I always swap to poly bushings in the thrust arms if im keeping the car, but given that you have the warranty its probably not worth it in this case.
  2. +1. Some of tech like the reversing camera setup would be useful but yeah many gimmicks which is common place these days.

Ok. Unsure if the cable will work with your setup but you are welcome to bring your laptop with you to try it. It's a USB>16 Pin but i have an adapter if you are using the 38 Pin

Got all the factory software working on a laptop you could borrow but I may be a bit far away for you.

While i still don't think MYUS.com is that great they do offer FedEx as delivery service which is the cheapest option by a little but mainly for whatever reason FedEx don't seem to charge GST of the shipping costs of the item when they process it themselves.

You do get those random failure situations. Had a couple of OEM parts DOA over the years.

Assuming you talking about the chain tensioner? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/timing-chain-tensioner/11317531813/ If that wasn't replaced when the guides etc were done then they weren't meticulous at all tbh given its a very well known wear item I agree they are good engines if overhauled and everything is working as intended but many that are sub par. The M60 is still the only BMW V8 that has proven reliability in my books.
  9. The lower the asking price the more dickheads low balling

Ive always thought my parents E46 318i manual with M43 engine did well considering - ~6L highway and 8-9L around Hamilton. Under powered but a cheap fairly reliable engine compared to what offered today. It had ample power for city driving, good torque to 3000rpm but has no passing power on open road. M44 E46 would of been nice. Late 80's - 90's era cars in general are still the best overall in my books.
  11. Silver and auto hah, was expecting it to be manual or something really special. 8k tops assuming no issues.
  12. Plenty of selection around for 17" E39 ET20 factory wheels and other brands like BBS etc. Not the volumes of 3 series stuff but shouldn't be hard to find if you keep and eye out or ask around. 17's have very good tyre prices esp in common 235 45 size so id probably stay with them esp if its just a regular car. 15mm offset with correct tyre sizes will run without issue on 17x8 and 18x8 lowered setups. Lots different offset will work provided they aint too crazy and use the right size tyre. Ive run E38 18" staggered M-pars on my old E34 which were 18x8 ET13 and 18x9.5 ET25 rear.
  13. The M43 is probably the last BMW motor which only has very few leak points which are also easy to fix. I'd hate to imagine the leaks on these modern BMW engines once they get old (if they aren't already in the scrap yard that is)
  14. Grandma called, she wants her seats back
  15. Yeah straight forward job. The worst part was the usual crappy fan shroud design which i took to with dremel and made an opening so i could get that radiator bleeder line on easier in the future. If M54 didn't have so many flaws and was easy to work id probably like it
  16. Finally did the my vanos seals on my 265,000km M54. Best $200 ive ever spent on a car i think. Nice torque gain esp below 3k and even smoother throughout the rev range. +1 Recommendation

They also overvalued one of my orders by $65 usd for some reason. Yeah FCP are quite decent. Pelican isnt quite as good. Youshop has saved me upto $70 but not worth the wait sometimes and more likely to get hit from GST. Also get some good shipping deals from Ebay sellers, QE auto parts for example have cheap shipping on many BMW and Merc items but they do take 2-3 weeks to come via slow USPS.

Thought id give MyUS.com a try instead of youshop for some cars parts, turns out they suck. Even with the VISA promotion discount the prices to ship a pair of shock from FCP and a set of springs from Pelican ended up being more expensive than direct from those companies. Would not recommend at all, don't even bother.
  19. Really just depends on your rattle gun. Last workplace one of the guys had a top of the line Milwaukee 1\2" M18 fuel that wouldn't break a sweat on anything.
  20. SAS suspension in Auckland gave me good deal on Sachs\Boge long ago and Shox.com had good good prices on Koni's last time i looked. Threw some Meyle ones from FCP in my DD 530i as they were on special ($100 NZD for 1x front), ended up being around $400 shipped and got away with no gst. Don't know how long they would last but performance wise they are better than i expected.
  21. In my E34\E32 experience its usually non perfect wheels, tyre balance or the need for hubcentric rings?. Worn control arms tend to exaggerate things but wont typically cause crazy shakes alone.
  22. Currently Hyper is doing a buy one get one half price deal on Michelins etc 4x PS4's in the common 235/45/17 size is a mere $750, excellent value for a marvelous tyre
  23. Comment was aimed at punishing people over and over again and expecting a different result.. Im not against zero punishment and some people can't be helped, finding a balance isn't easy and really comes down to the particulars of the situation. Law is sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't (2008 financial crisis) Maybe starting a free legal place to drag race for the boy racers instead of the streets. The others are typically are lower class which all you can do really do educate and incentivize and hope they do better or at least their kids improve of their situation
  24. I agree i thought my comment basically implied that twas the case. Agreed about standards, some are areas seemly nonchalant whilst other departments like OSH have overboard ones. Sure we can all agree the death toll is caused by many contributing factors. I can fit 4 different 10 year old Chinese tyres to my 1990 Hiace, install a set of worn shocks (no leaks) with under min thickness rotors and cheapest brake pads around, get a WOF and drive 110kph on the express way and its legal so its ok.
  25. All well having a wish list in all but its a fact is being obsessed with punishment has been done over and over and has failed every time. Of course there's always going to be some people who don't learn but it's still far better have to support programs, policies etc that help people so they are less likely to offend in the first place. Not to mention the cost benefits down the line. Your right NZ'ers are casual as with most things but i don't see that changing in a hurry.
