is normal, my car does this when the throttle you have applied is lower than the throttle the car wants to use to get to the set speed because you are using the increase speed button (+) to active the system. If you are faster than the speed you want to cruise at this doesn't happen. Or if you use the CC button (set button) to active rather than the + this should help. I think the system is working normally here. All the + button needs is a tap, don't hold it down. You can set the CC and accelerate using the + button from anywhere over about 50k's I think. I once tried from standstill but it wouldn't engage. Are you meaning it accelerates hard, then slows, then accelerates hard again all on it's own? Cause that IS freakin weird. Sticky/failing + button? sorry can't help with it cutting out all together, this has never happened to me but I would assume it would do this if there was a fault with the system. Better that than doing a Prius.
  12. Awhile back any steel line was legal. Then they changed the law to only allow DOT (TUV) standard FMVSS106 lines. Or lines that had been certified locally. recently I have heard the law on these has changed again and they don't need the standard printed? I had to special order mine from the UK to ensure the FMVSS106 standard was on them. Never had any WOF / certification issues. Can anyone clarify?

    weekend project

looks really good. but will it pass a WOF without a "friendly" inspector?
  14. I run a set of Phillips bluevision in my fog lights. I have to say I couldn't really tell the difference to the factory blubs past the amount of weight taken from my wallet. They are good, but another colour than standard yellow/white? not really. Only minimally more white at best. If anyone actually finds a good WHITE blub that doesn't throw error's I will be interested too. edit: I do run the phillips power extreme for my high beams however, I can't rate these high enough!
  15. Admin...please. Someone ban zenetti, he's clearly delusional.
  16. this is where GPS would be GOLD. Imagine knocking on the door with the police, knowing you car's sitting in their backyard because your GPS unit was still sending updated location details. Or better yet without the police...but a few select "mates"
  17. I feel for ya bud ......& no insurance. God,..... car theives shot be hung by their nuts in the city square. I hope you find it.
  18. I maybe keen on the central front armrest with the phone cut out. Is it leather?
  19. I have my internet and phone with TC. I have found recently their internet reliability & speeds probably the best in the country ATM. No outage in more than 12 months. I used to have problems, and getting through to their call centre when you have a problem is a pain in the preverbal. Changing your plan can be a problem too, you can loose connection until you remind them to do it properly. But recently they are pretty good. I'm in welly so I'm on their fibre loop so get really good speeds for PS3 gaming, even good enough to hold my own against US gamers. I don't have their T - box, I used to have their old TV tuner and it was rubbish. can't be bothered changing again now I have my universal remote setup to work mysky. Sumup - if it saves you $$ then phone & internet are a no - brainer. T-box is supposed to compete with mysky but I don't know anyone with one to really compare.
