Greg ,You must be getting sleep deprived with that new baby of yours ..... Anyway , Step 1 , See attached picture Step 2 , Push gear leaver right and enage manual mode (or leave it in auto mode just to annoy manual drivers) Step 4, Press switch thingie below gear stick on right hand side until dash display matches my avatar Step 5 , Put left hand leg on dashboard Step 6, Smash accelerator to the floor Step 7 , At redline move right hand pinkie 5mm Repeat 6 times ..... Im prone to exageration .... Change time is 80 milliseconds , not 1/1th of a second as stated. edit , forgot to add , press the heated seats buttons somewhere in the process .... Anyway , I like the idea of putting a honda civic badge on the back like those real examples of M cars.

IMO Go with 18 inch rims for the track. Better range of sticky tyre options in that size. The oem rim is nice and strong but manybe not the lightest. I'm noticing in the USA many have changed from a staggered setup to a square setup and use 4 rear OEM 18's instead which is sposedly helps reduce understeer. I have a spare set of rear 18's so will try this next tyre round. Other thing to consider is just putting something like Re-11's or smilar on your current rims and use them for both road and track days ? I went up to 235 + 265s on the oem rim. They hang on well and don't spin up out of 2nd gear corners and hand on well.

Recommendations on 4" Front components for an E28?
Neal replied to tobester's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
The Bostons were a two way , but I moded them with home made crossovers to roll off the mid bass to stop it competing with the lower range of the tweeter. It made a small but noticable difference. -
Bugger ! Ive got an SMG and a "M" badge Must take the M badge off the car as it doesn't have a clutch pedal. Mind you, I never was able to change gear in 1/10th of a second with the foot flat on the right hand pedal on the old manual or rev match down shifts on a trailing throttle ..... what am I missing by not having a clutch pedal

Recommendations on 4" Front components for an E28?
Neal replied to tobester's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Focal and moral have great pedigree. I ran some soundstream sst4.0's 4 inch for rear fill in my e36 using the standard coupe ported speaker boxes. They sounded quite musical in their own right and can handle a reasonable amount of power. Mid base was lacking despite the ported box but wasn't too much of a problem due to front components and 10 inch sub. I'd try and see if you can get a good 4x6 for the front as they will run lower than a 4 inch and pull the image forward as a result. 4 inch speakers usually roll off quickly below 100 hz so will need bass reinforcement from elsewhere. I ran 4x6s on my old e21 a while back and was pleased with the results. Boston made some good sounding speakers in this configuration a while back. Boston are getting out of car audio so the speakers are been sold off at budget speaker prices. Worth a look otherwise focal or moral in 4 inch would be my choice in that size. -
Been a while since an update. Been collecting gear , namely a Boston SPG555 and Pasive radiator and various electronic bits. Have a bunch of MDF in the garage and a box design software. Have mocked up a couple of designs , but they have failed the "Does the baby buggy fit in the boot if needed" test. Box was getting to 14 inchs deep to allow passive raditator to sit behind main driver and line up with ski port at a 70 degree angle to match back seat slope with a 28 litre internal volume. Probably will end up with a slimmer box going futher across the backseat. Also turns out my mid 2002 Bm53 tuner is pre - aux software and doesn't have Aux input. I've come across firmware for the eprom, but it's not clear if its for a bm54 or bm53. Rather risk turning the tuner into a teapot will go to plan B and go to an external aux source switcher. Plan B, Would have solved the issue with a Alpine H800 processer and connected the PC and CD changer via digital connections and tuner via RCA. However , our new arrival last month has changed "projects" income. Plan C, Go for a simple pre-amp crossover with AUX input. Have been watching out for the older Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 or 2 processors. There are two older versions (and a brilliant new version 3sixty.3). One with 1/3 octave eq and time alignment and one which is a basic crossover. Ended up finding a second hand 3sixty.1 which is the basic version which has high level and RCA in, plus Aux selectable via remote control switch.

