Cost has come down, $2500 quoted to fix now, as opposed to $7k. Service is $400 ish now too, as opposed to $800-1000 every 4 years. I'm still not sold on the box, I had one in an R32, was ok, but I hated hill starts in it and it one failed completely, although functioned fine after being turned off and on. I got rid of it shortly after. Drive mums 118i today, it's a great round town car, great stereo with the factory sub and rides nicely. If I want to go fast or carry stuff, I'll take the Falcon.

Seems they do a tune also, will check.

Blue, I went to a corporate event hosted by a guy with an M5 wagon, I thought "cool car", then thought it didn't look quite right. 525i. Did spot a mint condition Lada Niva, probably rarer than an M5 wagon.

I'd have sold it by now Jules. Still would have only had 120-130kms on it. 4.6 with full Alpina kit and build plaque.

About 4-5 years ago, I could have landed a genuine B10 with 78kms on the clock for $11,800. Still wish I did it.

Here's one. http://www.nizpro.com.au/

Here you go. Glad you're alright. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/47720-540i-with-alpina-wheels/#entry516237

Might appeal to someone. Looks like it's missing some kit at the back to me, but I don't really know with E39s. http://www.turners.co.nz/Cars/Search/BMW/540i/11797693/

Yes, 600nm was manufacturers spec, part of the reason I'm putting off anything on the Falcon, it's at 586nm standard on overboost and I don't particularly want to pay for a new one.
-
I read 600nm. A billet input shaft is the only mod I've see, that and fluid changes, rather than "lifetime".

Yeah, don't get me wrong Matt, I'm not having a go at you, I just don't have much faith in the measuring system! Suresh's car chucked out some impressive power, be good to see yours doing the same. One thing you both might want to consider is that the modded Falcons using the same box put in a stronger input shaft once they go over 300kw. Not sure on how much power you're planning on.
-
Sorry, unless you're claiming well in excess of 450hp, I call bollocks. Or post a measured 12.1 sec 1/4 and prove me wrong. I'll be seriously impressed if you can.

I think it's auto and from my experience, streets slower than a 328i. In fact, as a reference, I once beat one easily in our old Pulsar GTi. That was in about 2004, the guy looked like he'd still be disappointed now.
-
You saw the power figure, what's not to love! Actually, I just thought he was looking for the impossible, so why not the improbable? Anyway, in all honesty, I'm a car fan, not a one make wonder.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/ford/xr6/auction-683302880.htm Manual, exhaust/headers, new heavy duty clutch, springs, mags AND an LSD! A bit heavier to get out of a ditch, but not by as much as you might think. 8.7% heavier, 15% more power, 31% more torque.

Never mind, think I've found one on eBay aus, $45. Cheers.

How will they go voltage wise with nz electricity supply?

Hopefully, someone on here can help with this. Assuming they can understand my explanation. On the basis that I got a new, bigger tv, I've given my mother and stepfather our 2 year old Samsung led. Now the fun starts. The tv has 3 x HDMI in, including a DVI in, plus 1 component in and a digital optical in. They have a free view box which has 1 RCA (r/w/y) out and 2 Scart outs, plus an RS232 plug. They have a DVD player which has component video out and S video out. My plan was connect the tv to the existing aerial cable for the free view (using the free view built into the tv) and use the component in for the DVD. There is an RF in cable, a LNB cable and a black coax cable out in the free view. I have tried all the cables in the antenna input for the tv, it shows "Weak or no signal" and won't pick up any channels. Plugging in through the Freeview box using the component in works fine, but that means I can't connect the DVD. What am I missing to make this work? We have both normal aerials and a dish on the roof. Is there anything that can take a component or S video out and connect through a HDMI? The manual suggests a DVI to HDMI cable, but we don't have a dvi on the DVD player. To complicate matters, the coax cable in to the Freeview box goes from there to a splitter. Out of the splitter, one cable goes to another tv in another room, the other goes to another small device with its own power source, a signal amplifier maybe? Then, there is another heavy white cable with screw in connection that goes to the Freeview also. I'm stumped, help,

So it would be shortest in a 328i then?

Once you experience more power its hard to go back to slower cars. This is very true. What was the topic again?
-
They'll give you a basic feel for a cars performance, that's about it.

Where are you in Akld?

I'd like to see an E39 do that time, even the manual ones in magazines haven't been that quick, 5.9 is the best I've seen and generally 6.2-6.4 for an auto. An E34 at 6.1 seems optimistic too.
