It is wider at the front at the front and where the sump guard would normally mount is no existent. There's approximately 7mm of gap betwen the guard and the sump. The picture isn't doing it justice. BMTHUG 1014 Report post Posted September 15 (edited) Looked at it as I undertook cutting the grass. Upgraded the rear sway bar to a 19mm Ultra racing one on Friday and it's made a massive difference. The old one looked very tiny in comparison. So I now have the full Ultra Racing front and rear sway bars plus the strut brace up front. Luckily not far from home, so let it sit for 10-15mins to cool down, drove it 2 mins up the last part of three mile hill, then coasted it pretty much all the way home with only needing two quick bursts of power then shut it off again. didnt have a spare belt, so fitted the rear strut brace instead. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I stripped down my Touran engine to fit the thermostat, discovered it was the wrong part, so took the engine out and put a VR6 in there instead. mmario 46 Report post Posted September 20 (edited) Picked up a set of gen ACS type 2's, fitted them with Firestones and I must say I am impressed with them for the money. Loving the old school look, I know it's only a 528 but I love this car, it got me into Bimmers and wrenching myself It's just such a nice cruiser If anyone is after a set of banged up style 65 reps let me know. Sorted that as well as properly adjusted the rear handbrake shoes and handbrake travel as well as changed the front control arms as the balljoints were completely pooked. I don't know what they did for the NZ new cars but we replaced the boot lid on the Baur because the light was fitted so badly, with leaks and zero prep causing rusting across 60% of the underside. This car has no rust thankfully. BMTHUG 1014 Report post Posted September 22 Took her for a nice Sunday drive with the wife. Managing about 550 to 580ks per a tank (by estimate as I don't let it get below 1/4). It seems to like the 98 better with the s50 injectors. I will be retaining them for my stroker build I think as they should have more than enough flow being 22lb. The Miller Maf Conversion really helps too. It splutters a little when not warmed up but once it's warm it's really smooth and rev happy. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

BMTHUG 1014 Report post Posted September 25 (edited) Finally finished the Mrs car. Upgraded the grill and painted the left side as it had bad clear coat peel. The liquid yellow is the exact same paint code as the e36 M3 Dakar yellow. Makes me love it even more now. Also did the rocker cover gasket, front crankshaft pulley (vibration damper) and crank seal. So all the engine oil seals have been done and now it is completely leak free. Was pleasantly surprised with how clean the inside of the motor was. Also painted the strut brace as it was looking tatty. Lot's of hours into this now. Replaced the faded GTS Logos too.