International shipping - 'Airport only shipping'?
Neal replied to e30ftw's topic in General Discussion
Must depended on goods and that $400 nzd gst threshold. Brought a Iphone/ipad smart baby monitor for the little one. 190 USD via ebay usa only shipper , rather than $600 NZD locally via apple Istore. Had no issues and came in around $260 NZ after shipping. Also below NZ GST threshold. Transaction took 14 days door to door. However , best shipment method so far was car audio gear via ebay / fedex in 6 days including customs clearance. -

If the items are smaller I'd just nzpost ship from usa service. Signup via the nzpost site. Charges are $15 handling fee and postage based on weight. The service is well priced. Visit My Website -
Track Test: Nissan DeltaWing Driven At Road Atlanta -- CHRIS HARRIS

That front end is amazing ! Quote , "shocks are similar to mountain bike items" yet it can pull 4g on corners. -
Nice rig Mspec , Built an HTPC as well (HT Case, temp controlled fans , 4 TB of onboard eco drives ) I like the UI you're using. TV looks great as well. I'm currently building a speaker cabinet to re-house some speaker drivers for a centre channel (8 inch 3 way system). I'm using some oldschool wharfedales to replace my energy speakers which work well on home theater / music video.

get a bluetooth audio reciever and plug it into your amp. E.G http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Sp...cm_cr_pr_sims_t . Hook a 12 volt usb charger for the device. Then add an app like http://de.appbrain.com/app/bluetooth-volum...thvolume.donate for volume control. Job done

The thing to remember with e30 imports was that the industry was riff with cars coming in with altered speedos at the time. Many had done far more KMs than stated. Remember looking at a 325i where they'd left the next oil due sticker at 195000 KMs . The car was advertised with 76000 KMs . Having said that some of those SA cars had nice up specs such as 2.7 l engines and most options ticked for the extras.

I don't believe that your tape player has aux in. ( can anyone else confirm ?) The tidy way is to get a audiovox dice device that sits between the Cd changer. It gives you iPod, aux in , sd card and optional Bluetooth connectivity. Steering wheel controls work etc. you'll need to run the wiring from the boot to your console. The other way is as mentions above which is to mod your tape player. http://jcrowell.info/bmw-aux-in.html

Need a bit more infor on your system. Do you have a cd player / stacker / Nav sat , or head radio / tape / Cd. depending on what is install will depend on Aux input (normally late 2002 devices on) At a guess your best option maybe a device that plugs in where the CD stacker connects which gives AUX / Ipod.

Nice car. Checkout USA firm Dinan for some ideas and costs. http://www.dinancars.com/shop/index.aspx?s...rt-Wagon#page=1

It's got the correct acs body kit. Not a fan of the dtm exhaust. Mint e36 m3 money though.

This thread is worthy of a sticky for e46 M3 suspension options. Must be one of the best on the interweb I've come across

Same here. Got an e36 aircon hedgehog resistor via him. Part was on my doorstep within a day of payment clearing. No issues with part either. Buy with confidence.

Probably hard to tell from pic. She's facing the rear of the car which they recommend these days. Five point harness and all with the capsule.

Would be worth putting an coder or similar on your ibus to see if the screen is sending commands to the tuner which does the majority of the switching. I'd do the following. Work out where your amp / tuner / video / amp modules are. Disconnect the battery. Take off and put back on all connectors on the modules. Reconnect battery and leave the system for 10 minutes to self work out what modules it has. Confirm that nav screen is sending commands to tuner module via nav coder . Someone in Chch should be able to help you with this. I should be able to find the hex data codes from the controls for you. If it does then more trouble shooting of tuner module required. If it doesn't then it could be the screen or the work on the car has disturbed the wiring. Unplug the video module , power off everything and disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Power back on and see if the screen works via the tuner unit ( it should take over) If nothing works then its likely to be an issue with the tuner module at this point. If you do get something on the screen but still no sound then either the output stAge on the tuner is not working or the amp is not powering on. Does your system have the dsp option ? Btw. If it works out to be the tuner there are a number of repair companies in the uk that advertise on eBay that will fix common electronic component failures on the tuner. Roughly 100 pounds to do so. Many are regular posters on other bmw forums so you can check them out before hand
