  1. Hi all. Wondering if the friendly people on this forum might suggest where I could get the best price for my car. HMG953 Or if they know anyone interested or any groups I could contact. Runs perfectly. Current wof/rego. Less than 169000km Just spent around 5-6k on the engine/tires. Driver window/door control panel not working. Apart from that this is an awesome vehicle to drive/own and I may get around to sorting out the small issues like the control panel and the window rubbers to really bring it into an eye turning luxurious M sport.

    e46 v8 wagon

    So after my grief with the N46 in my 318i I decided to turn it into a project car. The car is a 2004 318i auto msport wagon with 130,xxx kms. It will be getting a m62b44 non vanos v8 m62b46 v8 with a m122 supercharger It will be mated to a 420g 6 speed manual, and a m3 rear end. I'll also be upgrading suspension and brakes, and setting the car up for flex fuel to run e85. Cosmetically it will get some upgrades, but nothing too over the top. The goals for this project are; #Do as much myself as possible. #No compromises except on budget. #Make something unique. #Learn as much as I can in the process. So lets get started - heres the car; First job was to completely strip the exterior of the car. Everything came out, engine, trans, suspension, subframes, fuel tank, even the fuel lines and brake lines. Up on stands and ready to do some work With everything out I set to work cleaning the underbody. This took ages because I'm a perfectionist. I used degreaser and a waterblaster, and eventually degreaser with a rag to get the real stubborn areas. There was no damage to the underbody but because I'm increasing the power output I wanted to strengthen it. I made strengthening plates out of 2mm steel. A huge thank you to forum member @Karter16 who posted me paper templates to make them from. I bought myself a cheap gasless mig welder and taught myself to weld. This enabled me to make plates like the one below. There are 6 plates in total, 2 for the front subframe mounts, 2 for the rear subframe mounts, and two which are like spacers. Welding is really difficult, but I managed to weld in all 4 of the subframe plates. First I used a grinder with a flap disc and a drill with a wire brush, to get the places to be strengthened back to bare metal, then I coated the area with weld through primer. I coated the back of the plates in weld through primer also and then I welded in the plates. Then I used the grinder to grind the welds back. I then coated the bare metal with crc rust converter primer to protect it - I really like this product. https://www.crc.co.nz/Rust-Converter/6895-2548b7ca-2a00-4114-b2e1-17eb0e6a576b/ Then I used a Vht top coat, followed by seam sealer, and finally Septone stone shield rubberised coating. I coated the whole cleaned underbody in Septone stone shield. Its black, but looks green in the photo for some reason. The side skirts were removed to clean and paint behind and then reinstalled with new clips from Schmiedmann. The inner arches were cleaned and painted, and the cleaned plastic pieces were reinstalled. The cleaning process takes ages. Inner arches before cleaning and painting; And after; While all this was going on I was accumulating parts. All suspension and brake parts I sandblasted in my mates sandblaster. This took many days, and would have been more cost effective paying a professional, but I want to do as much myself as possible. Then they were expertly powdercoated by forum member @aja540i who really does a nice job. Here is a pic of the before and after the sandblasting; And a pic of the same part powdercoated and assembled;
  5. How many RHD e34 530i V8's were manufactured?
  6. Hey guys. I've found another project car, so up for sale is my beautiful E39 540i Msport on genuine BBS wheels. This car has an amazing history of maintenance and receipts totalling $25k+ Car has done 188,000kms, this will go up as its my daily. Major things that have been replaced/repaired are: - The tiptronic trans has been rebuilt - $5k receipt - Cooling system has been replaced - $2k receipt ** Timing chain tensioner has been replaced - this is an important one, not many E39's for sale out there that have had this taken care of. - Belts have been done within the past couple of years. It's very tidy inside and out and drives beautifully. The leather is in great condition. Has the factory head unit but has had after market speakers, amp and sub installed, sounds very good. All windows work, sunroof works perfectly and the rear pop up blind works great too. A previous owner has installed an oil catch can and deleted the rear muffler, the car sounds lovely with a few pops and crackles on decel, but not obnoxious. Things that I would look into if I were to keep the car are: - Very slow oil leak - I think this is coming from around where the oil catch can has been installed, if not it's probably a seal. The amount of oil is very little. 3.9k ONO. Test drives are welcome and encouraged. Car is located in Glenfield. --- Note: car will come on BBS wheels in the first image. Cheers.
  7. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/land-rover/auction-1330912676.htm Needs a power plant. Owner reckons he cant find one, and his old one's dropped a ring. Body and interior look tidy. M62's aren't too hard to come by. If I had a workshop, I'd be tempted. $10k.
  8. Well my Sunday Driver got collected today. A 2000 E38 740i, NZ New 205ks Got it ex Turners for $2400. Using this as a bit of a track on the progress. Initially mechanics look pretty good, drives really well, no clunks or anything. Good service records. Interior is pretty filthy though and everything not done in a service hasn't been touched, like cabin air filters. Little stuff like having a Kabab stick, yes that's right, stuffed down the wiper blade to hold it in. The grill on the bonnet I found had no fixings in it when changing the blades, all lazy stuff Lots to tidy up, again looks stored outside and needs a Real good compound and polish etc to clean up.
  9. Parting out an E34 530i auto, because it has cracked windscreen and expired rego. - Electronically adjustable seats. - Original BMW 15" basket weaves with roughly 50% tread. - Done 207,000Km - Engine and Transmission running well. - Wide grill and bonnet (facelift) - After market lowering springs (sits lower than my other E34 on 40/20mm vogtlands). - Can see the pictures for other details. Just ask for what ever parts you are interested in. Or if you want a picture of something. In South Auckland area. Some pics:
  10. Ladies and Gentlemen, Ok so as some of you may have guessed i have a E60 545I. currently everyweek i am having to top up my coolant by at least 1tr, there is the apperance of liquid and dried antifreeze coming from the small drain hole to the top left of the water pump. My best guess is the Cooland Transfer Pipe seal has failed and getting worse. I have read the horror stories online about the 3K+ repair bill to have this fixed, i've been on Ebay and looking to get one of the many third party repair kits. My question is has anyone done this repair, maybe purchased a kit and can offer some advise or knows of a local NZ company that has these kits or even has purchased a kit and didn't use it. Any suggestions, advise or even some direction is greatly appreciated.
  11. sold to a great guy in Christchurch.

    V8 M60 3.0

    Hi, Cleaning out the garage after having completed my 3.0 to 4.0 conversion. I have a 3.0 block and heads, heads not removed, not by me anyway, so I guess never. Car was running fine, I just wanted to do the 4.0 conversion. I obviously have quite a few other bits and pieces. The old clutch disc/PP and flywheel can go to. Need it gone as it's cluttering up my brothers driveway. I thought about doing a coffee table, but I just don't have the time. Any enquires just text me or reply or PM I guess. Ranui collection. It's on trademe now. Cheers Lionel 021795306. Pictures to follow.
