  9. Hi Guys, looking to buy a e46 sunvisor black cloth is the lining. ( or a very very dark gray ) im not sure on the options was offered one for $50 + postage, but it was the wrong colour. Jonathan
  10. So ... i take it back into the VTNZ, and i watch them recheck it, and they dont even check any of the lights on the rear ... For the sake of getting a wof i dont bother asking about what their talking about, but i guess ill never know what the hell they were on about. How ever i like Glens idea of converting them into brake lights lets see what the next WOF brings up.
  11. the boot light arrangement in the trunk lid Left handside, 1 Reverse holder, Righ handside 1 Reverse holder, 1 fog light holder apparently it varies
  12. try http://rmeuropean.com/ ... i flick between them and pelican parts
  13. We removed the engine, for the hassle / fiddling round in the engine bay it was actually quicker to get the engine out, in open space and do it there. Word of caution if you are doing it your self, when hitting the shafts to get it out, be careful as not to dent a hole in the middle, as oil goes through there. So choose your "hitting rod" carefully, im not sure how others do it but im assuming a rubber cover will save some damage.
  14. this sounds about nearly as cool as the time i had to weld a 12m nut onto a broken thread to wind it out. upside down, under the intake manifold.
  15. Yeah we had that disussion, and they said "because its on the car, then it has to work" so now they have failed it, and seen it, i would have to go else where for a warrant of fitness along that track. Really i need some LTSA law stating on the factory setting of the car, or BMW stating that it is a factory setting for that particular model. Not to mention i purchased some stock bulbs for the front head lights, and they failed it for "headlights have incorrect beam patterns" thats another dilemma im battling through. If that were the case then they should fail every single car that purchases bulbs from partmaster / repco. They said, oh .. you better just go to BMW and buy genuine, or get the dealer to fix them, its a bulb ... what the ## are they going to fix, the filament ? haha what a nightmare Jonathan
  16. The WOF paper stated "rear left stop" so whether they were trying to mistake the brake light for a fog or not is my guess. I dont even recall seeing them turn on the rear fog lights on. Will let you know how i go, its my understanding that only certain face lift models in europe have them. Infact i took the boot lining off, and there is a obviously a fog light wire for the right hand side ( 3 pin clip, 2 power wires, 1ground, 2 bulb sockets in the holder ) but not the left ( 1 power, 1 earth, 1 socket, and the other socket is stock sealed over. ) worst case scenario i will tell them that i will put reflectors over top of them, and that is what they can be. I might post some photos up to explain what is going on, as im certain others might face the same problem later Jonathan
  17. Hi Guys, e46 330ci NZ New wondering if any of you have had this issue in the past, my BMW is a stock standard NZ new, and the Rear left, "stop" light under the reverse light bulb was diagnosed "not working" by the warrant of fitness people. So i did some digging and to my surprise there is no socket under the reverse light bulb on the left hand side. Did some more digging and no-surprise, this is pretty stock standard on a few versions of the model. So what should i advise them ? that they should ring up BMW and get told that this is the factory setting on this ? Jonathan
  18. keys on, lights on, all four beams work from fresh start when the key is turned on, only the l/h indicator is illunminated, is this normal ? ( becasue the RH one isnt. )
  19. So ... i have a red warning light on my dash for the front left side, 1: all lights are working, including indicators 2: When the key is off, and the lights are on, the front left Indicator bulb is on permanent, could this indicate an issue ? or are they not related
  20. Any handy tips on draining the water that has accumulated in my battery holder in the boot ? or am i going to have to dril a nice wee hole in there ... on another note, the boot seals are fine, so not sure where its coming from.
  21. Looking for e36 Motorsport bumper, preferrably in black if possible. Anyone got a spare?
  22. wow ... 11L to the 100, with a 323i, thats really odd, we did 400km on 30L on the way back from Palmerston north, on the new 323 manual e36. Maybe ill blame the auto box. Maybe its time for a 330ci gearbox change .... worth it in gas savings
  23. economy update, just added to the fleet of vehicles with a nice wee e36 323 (2.5 m50) manual even !!!! boy its great on gas on the open road ! 7ish litres to the 100 ! and round town just under 10 litres to the 100 and the 330ci on the way back managed just over 8, which i find refreshing. the 330ci, in town averages about 12 - 13 with me, i do alot of short trips, which is very depressing on the km's you get to the tank
  24. e46 318, any thing over 10 km/l would be sweet round town. It strange, i seem to see so much variance in the 318i some guzzle the gas, and some dont. any decent e46 318 manuals spotted around ?
