  1. Also - not sure if the e92 key fobs have a remote entry re-sync procedure like the e46's do (i.e. with all doors closed ignition position 1 -> off -> pull key out -> while holding unlock button press lock button 3 times - and the door locks will cycle on / off to confirm the key is now paired with the remote unlocking.) My suspicion is on what ever receives the signal or the wiring round it (as Allan's link suggests at the bottom) -> and fires it to the GM module. since you mentioned something about radio channel issues. Could be battery? Their not the re-chargeable ones? Could be failed board? I just went through a similar process with my FOB, Don't know enough about e92 to really say though.
  2. Wonder if its of any relation to the FZV antenna amplifier I'd imagine the e92 might operate in a similar fashion https://www.bmwgm5.com/bmwgm5/FZV_Antenna_Amp.htm considering in my vehicle the remote key receiver and fzv is on the same unit as radio receiver might be worth having a look into.
  3. The paint job on a bit of it is definitely botch - clear is ok ish - but the primer / base coat is lifting off areas ! and some serious cracks forming. Aparently the car was in a crash before i bought it - and there was a bit of a re-spray, but probably not the best of jobs!
  4. I've done them before in the past on the m20, and yeah pain in the arse. in saying that Brother is doing it - qualified mechanic. I was just wondering in peoples experience what issues they have had with the m54 rod bearings over time, and whether it's worth me doing them while the sump is off since it's a pain in the arse job
  5. Thinking of doing my sump gasket on my m54, may be leaking. And if i have to do that, was tempted to do my conrod bearings while i'm at it. Cars done 210k on the clock, no weird noises or anything but if im going to go through the hassle getting that sump off - might it be worth while replacing conrod bearings. Car is generally maintained oil wise, and isn't abused too much. How long do these things last? (I know it's hard to say) but any one had bearings last 300k + 400k +? Thoughts? Jonathan
  6. not whole car - although it got pretty tempting to - since i have to respray entire bonnet and bumper and a few pillars. I got some serie 500 berobase ended up ringing around after i purchased the paint, and another company was selling an autothane mix of it for like $70-$90 per litre ... bugger ! but i don't think it was a base coat type quality but they said it wouldn't matter provided i got the under coat sorted.
  7. GESUS - $210 per/litre for the black sapphire paint code
  8. Aja probably 2 pack, anything to recommend?
  9. yeah , all i needed to know bro ! thanks so much. I'm not a pro painter either, done plenty of resprays pretty well, but was just checking to see if there was anything out side of the norm. Good luck with your V8 project!

    e46 v8 wagon

WOW! making me want a v8 in my e46 coupe or atleast a 335 twin turbo!
  11. did you sand back the paint coats and clear ? what with? Thanks heaps !
  12. Better yet if any one has painting experience could you chuck up the procedure that you did. i.e. did you sand back the metallic paint with 800+ grit lacquer ? Thanks heaps
  13. Anyone with a metallic paint colour (i.e. black sapphire metallic) done a respray on their car? Reason for question is wondering if you needed to apply clear coat / lacquer to it i.e. - primer - few coats of paint / 24 hour dry - sand 1200 grit, then few coats of lacquer I've done some resprays in the past and i recently overheard a rumour that some bmw paints don't have the clear coat, or is this maybe some of the newer paints. or is this rumour a nothing-burger. Any insight would be sweet.
  14. I guess you can maybe hope for some good speed camera footage heading into wellington then!
  15. This is quite a cool site https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?autoMake=BMW&autoModel=330Ci+Coupe&autoYear=2002&autoModClar=Sport+Package&package=false see some rims on BMW models
  16. wheres the 4th wheel brent?
  17. Found some VRM wheels - look kinda similar, but still cool! http://www.velocitymotoring.com/wheels/v703/
  18. Gabe to the rescue lol
  19. Looking round for these sorts of wheels - any one know what they are called? or better yet have some for sale
  20. Probably worth mentioning - it's not GM or Antenna related - from some more testing it seems to be pointed more towards battery. but i'm curious has any one had a rechargable battery actually die? from what i've read it seems like they rarely die - but its an original key so like 15 year old battery surely must be reaching an end point ?
  21. hey allan - are you ordering the vl2020 battery ? (rechargeable sort?) I have opened up the (non serviceable) key - just to do some voltage testing on the battery - done a few recharges on it by having it in the ignition over night - and could well be the battery, as after a charge it will sync now - but not for long. NZ00z3 - I have a c-pillar antenna system - but ALSO a clown nose on my mirror. so not sure whats going on there - i read that aparently the convertables run the antenna system in the mirror, not the coupe / sedan. Allan if you have more than 1 battery i wouldnt mind buying it off you - i spotted they were selling sets for $10 or so, with the connections already spot welded to the battery
  22. Also does anyone have any insight into this (i'm only talking about the keyless entry / remote pairing - not any thing to do with EWS) Let's say I have 2 keys id#1 and id#2 When I pair/code them with the car for unlocking do i have to start with key id#1 in order to pair #2 with the car? Like when i start the reprogramming procedure - if i start it with id #2 will it fail?
  23. Hey all, for some reason my remote buttons wont work on my car, I've got a new key programmed - just incase it was the old remote i've tried the recode procedure on both keys (ignition 1 / off - hold unlock button + middle button 3 times etc), tried a few days of battery disconnects and trying again with different methods. I'm trying to narrow down the possible problem. - FZV antenna - has anyone experienced it? also with the FZV antenna amp, i see some models of e46 have the receiver in the rear view mirror (clown nose) and some in the Passenger C Pillar. - Has anyone experienced it being the GM module thing - some one suggested it might be that, but i would assume that I would be experiencing central locking issues on either door if that was the case 2002 e46 330ci - Pretty sure it's NZ new Looking for some help to help diagnose the issue and the best place to start to get to the bottom of this! Thanks heaps Jonathan
