Boot clear coat off Wouldn't be a project with out a flat battery jump start
-
Mate so much sanding done in the dark to beat the weather and the clock
-
I used to do heaps of it ages ago. It's definitely a game of patience and taking your time and making sure the right tools for the job, right adhesion products on the right surfaces also pays off in the long run. Been a pain in the ass ended up cracking the bumper because some one before i got the car did a crap repair on the bumper and ended up cracking it. Running it pretty close to the wire getting it painted this weekend. Lol have an open home on the property tomorrow so have to get this work in progress on the road. Fun fun

Still a bit of surface work to do on that corner panel. Looks like there are a few dents and sh*t bog work. Man watch out for crap paint jobs when you buy vehicles
-
Let there be rust! I see a prang fix with a botch up job of sealing the light. Lucky I did this because another year or so and that surface would have been toast Surface fine underneath once I wire brushed my way through
-
I forgot how much work was in preparation and sanding! Onto the rear end and top of the boot.
-
Grab a better photo of it tomorrow Just a light coat before the humidity kicks in tonight
-
Looks like the bonnet has has a fair share of resprays ... 6 different layers under the clear coat!!
-
dont know who did the paint job before i purchased the vehicle - but as you can see, the paint is jumping off the metal. looks alot uglier than in these photos i assure you
-
Lol ... bumper is a SON OF A B# especially having to rebuild some edges from a prang, did some old soldering iron plastic welding, that was quite an experience. Now have to sand back the entire rear end of the vehicle + bonnet. Might post some photos of some more progress - it is quite a mission, so worth keeping for memory. I think this is the last time in my life i ever do a bumper. Have to do some panel fades / blending too as i dont want to do the entire rear panels as some of the paint is mint, just the last half of it looks like where some repairs were a while ago and is peeling big time.
-
Might just keep it primer grey!
-
Never mind, i think i found the answer online some where ... but i'm adding this comment for the record. Looks like 1-36 1k acrylic is a specific primer - used for a specific series of paint. Berobase paints - what can i say.
-
Hey, Hoping theres a paint junkie on here that might be able to help me out. i've just been reading over the MDS of the basecoat paint, and theres a mention on there some where about not using "1-36 1k Acrylic Primer" I'm assuming that 1-36 1k Acrylic Primer is a specific primer? It doesn't mean a blanket ALL 1k Acrylic Primers? Any knowledge into this?

Check out that nasty piece of work
-
Prangs on the bumper take ages to rebuild a nice smooth curve, what a nightmare ! On closer inspection the person who did the paint job on the car before I got it must have done a sh*t job, paint is peeling crowe footing it everywhere. It begun as just bumper and C panel now progressing towards + bonet and boot / rear end of the car. Might as well do the whole car!
-
dammit - just realised you could have saved me a bit of $ on my keys! was hunting around for some one that had an EWS key coder!
-
Boot - Is the rear stock spoiler / lip glued onto the back or like bolted? How do you pop one of them off
-
Sanding back that bumper is a ####! It's coming off the car when i get to the work shop
-
Thanks! Was good to see before i started tearing into it, broken plastic tabs in the past so you never know!

e46 2002 rear bumper, trim Can you remove it without taking the bumper off? Can any one take a guess what style of bumper this is too? I can't find info on it anywhere
