  1. Pre facelift 318i, 1010 manual, 1040 auto. FL, 1065 manual, 1085 auto. Pfl 325i, 1125/1145 Fl 325i, 1180/1200 Pfl 318i, 77kw, Fl 318i, 85kw. 325i remains the same. All from owners manuals.
  2. Thanks for the replies, looks like no worse than 15l/100km is realistic? As per my original post, a friend was getting 20l/100km, must have a heavy foot.
  3. The guy who owned it had two. One was damaged to the tune of $20k and is still sitting waiting to be collected. Wouldn't be surprised if that is the one you're thinking of and he transferred the plate to this one.

I got a new one 3 years ago for $270, surely they haven't gone up that much? And yes, it is still working.
  5. My point was, will it be worse? My current car is the same as your 740 in town and slightly better on a trip. 20l/100km sounds excessive, this would put me off. The same or better wouldn't. That said, $150 fills do get annoying.
  6. What sort of consumption do you get around town, not 50/50, just straight town? As a reference, my current daily car probably does six 4km motorway runs a week, the rest is in Auckland CBD and surrounds. Result is 16-17l/100km. How does that compare with a 540i? E34/E39. A friend had one (E39) that showed 20l/100km on the trip comp, was he particularly heavy footed? Please don't quote me manufacturers figures, or owners manuals, just real life. I'm thinking of changing cars, don't want anything worse. Cheers.
  7. Buy an M325i, last time I measured on a trip was 8.3l/100. On topic, not too bad for a relatively heavy auto.
  8. That 5 interior shot looked nice at first, then I realised it reminds me a whole lot of an up spec Maxima.
  9. Used to park in Grey Lynn everyday, spoke to him once, he was about as friendly as Winston Peters to journalists. Looked like a nice original car though.
  10. E30-323ti would be your man I think. Same motor in an E30.
  11. FYI, I priced a set of these back in '95ish. $14k for the set, but as the salesman explained, that did include the tyres.
  12. Brent, I have the article at home, from memory it suggested it was dead easy. I'll try and find it tonight if nobody beats me to it.
  13. The new F6 FPV is rated at 310kw and should be at least as aerodynamic as a 16 year old Vauxhall with a body kit Even if it was a cool Vauxhall. It (the FPV) should be quicker.
  14. Ooops. Yeah, as Apex said, wax finishes the job. Meguiars Gold class (?) seems to have a nice finish.
  15. Any half decent polish/restorer should do the job. My convertible bonnet (zinnoberrot red) was completely faded to a nice shade of pink. Couldn't change it by hand. I used Shell (yes, really) Polish Restorer the first time around, with a power buffer and it transformed the car. I have subsequently used Meguiars Fine Cut over the whole car and it brings out a brilliant red shine. Good luck, looks like a nice car.
  16. Read the mechanical report. This car has been through at least 3 times, with the price dropping each time. Might be a good buy for Glenn as a fix and flick, but not most I suspect.
  17. You are wrong. These property deals work all the time. If you'd considered what I said, in that both parties inflate the value of their respective trades, that is precisely why they work. I have seen a deal involving 8 cars, a boat plus cash for 3 houses. All the cars were at retail plus and all the houses were above market. Both parties factor this in and end out coming out with the result they want. And there are plenty of people out there to whom $50k is nothing for the right car.
  18. As with any property trade deal, I'm sure both parties have inflated the price of their side. I would have thought it was worth $40-50k if it is a genuine CSi.
  19. Hilarious. My M325i was first regoed that month, with leather and aircon it must have been $90k + and the convertible was 4 months old, with Mtech bodykit and 15" weaves for $95k +? How the pricey have fallen.
  20. Those guys are so full of it, I took a friends late model Lexus through recently and got told one tyre was "borderline" at 4mm. Ask for a check as per the LTSA site, might not have to change the muffler.
  21. Interesting. Did they do the Quick Noise Check as per the LTSA site? Or was it purely his opinion?
  22. Behind the Ricoh/Hawkins buildings on Stanley ST, prob on the Carlaw Park Business Park site?
  23. True, it did ok considering the cost. But 20-25k!! Where are they for that price? This one is second hand and is still double that. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-151905254.htm I have driven the old version of this car and it’s not quite a match for the rest of the field, would be nice to see Nissan do a hard core Skyline. I think they are going to be bringing out a 3.7ltr version in the next year with a bit more grunt though. It was a guess on my part. Even $47k is a world away from any of the others.
  24. Interesting. The IS-F had the fastest lap and a $20-25k jap import with some suspension mods is probably the best buy of all.
