There are two different non PS racks. The early version has no damper and latter one does. They do feel slightly different from one another, but there is no motorsport version as such.

My manual says, 323 = Getrag 260 = 1.25L of oil

And for 320's. There are 13 different Getrag 240's fitted to E30's

Cost to the manufacturer, not on going cost to the owner. A Timing chain might cost 5 to 20 times that of an equivalent belt to make. As for maintainance costs, a belt can still work out just as cost effective as a chain in the long term. A chain might last 2 or 3 times as long as a belt, but cost you ten times as much to replace when the time does eventually come to replace it.

An additional fan won't help in that situation, at open road speeds the radiator is already being blasted by more cold air than it needs and much more than a fan can generate. Fans, be they engine driven or electric only have an effect when the car is stationary or moving at very slow speeds.

Chipping cannot work as the chip makers claim. The idea that a slight change in fuel mixture or ignition timing can yield the sort of gains that most of tham claim is absurd. Dreaming? Yes, give it up.

It's not a vacuum gauge, it is sent a signal directly from the ECU. Its one of the wires on the three pin plug of the ECU. You may want to check that plug first.Replacing the gauge would be your next move. I've have plenty of spares if you want to give it a try.

Considering the AFM age, the spring it is probably too loose and if anything already running rich. Most people only take then apart to tighten them as they age.

Aren't E36 318is all M44 powered?

An ultrasonic cleaner is the only way I know of to get the inside of the headlights really clean. Jewellers and the guys that clean house blinds use them.

You don't touch the pistons. Just fit M52 crank with M20 2L rods and put it all back together.

Gus, have you seen the NA 2.8m20 build in the E30 restoration bible. M20b25 block and head + M20b20 conrods + M52 2.8 crank. They got 230hp without going to aftermarket injection. ( remap factory ECU, M30 AFM and throttle body) The only problem I could see would be finding a cheap 2.8 crank in NZ. In the UK the auther reckons you can pick up M52 2.8's for nothing because of the pre 98 Nikasil bore wear problems so they look at it as a "low budget option" As for a S2000 swap, that might be tricky as I think Honda engines spin in reverse??

M is for motorsport, but that doesn't mean the car is anything special just because the factory stuck an M badge on the back. Plenty of cars got M badges fitted just because the owners ordered something as trivial as a leather covered gearknob from the motorsport parts catalouge. Another problem are cars like the E46 M318 and NZ new E30 325 motorsports, cars with no more power than standard that have been weighed down with extras that actually slow them down, what does that have to do with motorsport?

It is common for the rear window mechanisms in four doors to seize, as the rear windows are not often used. Grant is spot on, usually it is just the switch contacts but the switch wear is sometimes caused by the mechanisms packing up and making the motors draw excessive current. The high currents burn the switch contacts or the motors themselves. If the switch is playing up it's probably time to regrease the electric window gearbox and cable/spring.

I didn't mean E30's in particular just cars in general. You can bring back a brand new car if you own it for 90 days. Or you can import an E30 M3, wait for it to turn 20, send it on a round trip to Fiji and register it that way. Dodgy
