E30 M325i plz

Recommended Posts

Hi team,

Within the next week, I'll be making a purchase of a runaround/2nd car and would like to investigate the possibility of an E30 upgrade/downgrade depending how your opinions lie.

Off this forum, I'd like peoples knowledge of the following vehicles and others that are available for sale that I am not aware about please. I'm pretty sure RAPIDO and APTs (if it is his) are pretty meticulous from meeting the guys and seeing the cars in the flesh so no need to convince me on those.

Ideally I'd want a coupe or a touring (Good luck) in white/black/red but it seems silver is the most mainstream colour on trademe for coupes. I did find the one white sedan, which is an option purely based on the colour. I'm prety noob when it comes to E30s so please be nice.

Thanks

Preferences:

Tech 2 > Tech 1

White > Black > Red > Grey

Coupe/Touring > Sedan

Coupe > Colour > Tech 1/2

The below is the price range I'm expecting pay for a nice example:

Lukas/RAPIDO:

Andrew/APT (?)

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-380164020.htm

Not sure who's this is, but top of my list.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-379129139.htm

Again unsure:

Unsure, but it's white and SA assembled.

Leather etc is a bonus, but not fussed in the slightest.

Cbf with ratty dashes, cbf with much rust, cbf with non M's.

And LSD a must, don't want to have to lock that ugly one wheeler.

mine isn't mint and needs a bit of work but has heaps of goodies. Will be cheaper than anything you listed.

Personally I like Tech1 more.

I am also one of those people that takes the KMs into account. The lower the better. I know with some cars you cannot read off the Ks but it is almost always a very good indicator.

Cracks in the dash are no biggie. You can find carpets covers pretty easy and to be honest, I would have a carpet cover over a non-cracked dash anyway because I prefer the look.

I have always preferred white, silver and red being my second choice.

I also don't really like black leather, shows way too much wear (even if in good condition). I do not mind beige/cream interior but I do prefer the standard cloth.

For rust, I have found a few key places to check.

Boot wells down the side. Sunroof drains (pour some water down the open sunroof rails and make sure it all comes out each separate drain down each pillar). Firewall (always good to check on any older car as it is WOF material). Corners of doors/windows etc.

If you need to re-gas the A/C, ask if the system is leaking. I have seen some that need to be re-gassed once a year.

That's all I can think of. Take my opinions with a grain of salt though, I would call myself a bit of a purist by this forums standards. :)

Thanks bud, that's pretty useful information. I'll keep that in mind.

What is the carpet cover you refer to? You mean covering the dash?

Yep, just like the picture here.

That is the nicest style of cover I have found.

Ones like this: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/attachment...mp;d=1197752059

They are just plain ugly.

I'd go with Jamez M325i, Black, coupe, manual, Genuine //M along with all the goodies plus more.

Do it.

I have a friend in Auckland who has been thinking about getting rid of his m325i for a while..

Except theres a catch, it came from factory with the bodykit delete option

Came with an "is" lip instead. But as far as I know it is still a genuine M325i, coupe, black, LSD, Pommie Import (MPH speedo), tech2 wheel/gearknob etc...

Can ask him more if you want, but probably not the best as it only ticks the colour/coupe boxes and not the tech2 :P

Oh and needs a new bonnet cos some fat git sat on it

This the one? http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....c=31899&hl=

"Has a rusty sunroof cage, and the sunroof has been glued shut by a previous owner

but the roof itself has no rust."

Bugger, how can I make the sunroof functional again? Is this possible?

Pjay, if you want to know anything about James' car (that he can't answer himself) like the sunroof being glued shut or details on the replacement engine then get hold of this guy - All European Service

He was the owner/mechanic who did all this work on the car. Very helpful guy. Cant remember his name but I approached him to buy it a couple years back but he wanted moon money for it so I declined.

Hope James is ok with me giving out this info...

Hey PJay,

That car has been thrashed, it was a previous owner on here, although I'm not sure if it was him that did the thrashoing. Nick posted a link to Max on facebook of the car doing skids, I thought I recognised it from somewhere. Plates seemed to have changed though.

Edit: Here -

Interesting!

Someone post the youtube link to the auction questions. Should drop the value of the car by a couple of G's ha ha.

Bimmersport, causing sh*t since ages ago!

Edit: Looks like a common occurrence - Youtube

It's a pity that someone has to do that to such a nice example of an E30 Tech1.

Carjam report shows plate was changed from TD8662 to FUF646 on the 8th of March 2011. http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=fuf646

Youtube user: http://www.youtube.com/user/GWHIzR

He has had 2 E30 uploads in the last 2 years of "$nakes" and the TradeMe auction states the current owner has owned it for the last two years so I would say the current seller has been the one who thrashed it.

Pity.

PS Someone should ask why the plates have been changed.

Hasn't almost every E30 either been thrashed or done skids?

Wasn't aware it was the same car as TD8662 doing skids at the tank farms.

They are the same car according to carjam. Still looks nice in the pics.

I would bloody well hope so, but it's like when you get a new mrs. You know she's probably not a virgin but sh*t, I don't want to see her ex boyfriend giving her a thrash before I do.

I LOL'd.

But completely understand the sentiment! Unless its a racecar, cos then I'd rather have evidence of it's ability first :P.

Man I was looking at that car thinking wow that is a nice example UNTIL I watched the Youtube channel.

I like your comment Pjay on his listing haha, someone should post up his youtube link.

I would but my trademe account I use for my second source of income so can't afford having him on my auctions haha

Err it's still a nice example? I dont see why everyone is so upset that the car has done a few burnouts. It's not like its sliding around on a diesel'd intersection and jumping a curb.
