I'd love to hear that wide open.

Cool Random thought. Do you lose your a/c?
-
^^^^^ Plus 1. I had an RS Legacy with factory STi pipes for years and it did sound great. Even when I heard it being driven off, stolen. And the RB has a great burble.
-
Jesus, at first I thought that was kw, then looked to the side! Good power, good result.
-
There was a random VT Commodore at the dyno day with a turbo mounted behind the LR wheel.

Is it gone? If not, I'm keen, if gone, no worries.
-
Ran out of talent is my guess.
-
Fair point, but I'd take a punt on a NZ new manual, just expect to recharge the a/c every 4 years.
-
Jules, please take this the right way. Will you stop faffing about with pretty bits and bolt the supercharger on?
-
Hence my comment on getting them cheaper. As I pointed out, one with low kms (around 80 from memory) sold for same or less. It's a fairly simple car, large motor, manual (in the earlier ones), not much else. I'd have a manual Mk2 with over 100kms for the wife, just for the exhaust note if they were priced right. People are happy to but an M5/M3 or whatever with 150kms plus, so why not this?
-
Start at $16.5 asking on TM for a Mk1 (Mk4 Golf) and $20k for a Mk 2 (Mk5 Golf) and I'm positive you can get those down. A low mileage Mk1 NZ new car sold last year for mid-high teens. An S55 Kompressor will start at $25ish if you shop around, non kompressor, high teens. I drove one of these when it was 2 years old, still one of the nicest sounding cars I've driven, although I'd be curious to see how time had changed my opinion. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/alfa-romeo/auction-688535342.htm Also looked at an Alfa Sprint 1.7 at the same time, was 18 months old and already had rust in the hatch.

Had an R32, that was a great sounding car, quiet and then exhaust opened up under throttle, was loud. S55 Kompressor, whole range of interesting noises, deep rumble at idle, deep whine from supercharger at low revs, boost being slowly blown out again at low speeds and nascar like sound under full throttle. Relatively cheap to buy now, as long as it doesn't break.

I had some of those original alloys, they are worth $70ish as scrap ali.
-
Fell of the road? Nothing to do with how you were driving it? Out of curiosity, what '80s Alfa was quicker than a 325i. GTV6?

Correct. Because there was no E38 730i (actually yes there was!) The E38 735i had 175kw and 345nm, 0-100 in 8.2.As I said, you quoted performance/power figures for an E32 730i/6. Jared's original comment was that a v8 3.0 was worse than a 6cyl 3.0, you've mentioned a e38 730i (which doesn't exist) and quoted figures from an E32 730i/6. Sorry for the lack of bold type. Actually Allan, I lie, apologies. There was no 730i on that list and I forgot that there was one. I can't find a performance figure for an E38 730i, but doubt it would have been slower than an E32. Err, it was.

Just do a Vanos delete and run it through a Link ........to a plug or something for a lamp.
-
You quoted figures for a 730i 6, not a V8. Which was 9.3 0-100 and 296nm only 500rpm higher. http://translate.google.co.nz/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.7-forum.com/modelle/e32/technische_daten.php&prev=/search?q%3De32%2B730i%2Bv8%2Btechnische%2Bdaten%26client%3Dsafari%26hl%3Den

I haven't played with it at all. I thought they picked up k anyway, and it doesn't give that many falsies really. But then I don't use it round town. X band is bad for door openers etc. I'll check it against that link.

I disagree about the 3.0 V8. We had a 730i for over 200kms, was reasonable on fuel, good performance and on a Singapore import, only one $900 bill for the rack, rest was routine maintenance. I'm sure it's lighter than the 6 and it def sounded better. 160kw over 138 and 290nm over 260 as well.

My V1 still picked them up on Dec 30th.

True Glenn. Having a 2 ton eagle fall on your head wouldn't be fun. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11189343 Hmmm. Won't link. Now it does.

73km deep Glenn, 10km north of Castlepoint.

Do your freight stickers peel off easily Hans? Hate to see the paint damaged. Or is it holding part of it together?
