Hi Jamie It sounds like the ballast/inverter on that side as blown. The two rings should be powered by the same inverter and it's common for the inverters to go bad. You'll need to get a new one - it's possible that any 12v inverter (such as the ones used for the CCFLs in computer cases) would work.

Very very nice wheels!

E36 M3 Brake upgrades options listed

Now that's perseverance. Very impressed by what they did - shipping both ways internationally - though being the 'right' thing to do wouldn't dare to assume all companies would do that. Enjoy the next track trip Mark. Btw how does the cooling plate work? -
Can only think of the boot seals. They can 'look alright' but still leak - next time this happens again have a close look at the seal and see if the inner part of it is wet. Or you can test it out with a hose.

Nice purchase Josh, well optioned. Surprised to hear this given I only saw your 330 around 2 weeks ago. Titansilber really is your colour!

Not unreasonable - would vote with your wallet and go somewhere else... unless this is the only place you can get these from?

Welcome, very nice car - does everyone in the club have to have a white car

I suspect they might have been aftermarket Nick - but next time if you see it again grab a pic for us. I agree that headlight washers are generally indicative of HIDs as they are legally required for factory HIDs, but they were a European option hence you see them on UK cars etc. And if they were factory you'd think that there would be a fair few for sale on eBay Germany etc as most cars in Europe have HIDs. Your car has the parabolic headlights which should use a H7 bulb. This tends to be the type on E36 Compacts (Ti). The other shapes (coupe, sedan, touring) came with the ellipsoids which have a projector and use H1.

Aggressive - Black with red accents. Might be more suited to a track hack. Hot - Imola with black accents - this would be my pick if you wanted to have something unique.

Very kind of you to offer Quinn, and must say I'm envious that you're living there! It seems that all quotes for shipping from Germany seem to be DHL - does anyone know if that's the cheapest option? (As DHL is usually one of the most pricey options but I don't know if the fact that they're owned by Deutsche Post makes them the national carrier such as USPS in the States)

Nick & Josh, whereabouts did you hear about HIDs being a factory option on later E36s? As AFAIK the only proper HID option for the E36 (i.e. with projectors actually designed for HIDs) is the Hella CELIS xenon which is aftermarket. Factory HIDs should be the least glaring as they were designed to spread the beam properly. If a factory HID car is causing glare it means they're not aimed properly. Similarly, you can reduce glare from a HID retrofit by aiming it lower but then it defeats the purpose of having the extra lumens in the first place. From what I've noticed, HID 'retrofits' (i.e. re-based H1 kits instead of a proper retrofit using the D2S/D2R bulbs and HID projectors/reflectors) are worse when put into a reflector headlight than a projector.

Nice car April - still remember asking you about that one in the calendar which you said didn't belong to you. Is this that same car?

Schnitzer badging on most cars refer only to the trim bits which are not related to maintenance. For your purpose, look for any workshop manual that covers the 1993 E36 325i. IMO the best manual for the E36 is the Bentley manual - you can buy one from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0837603269/?tag=emejobseasit-20

Recommend the Teng ones should you need to get one in the future. I use them and they're great... seems to be the consensus among others too. They're also listed on TradeMe.

No problem getting them pressed in - Glenn had the right tool. Yes it's a shame Jason - but I'm sure your new car is worth it!

To anyone who's looked at metal front control arm outer ball joints... I took the car in to Glenn to get the LCABs replaced recently. Since the front control arms were already out I decided to replace the inner and outer ball joints as well. Already had Lemforder (OEM) units but Glenn suggested to get metal outers which should last longer and give better handling/feel. I'd read good things about the Meyle HD outer ball joints and was quite lucky to find a new parts business down in Dunedin called MillAnd (run by Paul who is also a forum member) selling them for a reasonable price - they go by the same name 'milland' on TradeMe. The order was very last minute with less than 2 days before the job, but Paul sent them out immediately via overnight courier so they got here ahead of time. Observations: They do give better feel, and are not harsh at all, as Jason (M-Spec) has mentioned about his. While we don't know what brand Jason's were, the experience seems to be the same. Ron (3pedals) also has the Meyle on his car and found them to be good. Because I also got the inners and the LCAB replaced at the same time, I can't pinpoint exactly how much it improved the steering - but considering what people have said about these, I would definitely attribute some of the improvement to them. Well worth considering.

Wow, seriously that is a beautiful E30 M3 and cool that it's had such a loving past owner. More pics please!

Could be bad rear trailing arm bushings (RTABs).

Doubt it'll stay there long.
