  1. I was about to say the same thing. Very unimpressed with Als service, crappy welds etc. Avoid. The guys at Woolf are the way to go.

    BVM8W Plate

Ahh I finally understand that plate now. Took me a while.
  3. I would test drive and check it out first. Ignore the ks. Looks immaculate for a 1994.
  4. A friend of mine has expressed interest in acquiring a 540i, though to help him find one, are there any key specific trouble spots to look for on the E39s, particularly the 540i with Vanos? Probably looking at the 1997-2000 models. Cheers in advance.
  5. Quite true though, gotta have good tires if you want to stop!
  6. That says it all. Just wow.
  7. Looks the part for sure. However, after looking at the interior pictures, are the door card cloth sections still sagging a touch? I just get the impression that if someone was going to spend 10k on an E36 those problems should be fixed..... Maybe that is putting some buyers off? I know I was quite particular about that when looking for an E36.
  8. Haha, I hope those parts aren't still out of the car!
  9. Considering I've never heard of them, I would assume they are Chinese generic stuff made to a cost. Just replace them with quality ones that work properly in situations where you need the grip. Also chances are they probably ride rough and aren't properly balanced because of how they are made, makes for less than pleasant motorway drives.
  10. So what are these 'horror stories' exactly?
  11. Automatic or Manual ones?
  12. I would go 1JZGTE all day. My second favorite motor after the 1UZFE. Ideally I would suggest the single turbo VVTi 1JZ version, blows the dated twin turbo motor out of the water for stock performance. The idea of putting one in an E36 next year, following completion of the 1UZ conversion has tickled my mind. A relibale 400hp out of a 1JZ would be no problem, plus they have an excellent exhaust note when done right, certainly more interesting than the SR20's sound.
  13. That dark green and tan interior is a great combination Good job!
  14. Shall be highly amusing. MX5s?! It's unbelievable how far this show has come compared to the days of the black Stig and what not when the whole show was rather low key.... Now a Christmas special trip to the Middle East... What next!
  15. Good job. Saggy doors are something many take for granted, but by god are they annoying, I experienced problems on a previous car of mine, managed to come up with a fix in the end though. (Rebuilt hinge)

    POLISHED

Care to share what the new machine is?
  17. Haha I had one for a few weeks last year. It cost me nearly 5k, manual, LSD, 1.6, with hard top. A fun little thing, the reason for buying it was to fit a 1UZFE V8 into one. A friend of mine has a V8 MX5 so that was were the inspiration came from, ( ) but after thinking about it, I felt the car wasn't good enough quality to handle the engine... long story short I sold it, and now doing the same conversion in an E36 as I just felt its a much better match and offers a cooler less girly image. You would be best to hunt around to find a decent 4k example. Watch out for rust, and make sure you get one with strut bars, especially the top rear, some also come with ones on the sub frames under the car, they really need the stiffening, mine was a 1990 so didn't have these factory options yet, and well the car liked to vibrate at certain speeds. A hard top is a really worth while option, can be rare however. I sold mine off the one I had to some creepy old man for $1000! I'd advise against an auto version, they are terrible IMO, if your girlfriend can drive a manual, then go for one. Good luck!
